[Vuong's French Sandwich] Vegetarian series

This is probably the 6th visit to Vuong because their Vietnamese baguettes are really tasty.Usually I go to the HK branch but they have moved all their operations here.
Luckily they still serve my favourite double cheese baguette.
As well as meat, they serve quite a lot of vegetarian options like Vegetarian Vietnamese Baguette and Vegetarian noodles.

On this visit, I had the new vegetable salad which comes with a choice of two dressings: Vietnamese or Japanese.

The Japanese sauce on the right is suitable for vegetarians because it does not contain garlic. It is made with olives and vinegar.
The Vietnamese sauce on the left contains fish sauce which was given for my noodles.

I tried the noodles without any sauce. I found it palatable so if you really wanted to be health conscious, it tastes ok without but of course better with sauces. Personally, I liked their new Japanese sauce because it wasn't sweet and the vinegar is appetizing.

The vegetable salad was huge and nutritious with pine nuts and seasonal veggies like lettuce, cucumber, onions, pickled carrots, coriander and tomatoes.

Finished off with my favourite vegetarian baguette which was packed with delicious flavours as usual from the chilis and pickles.

The cheese baguette is another must order item as well, but unfortunately I was full so I finished off with the salty sprite which has a prominent salty lemon taste to it.

I WILL BE BACK FOR THE CHEESE BAGUETTE!

Creative salads and soups at Tallore

Every day there is always a new soup and salad which makes it really difficult to choose!

Unfortunately I missed the VEGETARIAN GREEK AVGOLEMONO soup made with leeks, carrots, fresh parsley, mint, oregano, eggs and lemon.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Mixed salad:

I ended up having a salad mixture of BABY BOK CHOY which was a mix of jicama and onion topped with sesame seeds.
The jicama (Mexican turnip) had a delicious light crunch and the other salads that I choose were refreshing and healthy especially the Quinoa.

Wasabi potato salad

I was still hungry after dinner so got this.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Potato salad with wasabi and bacon bits:

It was potato mixed with wasabi dressing topped with bacon bits.
The bacon bits were no longer crispy but still tasty and the potatoes were delicious and filling covered in wasabi sauce with a mild kick, however some of the potato pieces could have been softer.

Rude waitress at Piccolo Pizzeria & Bar

Obviously ate more than just a salad at Piccolo Pizzeria & Bar but the waitress here was so rude and served you when she wanted to.
Originally planned to go to the Tai Hang branch but thought that this branch was going to be better but it wasn't.

The salad was nice and refreshing, lots of spinach leaves and cubes of juicy beetroots.
The fennel was nice and sweet.

Grassroots Pantry at IEM

Grassroots Pantry (Western District)

It was so good that Grassroots Pantry had a stall at IEM otherwise I would have not been able to try their food.
Grassroots Pantry is located in Sai Ying Pun which is extremely inconvenient and far away.

At the stall, they sold salads for $58 per box which is a mix of all three salads.

The salads were:
Quinoa salad with dried fruits, sunflower seeds, orange and hazelnut dressing.
Sprouted mung beans, peas, edamame, seaweed, salad and ponzu dressing.
Roasted beetroot salad dressing, fresh mint and chili flakes.

GP Salad Special:

Since I do not like Quinoa, I only had the beetroot and mung bean salad.
From the picture and the real thing, you can see how luscious and perfect the greens were with visible capillaries in the leaves just like freshly picked greens.
The sprouted mung beans, peas, edamame beans were bursting with sweetness and I loved the crunch especially the sprouted mung beans.
The beetroots were a little too hard but the greens were refreshing because of the chopped mint leaves, however the chili flakes were too spicy for my liking.

Luscious greens at your expense!

O Green Cafe (Sheung Wan)

I have always wanted to try this place but they do not open on Sundays, so the only time I can try it is during the weekdays.

The menu and style is similar to Dandy Cafe down the road.

The cafe is quite small with about 3-4 tables.

There is a salad bar at the front and a cabinet for drinks and vegan cakes.

Although they did not stop me taking photos, I just noticed the "no photo" sign on the way out.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Green salad:

As you can see, lots of luscious greens, topped with three slices of tofu, sauce and flax seeds.
I liked the fact I was paying for a green salad and that was what I got, no other nonsense and fattening dressings.
The salad tasted really nice and the tofu was panfried, but there was too much flax seeds for my liking.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Cucumber soda:

I expected the cucumber soda to be good because I have tried the Vanilla flavour which is not sweet at all.
It tastes like pure cooling cucumber with some fizz in it.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
The cost of this meal was quite expensive but the portions were huge and it was mainly greens which was good because they did not use cheap pastas to make it wholesome.

Your salad at Great Food Hall

Great Food Hall (Admiralty)

As well as this is place, Mxtrxpolitxn Cxfe in Admiratly which has bad customer service offers tossed salads.

The salad here is cheaper but there are less items to choose from some such as sweet mandarin slices and parma ham.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
My salad:

Although the choices for the salad are not as good as Mxtrxpolitxn Cxfe, there were more beans to choose from and greens too.
The sauce I chose was the Asian sauce which is savoury with a hint of sesame oil.
The spinach leaves, sweet peas and beetroot tasted lovely with that sesame dressing, and the cheese I chose gave it an extra touch of saltiness, while the beans were there just for extra protein.

Back for more Beautifood with da beautacious chefs

The food was so delicious last time so I was back for more.
My title should be beautiful chefs to be correct but the chefs are guys so it sounds a bit weird using the word beautiful, so I used beautacious!
This time I dined there so there was a 10% service charge.

I was really hungry so I ordered the Veg Yuba tacos and the sushi burrito.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Cantonese steamed fish:
In my previous review I forgot to mention the design of this sushi burrito.
There is a twisted end at the end of the wrapper which is designed to make the sushi come out when you twist it like lipstick.
They reminded me of sushi poppers which comeout by pushing the stick at the end.
The taste of this cantonese steamed fish was slightly different this time. There was no chili in it because the version I had before was modified to this one because it was too spicy.
The taste was still as nice as the first time because of the sauces and silky fish but rice was firmer this time and held together.
The sushi burrito also seemed bigger than the first time. I wonder if they made them bigger.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Vegetarian Taco trio:
This was three all vegetarian yuba tacos filled with roasted pumpkin with cream cheese, eggplant with yellow miso and porcini mushrooms with onion cream.
For the porcini mushrooms please see my previous review.
Roasted pumpkin with cream cheese
I wish there was more cream cheese in it because the taste of cream cheese was not that prominent.
The pumpkin was a bit too sweet for my liking. It would be good if they replaced the pumpkin with potatoes but that is my personal preference.
Eggplant with yellow miso
This was quite nice, it was molten eggplants with miso sauce inside with crispy spring onions.
Out of the three yuba tacos, my favourites were the porcini mushrooms and eggplant.
But in general I love these tacos and I hope to see more flavours in future.

Beautifood for a beautiful and beautilicious life

When I walked past this place, the bright pink immediately stood out.
(Not my hand!!!)

It reminded me of Bentopia especially the clear bag that holds the clear tubs of salads.

The napkins were really SASSY too, as if was written by lipstick saying "CALL ME" and I love the lipstick mark too!!!
I have always wanted to try Alvin Leung's creations at Bo Innovation but I never quite made it, anyway this place is at street level and easily accessible.

They specialise in healthly food with a mix of Japanese, Chinese and Western cuisine and there is a hint of gastronomy in there as well.

They serve salads, sushi burritos or you can get the combo which is a full salad and a half portion of sushi burrito.

There are four salads each with its own attractiveness, however there were two that won me, the Salty Lemon with seared salmon and the Unami Nicoise.

The first salad which was the Demon black caesar had a slight gastronomic touch because it had bacon flavoured chicken and black garlic dressing hence the name black caesar. I wanted to try this one but I have already eaten black garlic before.

The second salad was the Iconic true 8, which has a meaning behind the name, iconic because they used an iconic vinegar from HK called PAT CHUN which has the letter eight, hence the 8 in the Iconic 8!

The third salad is the Go Green which is plain vegetarian.

The fourth salad is the Unami Nicoise which got my attention because of the word Unami and the unami vinaigrette. I really wanted to try this because in UK there is a sauce called Unami No 5 so I wanted to see if the taste would be similar to that. This salad also had "Har -Mi" powder (grounded dried shrimps I think) which was another factor I had to get this salad.

The fifth salad which was Salty Lemon and seared salmon I had to get as well because I am a lemon freek and in the salad there are crispy pieces of seaweed which I like too!

If you don't like salads they have SUSHI BURRITO as well which is more filling, it is sushi wrapped in burrito. There is a BLT sushi burrito which is bacon, lettuce and tomato with rice in a burrito wrap or the Hot sichuan chick which is obviously spicy and the 3B Beef and black bean too with shichimi dust!!

For the sushi burrito I chose the Cantonese steamed fish and the Vegetarian taco trio.

When the salads were ready, I was so eager to collect it and it felt really cool carrying it about because the bag and packaging was really nice.

I feel really guilty my photos are not as good as my usual food photos but this time I just couldnt wait to dig in the salad that I rushed those photos.

Anyway I will get Beautifood again so there will be more photos.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Unami Nicoise:
I really loved the "har mi" powder that was sprinkled on it, the prawns were fresh and the dressing was really moreish.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Salty lemon and seared salmon:
I really loved this salad and there was generous dressing to cover every leaf in the salad.
The dressing was really refreshing that you felt hungrier after finishing it!
The crispy pieces of seaweed in the salad had this savoury taste which also made it moreish.
As for the seared salmon it was delicious and tender.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Vegetarian Taco trio:
I chose this one because they were tofu pockets, I never eat these in Japanese restaurants because they just taste sweet.
The ones here were different because they were filled with goodies.
Three all veg yuba tacos filled with roasted pumpkin with cream cheese, eggplant with yellow miso and porcini mushrooms with onion cream.
This was really fun biting into all these yummy fillings especially the porcini mushrooms with onion cream which had a delicious crisp crunch to it.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Cantonese steamed fish:
This was steamed sea bream, green onion lime sauce, grated ginger, carrots, cucumber, homemade soya sauce with DC's healthy rice mix in a seaweed wrap.
The fish was so silky and the green onion lime sauce looked so gastronomique.
The only thing I was not expecting was chili because it didnt say there was chili on the order form and it was no ordinary chili either, it was extremely hot chili!!
The green lime sauce had so many tastes to it that you cant get enough of it.
Apart from the chili, it was so delicious, there was mentaiko on top of the rice roll.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

After finishing the salad I knew I was still going to be hungry, but on the napkin it had a quote "eat 80% full and you will have a happier and healthier life" which is agreeable but since it was so delicious it was a bit hard to agree because I WANT MORE BEAUTIFOOD!!!
