Fiji custard from BreadTalk

BreadTalk (Tseung Kwan O)

A new branch of BreadTalk has opened in Hang Hau.

This branch is quite small compared to the other branches.

Anyway I got the Fiji Custard.

Fiji custard:

I am quite puzzled why this is called Fiji custard because there is no custard in it nor can I find anything related to Fiji.
It was basically filled with cream and tasted like an oily cronut.
I did not like the crust because it was too crunchy.

Disappointing roast pork

新一派 味道 (Tseung Kwan O)
Honestly, I had no expectations of this place but it turned out far worse.

This place claims that their BBQ roast pork is good.

Anyway when I ordered, the waitress was a bit weird, after ordering one dish, she was rushing me to order a second dish as if I was not ordering enough.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Menu:

Most sets cost around $52-$55 which includes rice, vegetables, soup and a main dish.
The price is quite debatable because if you are getting so many items then $5x is a good deal but if the items in the meal are inexpensive then paying $5X is rather a waste!

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Photos of the restaurant:

The restaurant is reasonably comfortable hidden at the corner of some mall.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Roast pork with black pepper and honey:

The roast pork was just sweet, the black pepper was tasteless and having Chinese roast pork always depends on luck.
This time all the pieces were fatty. Great! NOT!

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Red beancurd pork knuckles with beancurd skin:

The pork knuckles were on a bed of beancurd skin which soaked the beancurd sauce.
However the sauce was a bit gritty, it seemed like there were wood shavings in it.
As for the pork knuckles, they were too soft and had some prickly stubble that was not shaved properly.

Chinese radish:

The Chinese radish was good but the broth ruined it because it had a rancid pork smell.

Well hidden cake shop

Hoixe Cake Shop (Tseung Kwan O)

This cake shop is the smallest branch of Hoixe I have ever seen.
It is hidden on the corner near Saizeriya.

Anyway, it is brightly lit and new compared to the other branches.

The chocolate roll looked attractive so bought that for $9.5.

The taste of the chocolate roll was quite nice and not too sweet but the chocolate cream and jelly in the middle was a bit heavy and artificial.

Overall the staff at this branch was helpful and friendly.

Deep fried Shao mai @ 東門町

東門町 (Tseung Kwan O)

This joint sells spicy noodles and snacks.

Their first branch was opened in Kwai Hing and now they have just expanded from the West side of Hong Kong to the East side of Hong Kong at EastPoint City.

I opted for the deep fried shao mai because the rest of the food items were spicy.

There was a choice of honey or salt and pepper to go with the shao mai.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Deep fried siumai:

The outside of the siumai was nice and crispy and the inside was soft.

The suimai was not too salty and complemented nicely with the salt and pepper.
It would be great if there was ketchup or vinegar for dipping.

Steamed crab legs in egg white and Huo Diao Wine

After trying the hot pot, found out there were some other dishes to try so went back for the Steamed crab legs in egg white and Huo Diao Wine.
I have always wanted to try this dish but not many places have it.
The difference here is the crab, you are given crab legs instead of a whole crab and they do not have chicken oil on the egg white and it does not have 陳村粉 as served at The Chairman in Central.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Steamed crab legs in egg white and Huo Diao Wine:
When it came the dish was piping hot, I tried the egg white first and I could not taste any Huo Diao Wine, however after letting the dish cool down for a while it tasted much nice and you can taste the wine.
The texture of the steamed egg was smooth.
The crab legs were managable and with the aid of scissors the crab meat came off easily.
The crab meat was fresh and the unami taste was present.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Bamboo Piths:
Had the hot pot a well and this time they were promoting bamboo piths which were impressively clean without sand.

Hot Pot @ Taste Full Kitchen

Located in Hang Hau, I was surprised this restaurant was quite nice especially the interior. When I entered the restaurant, the logo reminded me of Megan's Kitchen 美味廚 in Wan Chai.
Both these places share the Chinese characters 美味 in the name and they both offer some unique items for the hot pot.
In the end I found out that this restaurant is part of the Victoria Harbour restaurant group.

I chose the broth with pork bones and when it came it was white with some sweet corns, shitaake mushrooms and chives in it. I was expecting it to be tasteless but it was really strong, it was as nice as the broths at Little Fat Sheep so for people who do not favour red meat, the veggies and other items did not turn out to be tasteless due to the broth.
There were lots of spices in the broth too.
As well as the nice broth, they had nice sauces. Although I am allergic to the sichuan sauce, the sichuan sauce was really nice, it was not that spicy but the taste and smell was really aromatic.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
======HOTPOT ITEMS====== ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Dumplings with truffle:
It was such a waste with the pieces of truffle placed on top, when it is in the hot pot the truffle pieces float away.
The truffle pieces should have been wrapped inside.
The skin was really thick so the filling was hard to cook.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Oysters in the tub:
I was disappointed with the size of these because I have seen bigger before, however I found a tiny pearl that was forming.
The taste was creamy but slightly too mushy.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Hiroshima Oysters:
Surprisingly these taste better than the ones in tubs.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Fish maw and fish belly:
These were nice just plainly blanched in the hot pot because the soup broth was strong but after adding the sichuan sauce it was really nice as well.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Apart from Hot Pots I will be back for their dinners because they had some interesting items such as oysters, steamed alaskan crab legs with huadiao wine.
