Troisieme La Creperie dans L'Hong kong

I was excited when this third branch opened after two successful branches in Hong Kong.
Apart from Hong Kong, they also have branches in Shanghai!
Since my last visit, there are other dishes as well as crepes.
The restaurant was laid out with wooden tables and chairs, lighthouse salt and pepper shakers just like the other branches.

It was like walking into a restaurant by the seaside.
As they have just opened, there were not many people and gradually the restaurant got busy into the evening.
There is a lot of promotion on French food this month because of the LeGourMay so I was able to try some special galettes.

I had the duck confit galette and a sweet crepes.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
La cannette:

This was a savory galette with duck confit, emmenthal cheese, bell peppers fondue and its piment d'espelette jelly.
The galette was crispy and chewy with evenly sized holes on the surface. The confit was delicious with a hint of sweetness from the bell peppers and there was a hint of spiciness from the chili jelly.
Duck in French is Canard which is why this is called a cannette as it is a galette.

Jus de Citron

I know there were lots of fancy crepes on the menu but I just wanted something simple so I chose this which just had lemon, butter and sugar.
The crepe was chewy and the lemon juice made me hungry again.
I loved the strong lemon juice taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Strawberry fizz:

To finish off I had the strawberry fizz which was fruity and cooling.

Le French GourMAY at O delice!

My favourite month of May again because restaurants will promote French food and special French dishes that are not normally served.
They should have a month for British food and other countries as well, but French is good because there is cheese.

I went to O delice! again because I love duck and good cheese so I had the special menu that was on for Le French GourMAY.
Too bad Charlies next door has packed up because I love their crispy duck and UK style comfort Chinese food.

All the items are from Midi Pyrenees in the South of France.

When you wait for the food, you can see the crepes being made with the slanted mirror by the kitchen.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Earl grey tea by teapigs:

Started off with earl grey tea that had a strong leafy taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Smoked duck galette:
This was served with carmelized onions, a dash of curry powder, cherry tomatoes and rocket.

It was absolutely delicious because the crepe was evenly filled with cheese that was savoury with delicious onions on top with a hint of curry.
The crepe was light and crispy.

The duck was wonderful because it is different, it was dark in colour and the texture and taste was like a duck version of parma ham and the rocket leaves help balance the heaviness with its bitterness.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Cold cut and Cheese platter:
The cheese platter is served after 5pm.
Here are the items in the platter.

A salty and waxy saucisson which tastes a little bit like the snack called pepperami.

Bread for the pork terrine.

Cows cheese and Sheeps cheese.
The cows cheese was light and soft and the sheeps cheese was surprisingly mild.

Pork and mushroom terrine.
I really liked this one because it had an equal balance or pork, mushrooms and it was not that fat.

Bayonne ham which was waxy and not too salty.

Guerkins and fig jam which were really good condiments with the platter.

Crepe for desserts

Time flies since French May and now it is the middle of June already.

It was only a few weeks ago that I had their yummy platter and duck crepe and now I am craving for crepes again so it's probably the aftermath of French May!

Went here for dessert and ordered two simple sweet crepes.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Crepe with maple cream:

The crepe was thin and light topped with a big dollop of cream.
It was nice because it wasn’t too sweet and the cream and crepe went together nicely.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Crepe with salted butter caramel:

There was quite a bit of caramel drizzled on top but luckily it was not too sweet and it had a bitter taste.
It tasted even better when I added some cream to it from the other crepe.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Hope to try the croissants next time.

Pleasure time having crepes at Leisure Time

I was having a food tour at Sai Yung Pun and this place captivated me because of the beautiful deco, it was dreamy and relaxing.
Even their toilet felt like a palace.

On my Sai Yung Pun tour, the restaurants I went to were:
Nyonya Coming, Homelite Coffee (which can't seem to be listed on Openrice) and Eat my cakes.

This little gem was hotel standard from the uniform the owner was wearing to the Sachertorte cakes that they serve.
The owner makes their own marshmallows and corned beef too.

The crepes were surprisingly good because I had bad experiences from the local Japanese and Chinese crepes which are too sweet with too much aerosol cream.

The crepes they serve here are basically English pancakes which are thin and soft rolled with fillings.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Avocado and brie croissant:

Started off with the irresistible croissant because it had my favourite avocado and brie.
The avocado and brie paired nicely giving a lovely creamy and buttery tone to the flakey croissant.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Savoury cheese, tomato and mushroom crepe:

This was seriously good because the pancake base was not overly sweet like the ones at Mazazu.
The simple cheese, tomato and mushroom filling tasted good and the French dressing helped to bring all the flavours together.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Smoothie:

I was surprised by the smoothie too because I was expecting it to be too sweet but it wasn't.
It was refreshing with tones of banana, strawberry and pineapple.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
I will be back for the corned beef and marshmallows!!!!

La plage at La Creperie

Went to LA Creperie again and had the lemon crepe.

It was different to the version I had in 2010 because this time it had icecream and no meringue.

Review in 2010:

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
La plage:
lemon cream, mint and icecream
The creamy lemon sauce tasted like lemon curd with a refreshing minty taste.

The scoop of icecream was optional in my opinion because I would have preferred it without and the crepe tasted nice without it.

Let's duck to Cheung Chau for French crepes

Saw this shop listed on OpenRice and the name 食duck啦 Omyduck was really catchy so I googled it and found out that they did French crepes so I went to Cheung Chau especially for them.

Their logo is really nice too with a duck wearing a French beret with a curly moustache and blue striped t-shirt.

It is located near the pier which was great.

There was a French guy wearing a classic French beret making crepes with fresh bananas, sauces laid at the front of the stall.

The menu was simple, there were savoury galettes and sweet crepes.

The savoury crepes were made with buckwheat served crispy with savoury fillings, there was a choice of:
omyduck (duck confit, rocket salad, homemade dressing)
La complete (ham, French cheese and egg)
smoked salmon (smoked salmon, fresh cream, fresh cheese)

For sweet crepes, there was a choice of:
Butter and sugar
lemon and sugar
nutella chocolate
mango, strawberry or cherry
nutella and banana
grand marnier

Anyway ordered the omyduck because of the duck confit.

Basically he puts the galette mixture on the galette maker.

Then he put some cheese on my galette for some reason but it does not say there was cheese in the one I ordered.

Then he put my favourite dijon mustard.

On the other galette iron, he heats up the duck.

I didn't spot him put any rocket salad in it as stated on the menu and the galette was ready.

Anyway, it was really nice of him to slice it for me because there is no seating. If it wasn't sliced it would be hard to eat the crepe with a plastic fork standing up without a knife.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
omyduck:

It was nicely sliced into bite sized pieces which made it easier to enjoy.

The crepe was fantastic because it was crispy and the filling was delicious with the mustard which enhanced the duck with some extra saltiness and tanginess in taste while the cheese held it together when it melted.
For improvements, the duck could have been softer and shredded into smaller chunks so that it could be uniformly distributed in the crepe.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Lemon and sugar crepe:

When he made it, he squeezed quite a fair bit of lemon into the crepe.
Anyway, I loved the texture of the crepe because it was soft and elastic.
He also put quite a fair bit of butter in it too which made me think "merde" in my head because I don't like butter but overall it was so delicious because it was really lemoney and not too sweet and the butter helped to give it that extra grease so that it wasnt too dry.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

As a summary, I really loved the crepes and I hope the standards remain the same.
I super regretted not getting the other salmon one too because not many places do salmon crepes and the price of these savoury crepes were a bargain, but Cheung Chau is annoyingly far and getting in and out of CC is rather troublesome !
