[Appolo] Uji matcha froyo

I love Appolo's frozen yoghurt because it is the mother of all froyos in Hong Kong before the Froyo trend and it tastes natrual.
Went here because I was having dinner nearby and discovered that they had this uji matcha froyo which sounds good as you don't often find any froyo that is matcha flavoured.

As well as uji matcha, they also had this new Hokkaido vanilla flavour but you can't try them.

I was told that it was froyo mixed with uji matcha powder.

Anyway, the woman there was a bit grumpy so it was hard asking her about the different flavours.

There was some free strawberry yoghurt at the bottom from the last order.

As for the uji matcha, it was quite nice but a bit too sweet which overpowered the yoghurt flavour and the uji matcha flavour was quite strong with hard starchy bits of red beans in it.

Mutant blueberries at Pausa

PAUSA means Pause in Italian so that was exactly what I did. I paused here for dessert!!!!!

Previously, this used to be Beautifood but sadly it packed up.
Anyway, it is now an Italian joint selling pizzas, foccacias and pastas as well Italian gelato.

Tried the gelato cup and the blueberries stole the show because they were huge!

I wonder if there were bigger ones in the kitchen!!

The dessert cup was really good, I got a mix of strawberry gelato and vanilla.
I liked the vanilla the most because it was smooth and creamy.
They change the flavours now and then so I look forward to trying other flavours.

Lychee and coconut froyo from Appolo

The froyo here is rather addictive and the portions are big!!!

It is really good that you can choose two fruits to be blended in the froyo.

This time I chose lychee and coconut.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Lychee and coconut froyo:

The coconut taste was rather strong so you couldn't really taste the lychee, it was like coarse pieces of dessicated coconut in the froyo which felt a bit gritty.
When I did taste the lychee, it had a really fragrant sweet taste.
The combination of lychee and coconut resulted in a rather sweet tasting froyo.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Next time I am going to choose pineapple and coconut.

enjoy Appolo's new range of icecreams

Appolo is the oldest branch of froyo in Hong Kong where you choose the fruit of your choice to be blended with the yoghurt.
You used to find Appolo located in old malls, but since most malls have been renovated, Appolo has also enhanced their brand with enjoy Appolo which is part of the Appolo Ice-cream Group.

enjoy Appolo makes ice cream cakes and rolls for selected Appolo retail stores in their new bakery located in Kwai Chung.

The shop decor of enjoy Appolo is girly with lots of pastel colours.

Their cakes and desserts reflect the girly theme too.

They still serve traditional froyo as well for people who just want froyo.

I got the hami-melon froyo because I really like their fruit blended froyos.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
hami-melon froyo:

As always, the froyo tasted natrual with blended bits of hami-melon which had a icy sweet and savoury taste mixed with the gently sweet yoghurt.

Lychee and longan yoghurt @ Lab Made

Lab Made Liquid Nitrogen Ice Cream Laboratory (Tai Hang)
This time the lychee and longan flavour caught my eye.
If they had silky tofu flavour I would have tried that too which was the latest tasting flavour for the first lucky 800 people who queued at their opening in TST.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Lychee and longan yoghurt:

I found this creative because not often lychee is mixed with longan.
Usually they are separate items in desserts such as the longan sago.
Anyway, the pairing of the two were quite nice, chunks of fragrant lychee and sweet longan in the yoghurt.
The sweetness was just right too, but I couldnt figure out why the colour was pink because both lychee and longan are white fleshed.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Crunchy sea salt gelato with caramel sauce:

The sea salt gelato was quite plain but you could taste pieces of cheerios in it.
However the salt taste was not that apparent.

New fig and apricot frozen yogurt @ Appolo

Appolo (Tseung Kwan O)
I love the frozen yoghurts at Appolo, they taste natrual and it is just frozen yoghurt blended with frozen fruits.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Fig and apricot frozen yogurt:The fig and apricot was a new flavour that costs $40.

I felt that it was a bit too expensive for an Appolo product because their products are usually cheap.
At $40 is costs more than some of the icecreams at LabMade.
It seems that they are slowly rebranding and making their products more deluxe such as the new ice-cream rolls.

Anyway, when it was made, they put more apricot than fig into the bowl.
They only put one small whole fig in it.

As for the taste, the apricot was more prominent and the fig was not that apparent but you could taste the occasional sweetness and seeds from the fig.

Caramel Froyo @ Yo Mama

Yo Mama (Central)

Found out about the Caramel froyo flavour from a foodie.

I was meaning to try it but I was too lazy to walk to Admiralty or Star Street.

I happened to go past the branch at IFC, so I stopped by and got a cup.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Caramel froyo:

The caramel froyo was really good, it was as good as the Hazelnut flavour I previously tried.
It was thick and creamy with strong caramel taste.
Even though it was cold, you could still taste that distinctive caramel taste when it has been heated up.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
My favourite flavours at Yo Mama are now Hazelnut and Caramel.

Red Mango (Central)

Not long after I got my SODA card at FLAME, I received an invitation from SODA to use my SODA rewards at RED MANGO.

I went to FLAME for my usual roast chicken and I saw some people registering for a SODA card so I did that as well.
At FLAME, I got a free soft drink for first time registration, there after every time I visit flame, reward points will be collected and rewards will be unlocked.

The SODA APP and website have information on other participating eateries and most of my favourites were there!
Just for scanning your card, you get 5 points on every visit to any shop that has the SODA rewards scheme.

To celebrate the one year anniversary of Red Mango, they are offering all items at half price to people who have the Soda card until 28th May 2013.

At this event, SODA credited my card with 250 pts so that I could treat my fellow foodies with froyo and most importantly they could see and experience how my SODA card was used.

There is a Soda tablet at the corner and all you do is scan your card and enter your pin, choose the rewards.

This was the reward that SODA asked me to experience.

So without further ado, we all ordered our froyos.
The toppings are UnLiMiTeD provided they fit in the cup, however I was disappointed they did not have Blackberries as shown on previous reviews.

There are three sizes, but for the current reward, it was for the Junior size only.

There were parfaits too and I really wanted to try the falafel oniion wrap.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Raspberry froyo:
I really liked the froyo and the raspberry flavour reminded me of Yoplaits raspberry yoghurt, but because it was froyo, the texture was similar to soft serve and it melted easily too.
The dark chocolate curls and strawberry complemented it nicely.
Just for fun I tried the mochi and caramel pecans because I love pecans.
The mochi pieces were nice and big.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Green tea and original froyo:
I also tried the green tea and original but I felt that raspberry was the best.

Why is it called mousse when it is not mousse!

Crumbs (Jordan)

Walked past and noticed this Premium green tea mousse with green tea mochi so decided to try it.

At this branch you can dine there so the menu offers more variety than the other branches other which only offer froyo and scones.

I have tried their scones and froyo which were quite nice but not addictive enough to make me come back.

This branch only did takeaways according to the photos on Openrice.

Water is self service.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Premium green tea mousse:When I ordered it I was quite suspicious whether it was really mousse but the Chinese and English stated it was mousse so that was why I got it.

However when it arrived I was quite disappointed because it was not mousse, it was evidently a pudding so why call it mousse.

Luckily the dessert was ok and not too sweet and the mochi was nice.
