[Restaurant Review] All you can eat breakfast at Toby Carvery for £4.89

I love breakfast so the all you can eat breakfast for £4.89 at Toby Carvery was really captivating.
If you are having Quorn sausages, this must be ordered when you pay.

At the breakfast bar, all these items should be there.
Bacon, Pork Sausages, Free Range Fried Eggs (v), NEW Hash Browns (v), Baked Beans (v),
Plum Tomatoes (v), Handmade Potato, Bacon, Cheese & Onion Hash, Freshly Roasted Mushrooms (v), Breakfast Gravy, Breakfast Yorkshire Puddings - Our famous homemade Yorkies with roasted onion and bacon bits, Toast (v) - With a selection of jams and spreads and Quorn™ Sausages (v) - Available on request.

Got there at around 10am and it was not very busy however at the breakfast bar, certain items were not refilled until later so you have to leave room for other bits.

I was looking forward to the hash but it was in a lot of oil so were the mushrooms.
The breakfast Yorkies are different in the sense that they have bits of bacon and onion in them and the breakfast gravy has a hint of tomato in it.

Overall, I would recommended the breakfast because you can try everything for an affordable price which is unlimited but some improvements are needed.
Some of the the items were in a lot of oil and the sausages were over done.
The gravy ladle was too hot to handle as it got heated at the breakfast bar.
The tea is bottomless but again you have to wait for them to refill the tea bags.

Saturday session with freeflow cocktails

Tried the Saturday session here which is priced at HKD450 (+service charge) where you get to enjoy free-flow cocktails and food platters from 2.30pm to 5pm with funky music.

Featuring cocktails mixed with absolut vodka, Chivas 12 year whisky and more.

DRINKS:
Yuzu and Mandarin Cosmos (abdolut vodka, madarin, yuzu and cranberry)

Smoked Peanut butter old fashioned (Chivas 12 year whisky, chocolate bitter, smoke, chamomile)

Bishonen (yakult, peach puree, strawberries, raspberries and ginger ale)

Ema Zuri (kiwi gold, yuzu zest, apple juice and lime)

To summarize, i liked the Bishonen which had a strong strawberry taste and the peanut butter.

PLATTERS:
Here are the platters and my favourites were the sushi and grilled items.

All you can eat dim sum at Zaan

Tried the all you can eat dim sum for $108 which does not include 10% service charge, tea and sauces.
So it rounds up to about $130 per person.

The dim sum creations are quite good but they don't taste as good as they look.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Taro roll stuffed with purple rice:

This was literally a slice of taro with purple glutinous rice in the middle and rolled up.
It was not too sweet but the taro slice was not steamed long enough as it was too hard.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Rice roll with BBQ pork:

It was too oily and the BBQ was not fresh and the colour was too dark.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
pork dumpling with mushroom:

In Chinese, it is supposed to be a shao mai but it just looked weird and tasted like fatty pork.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
honey and yuzu jelly:

too sweet
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Crispy dumpling with sweet and sour sauce:

This was the only decent tasting item.
It was crispy with nicely minced pork and black fungas inside.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
prawn dumpling:

The dumplings were quite oily.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
marinated chicken feet in vinegar and chili:

The chicken feet were too hard and the chili was too spicy.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
baked seafood puff, taro croquette stuffed with prune, crispy milk custard with almond:

Too oily and the pastries had the usual HK style buttery taste.

All you can eat at Bubble Sushi

Bubbles Sushi (Wan Chai)
Bubbles sushi offers all you can eat and there is no time limit which is why the price per person is slightly higher.
The staff in general are quite nice and patient except for one depending on her mood.
Quite a lot of people celebrate their birthdays here because they will play the Happy birthday song and serve a sushi birthday cake and take a photo for you which is ready to take home that night after the meal.
That night I went, there were at least four tables having birthdays there.

The range of sushi is impressive and they even have sushi with truffle and grilled flounder fish edges with salt.
For dessert, the range was a bit weird especially the fried mozarella sticks and sweetcorn puffs.
For the fried items, the deep fried octopus mouths were my favourite.
In the meat section they have grilled lamb, stir fried bittermelon with pork.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Grilled items:

This was grilled chicken liver and sweet potatoes.
The chicken liver was a bit raw and tasted a bit bitter and the sweet potatoes were cute but too sweet.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Sashimi:

A nice variety of sashimi.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Truffle sushi:

This was my favourite because the scallop sushi was topped with truffle and each one is shaped into a tiny ball of rice.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Baked crab shell:

Beneath the grilled cheese, it was creamy crab and vegetables.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Baked oysters:

I did not like it because I don't like Japanese mayonnaise.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Stir fried beef with bittermelon:

A Okinawan dish but the pork was too fatty.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Fried items:

My favourite fried octopus mouths.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Japanese congee:

The congee was quite interesting because the texture was different as it was cooked with Japanese rice.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Ice cream mochi:

Individually wrapped.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Cream puffs and strawberry swiss rolls:

I preferred the rolls without the sauce because they were sweet enough.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Fried mozzarella sticks:

These were weird!! They were savoury Mozzarella sticks drizzled with that strawberry sauce again and dusted with powdered sugar!
