New hot chili chicken nuggets @ McDonalds

Saw the advert so had to give it a try, just to see how chilli hot and numbing they are.
From the advert, it has bits of chili in the nuggets, and on the actual nuggets the chicken patty inside is slightly pinkish.

With all Mcdonalds ads, I usually expect a visual difference between the actual product and the advertised product.

Anyway the chilli nugget tastes like grilled chicken burger that McDonalds also do, which is also has chilli powder in it too, but with a crunchy coating. The intensity of the chilli is acceptable.

chili corn carne @ Agave Tequila Y Comida

Its very hard to find good chilli carne in Hong Kong, usually the good ones are from british pubs, there will be some Chinese versions served in places, but they tend to add tomato in it, making it more like salsa.

As this place specialises in Mexican food, that did the trick, also you have to go on the day they serve chilli con carne on the menu too!!

So today, I ordered the lunch set with soup, mains and tea.

The soup base was thin, sprinkled with fresh coriander, tomato based with rice and chicken in it, it also had a dash of chilli sauce giving it some spice.

Then came the chilli con carne, I chose Mexican rice and re-fried beans to go with it, the rice portion was small, and re-fried bean is just mashed beans. The chilli con carne was excellent, lots of beans, beef, and fully flavoured.

The restaurant décor is quite aztec mexican style, open restaurant over looking Lockhart road, but the only drawback is the air conditioning, not cool enough and slightly humid due to the open style.
Winter would be a perfect time to come here again, especially because the food was spicy.

Chili whelks @ 御小廚

Quite cool, they had whelks in chilli sauce, my favourite, the portion was reasonable big and bigger than the portion I got at Star of Canton, also cheaper too!!

The whelks were reasonable clean too, not any sand in it at all.
The only thing that could be improved was that they should supply a fork or stick to eat them with.

Chili con carne pizza @ Pepperonis

If you've had the Chili beef pizza from Marks and Spencers frozen food section, the Acalpulo pizza from here tastes the same, except with extra sour cream on top.

Crispy pizza base with kidney beans, sour cream, guacamole sauce and beef.

Apart from the pizza, their pasta with clams is also another good choice, spicy chili and pasta tossed in olive oil with crushed garlic.

Part 1: Dipping Jack is back! @ McDonalds

Dipping Jack is back, Hooray!

The Chilli and Lime sauce caught my attention, it was so green on the commercial, and when I got the real thing, the colour was consistent with the commercial.

It looks like gunge and slime, which is slightly off putting, but something that is quite a breakthrough for McDs. Usually their sauces are white, yellow, red, orange, more on the warm colours, so this one really stands out.

The sauce is translucent green with finely grounded green and red chilli’s that can be seen.

For the taste, it was spicier than I expected, and slightly sweet as with all McDs sauces and a strong hint of lime.

Anyway, there shall be part 2, as I can’t wait to try the French cheese on the 16th!

Chili and lime flavoured fried chicken @ KFC

After trying the chicken nuggets with chili and lime sauce at McDonalds, I got the chili and lime flavoured fried chicken at KFC which was interesting.

The KFC version is chicken covered in chili and lime coating.

The chili was finely grounded which made it very hot, and you can taste the occaisonal lime flavouring in it.
Overall it tasted like tom yum kung fried chicken!
