[Review] Flame and Fried Chicken in Croydon

Every time I go past, you will see groups of people with boxes of chicken and chips which looks and smells good hence the reason I tried.
In general, these affordable fried chicken shops hardly go wrong.
As I didn't see the special offer outside, I went for the 6 pieces of chicken wings and chips for £3.
They even gave me a receipt after I paid because some chicken shops normally don't.

It was reassuring to see the chips were fried to order just like the other shops.

Within a flash, the food was ready and don't forget to leave without the ketchup because they really make the chips tasty.
The ketchup they use is obviously different and appetizing and it is good how the wings are buried and kept warm under the fries so when you finish the fries the chicken is still hot.

The wings were perfect, light coating where the chicken is moist and tender and comes off the bones easily and you even get to eat the delicious soft bone from the wings.
It's a pity I didn't see the chicken and chicken wing offer because the chicken drumstick looked really good in the cabinet but will definitely be back because the food was good.

It is always a good sign when you see people outside a chicken shop with their food because it means their chicken is sold fast and more fresh batches are cooked so you will get good quality chicken that has not been in the cabinet for a while going dry.

Second visit:

Third visit:
Cold chips and visually you can see they were not freshly done.

March 2021 update:
The shop was been rennovated and looks totally different from the previous white decor to black!

May 2021:
Tried the BBQ wings and they were good but too spicy!

[Review] Perfect Fried Chicken in Stratford

I love chicken from Perfect Fried Chicken.
The Stratford branch is small compared to other branches but the chicken is always good and the staff are polite and super friendly.

[Review] Perfect Fried Chicken - Croydon

Perfect Fried Chicken is mostly perfect on every visit.
I have been eating it for years but sadly the Perfect fried chicken on 239 Mile End Road closed so I have had to go to other branches.

Sadly, the food scene at Stepney Green has changed, the Perfect Fried Chicken on 239 has been replaced by Green Pepper and a few doors away you have German Doner Kebab.
Towards the Mile End side, there is a small Kentucky Fried Chicken as well as a YiFang drinks stall.
Recently, another Asian grocery store opened called Food to Go near Ifor Evans Place.

Anyway, by chance I discovered a Perfect Fried Chicken joint in Croydon and they offer some light meal deals like ribs and fries, wings and fries etc for around £2.

On the first visit, had the ribs with fries.

The ribs were a bit sweet but the fries were so comforting as they tasted consistently like the ones at Mile End.
They were fried from frozen when ordered so they were golden yellow and evilicious with mayonnaise.
I don't know what brand they use but the mayonnaise is light and creamy.

On the second visit, had wings and fries, again the fries were amazing while the wings were very spicy.

The only thing I found different was the chili sauce.
Hoping to go back again for the chicken.

[Review] Festive Fried Chicken at YO! Sushi

YO! Sushi is an English chain of sushi restaurants by Simon Woodroffee.
The first branch appeared in Soho, London in 1997, since then they have restaurants all over the world including UAE and Saudi Arabi.

As well as sushi, they have a good selection of vegetarian dishes.
It was the festive fried chicken that brought me to YO! Sushi again.
According to their instagram post, fried chicken is Japanese Christmas tradition.

JFC Festive Feast box (£8.50) is available now featuring crispy Japanese Fried Chicken, special dipping sauce, YO! Fries, Miso-Butter Sweetcorn & Coleslaw.
As well as chicken, they have the Vegan JFC Festive Feast box (£8.50) which includes Vegan Chick*n Nuggets, special dipping sauce, YO! Fries, Sweetcorn with Miso Butter, & vegan Coleslaw.

Since I was there to try it, why not order both.
The staff were really helpful and did half and half for me so that I could try both the chicken and vegan chicken nuggets.

In terms of chicken, I thought it was a bit dry so the vegan chicken nuggets fared better even though they were a bit bland.

Vegan Chicken nuggets:

The fries were addictive as they were deliciously sprinkled with seaweed flakes.

Last but not least was the coleslaw, I absolutely loved it because it was creamy and not too overwhelming.

Overall I would definitely recommend the fried chicken and I will be back for their vegetarian dishes as it has been quite some time since I last had YO! Sushi.
