Pandan roll @ Saint Honore Cake Shop

Saw this cute Swiss roll for $4.8 and it happened to be my favourite Pandan flavour so I got one.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Pandan roll:

The roll was very fragrant and not too sweet, and I liked the ratio of sponge to cream because there was less cream and it was salted buttercream which gives it that local Chinese flavour to it!

Saint Honore's Crispy chocolate roll

I was intending to get the fruit roll but they didn't have it so I got this new Crispy chocolate roll which was big and cheap costing $34!!
It seems that the rolls are inconsistent because the amount of cream is different in every roll.
The one I got had too much cream in it.

The roll was really good because it was soft and chocolately but the jelly tasted weird because it was sour and didn't quite match the taste.

The taro cake was also too sweet but hope to see them come up with a taro roll or pandan roll.

Green tea and mango roll [Saint Honore]

I had a wedding cake coupon that was worth $48 so I used it on the green tea roll.

The green tea roll had cream, green tea jelly, mango and red bean paste in the middle.

I didn’t really like it because there was too much sweet cream in the middle making it sickly.

Okinawan brown sugar roll @ Saint Honore

The Okinawan kokuto (Kanji: 黒糖) roll looked delicious because it was filled with okinawan sugar mousse, okinawan sugar jelly and purple potatoes so decided to get it.

The box reminded me of Anna Sui!

As you can see, there are chunks of jelly, sweet potato and mousse in the centre.

I ended up eating half of the roll because it was not too sweet and the roll was soft and light with fluffy light mousse and bits and pieces that gave it an interesting mouthful.

Saint Honore’s new Earl Grey Swiss Roll

The fancy Swiss rolls at Saint Honore are really nice.

So far, there has been:
Green tea with mango (don’t like mango)
Fruit roll (haven’t tried)
Okinawan brown sugar roll (really good)
Earl Grey tea

My favourites so far are the Okinawan brown sugar and the new Earl Grey.

The Earl Grey roll is filled with Australian milk mousse, Earl Grey jelly and mochi.

I really liked it because every part of the roll was delicious from the fragrant but not too sweet roll that had a natrual Earl Grey taste to the lovely Earl Grey jelly and mousse in the middle.
The mochi element was a bit weird though because the texture was sticky and sweet.

Chocolate roll from Saint Honore Cake Shop

The chocolate roll looked good so got it.

The roll was soft and firm with a strong cocao taste.
Inside the roll, there was thick sweet artificial cream and pieces of jelly.

Not bad, but I would have liked fresh cream instead of that weird cream.

New branch of Saint Honores at Hang Hau Station

When I saw the new Crispy rainbow cake I just had to get it, but all the stores were sold out.
It just happens, there was a new branch at Hang Hau station so I was able to get it because it was early in the morning.

I managed to get a form to apply for the VIP card because I had spent over $30 which I am yet to hand in.

Anyway, the cake was visually pretty with colorful layers of cake.

The first layer was blueberry sponge cake, the second layer was egg white sponge cake, the third layer was crispy chocolate flakes, the fourth layer was strawberry followed by green tea and then a sponge cake base covered in creamy mousse.
Overall the taste was really nice because it was not too sweet, but the taste of the different layers did not stand out except for the green tea.
I liked the cake but did not like the crispy layer in the middle because it was just weird like eating egg shells but it seems like a Hong Kong thing because local bakeries like to add crispy things to their cakes.

Happy Cheesecake by Saint Honore

This cheesecake looks visually weird and a bit too colourful for my liking!!
The different colours are: Passion fruit, chocolate, lime and strawberry.

Focaccia series at Saint Honore Cake shop

Saint Honore Cake Shop
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Focaccia Series:
Walked past and noticed these huge focaccias which were only $10.
There was Italian style focaccia with sea salt and potato or Italian style focaccia with ham, cheese and herbs.
I was tempted to choose the potato but when I used the bakery tongs, the focaccia was a bit hard so I bought the other one which was softer.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Italian style focaccia with ham, cheese and herbs:
The ham in it was a bit weird because focaccias are usually made with sundried tomatoes and herbs.
Anyway, the focaccia was nice and soft and the cheese on top gave it that extra Italian touch.
It was good to see a local bakery producing focaccias which tasted similar to a real focaccia and not shaped to look like one!!

Chocolate banana roll at difference prices

Saw this new delicious looking swiss roll with banana in the middle so bought one.
It costs $30 at Lok Fu.
Later that same day I was at Wong Tai Sin and that same chocolate roll costs $39!!
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Chocolate banana roll:
I do not really like banana cakes but this was really nice, the chocolate roll was soft and not too sweet and the cream in the middle was really nice because it was creamy and thick.
