Caramel brulee cheesecake by Spade by Lassana

After buying a crappy tiny Swiss roll for $68 I decided to investigate what $69 could buy.

I ended up getting a crème brulee cheesecake for $58, which is cheap as it was on promotion for $58 as an introductory offer.

Anyway, it had crisp caramelized layer on top which is why it is called a crème brulee cheesecake.

The texture was dense but velvety and the cheesecake had a fragrant creamy aftertaste.
It was sweet as well with a hint of lemon and it tasted of camembert.

Love bites with the apple of love

Jam Bakery (North Point)

According to my reviews, it has been four years since I last visited Jam Bakery.

They used to be located in Tai Hang and closed down for a while until they reopened here recently.

Jam Bakery is on the corner and the shop is quite see through.

This branch is much bigger than the previous place with a cake cabinet, cookie shelf and a reasonable dining area.

I decided to go to Jam Bakery because of the apple cheesecake which is also being sold at Sogo branded with Hello Kitty.

There was a green one and a red one.

To be honest, the green one was not appealing because the shade of green looked a bit like gunge and slime so I got the red.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Apple Cheesecake (RED):
I do not like the colour red, but red was more appealing than green in this case.
The apple looked so realistic I was tempted to bite it just like can apple, but in the end I dug in with a fork.

As a cheesecake, it tasted nothing like a cheesecake, but it was delicious if you treat it as a apple cream cake.
Fresh apple and cream with light sponge cake in the middle that was not too sweet with a hint of cinammon.
However it was weird it had raisins in it.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Apple Cheesecake (GREEN):
Came here again for the cheesecake because it was really nice.
The service was much better this time because this time I got a glass of water.

The green one had an extra piece of chocolate on top which was not there before shown on the first photo.
According to the earlier reviews, both the red and green should have a piece of chocolate on top.

I was expecting the RED and GREEN to taste the same, but as you can see there is much more apple filling in it.
The green one was much sweeter too, so in conclusion, I prefer the red one that I tried before.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
As well as the cakes, I was hoping to try Froyo because they had a unique cactus topping that you could choose.

A cup of Cheesecake!

Cheesess (Causeway Bay)
Had a tasting nearby so came here to kill time.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
New York Teacup Cheesecake:

It comes with a plastic bag so that you can keep the rubber cup and garden spade spoon!~
The texture of the cheesecake was still a little frozen but it tasted nice, it was dense and rich but the taste of cheese was not that strong.
It is similar to the Japanese style cheesecake taste with a Western cheesecake texture.
There is an optional berry sauce which would enhance it even more but I did not try that because I wanted to taste the cheesecake.

Japanese cheesecakes made with award winning cheeses

Arome bakery has launched a new cheesecake series made with cheese from Japan.
What makes the cheeses so special is that they come from Hanabatake Farm, and each of the cheeses are award winners from the 「ALL JAPAN Natural Cheese Contest」.

The two cheeses used in the cheesecakes are:
raclette cheese
- Awarded as the No 1 cheese in Japan in the 「ALL JAPAN Natural Cheese Contest」.
camembert cheese
- Awarded as the Premium cheese in Japan in the 「ALL JAPAN Natural Cheese Contest」.

There are three cheesecakes in the range:
raclette cheesecake, souffle cheesecake, and sponge cheesecake.

There is bound to be a cheesecake for everyone because when the bloggers voted for their favourites, each cheesecake had a fair distribution of people who liked it.
My favourite would be the Raclette cheesecake because it tastes like Western cheesecakes and the second favourite would be the sponge cheesecake which has a cakey texture.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Raclette cheesecake 濃烤芝士蛋糕:
(made with raclette cheese)

This was my favourite because it had a savoury layer of grilled raclette cheese on top and it was dense and mildly crumbly just how it should be.
There was a hint of lemon in it too which tasted like UK's Marks and Spencers lemon cheesecake.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Souffle cheesecake 日式梳乎厘芝士蛋糕:
(made with camembert cheese)

Hong Kongers are going to like this because in general they prefer Japanese food and the texture of this is light, soft and very crumbly because it did not hold together well.
It was my least favourite because the taste was rather buttery and I prefer a more hearty Western style cheesecake like the raclette cheesecake above.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Sponge cheesecake 海綿芝士蛋糕:
(made with camembert cheese)

For beginners to cheesecakes, they can try this because the taste of cheese is extremely light and the texture is just like a mildy dense moist cake.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
As well as the cheesecakes, there is also the hojicha caramel cheesecake 焙じ茶焦糖 which is going to be launched soon made with award winning Fresh caramel, awarded the Grand golden award by Monde Selection for three consecutive years since 2011.
Although I have not tried this yet, but I think it should taste nice because caramel can't go wrong.

McCafe Hong Kong : Green tea tofu cheese cake

Went to McCafe to try the new Green tea tofu cheese cake

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Green tea tofu cheese cake:

Visually it was quite nice with neat layers of tofu and green tea cake in the middle.
The taste was like strong vanilla mixed with a lot of sweetened condensed milk, but there was no green tea taste or tofu taste which was disappointing.
Since it was a cheesecake, I was also expecting some sort to cheese cakey taste, but there was none.

Happy Cheesecake by Saint Honore

This cheesecake looks visually weird and a bit too colourful for my liking!!
The different colours are: Passion fruit, chocolate, lime and strawberry.

Blueberry cheesecake @ Cova

Cova Ristorante & Caffe (Causeway Bay)

Tried the blueberry cheesecake at a gathering and it was surprisingly quite nice.

Often Chinese people do not like cheesy foods or cheesecakes, but this particular person finished the cake, so it is a likable cheesecake which is suitable for Hong Kong people!

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Blueberry cheesecake:

As for me, I liked this blueberry cheesecake too, the cheese was light and mousse like, the sweetness was just right complemented by fresh juicy blueberries on top and blueberry sauce.

McCafe Hong Kong: Creme brulee cheesecake

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Creme brulee cheesecake:

The creme brulee cheesecake looked really nice, it had a glazed top with different layers.
I found the cheesecake really heavy and it was too sweet as well.

It had a really strong sweet smell of caramel.

Japanese egg white souffle cheese cake

The packaging was really nice so decided to get it.
I liked the silver patterns against the silver.
As for the souffle cheese cake, it was the Japanese type, it was similar to dense mousse hence the souffle in the name.

The sweetness was just right and the cheese flavouring was not that strong.
