Cod FishMaw from Annie Gourmet 永發蔘茸海味行

Annie Gourmet 永發蔘茸海味行 is a specialist that sells Chinese delicacies which are ready to eat or packaged in dried form.
They also have frozen meat as seen at their booth at the Foodexpo.

Got a box of Cod Fishmaw from Annie Gourmet which can be prepared and cooked in different ways.
It has to be soaked for a while before being cooked.

As it was my first time preparing cod fish maw, I got the method online from The Chinese Soup lady.

After soaking a batch of cod fish maw, I made three dishes out of it: soup, chilled appetizer and cod fish maw with noodles.

The chilled is pretty simple, you treat it like jellyfish and toss it in whatever seasoning you like for example sesame oil with some salt but I used chicken gravy as I liked the taste of chicken gravy.

The soup was basically sweetcorn, egg and fishmaw soup, a suggested recipe by Annie Gourmet, another simple treat by just throwing everything in the pot and when you get the acquired taste, cornstarch is added to thicken the soup.

Last but not least was noodle with cod fish maw steak.
Another easy recipe where you just boil some noodles and serve it with cod fish maw with gravy poured on top!

As a first time with cod fishmaw, I was pretty satisfied with the dishes.

[素街 Veggie Guy] Veggie buffet

I am glad that more and more people are health conscious these days which means there are more vegetarian restaurants.
Getting popular than ever are vegetarian buffets.

A few years ago, there were quite a few good ones which didn't make it such as Red Mango, gik ji soh etc.
At Veggie Guy, you can practically experience the buffet any time of the day as they do lunch, afternoon tea an dinner.

This location will not be unfamiliar to vegetarians as this spot used to be THE VEGGIE.

At the buffet section, there were so many dishes to choose from. The DESSERT got my attention because it was English BREAD PUDDING!!!

As well as English dessert, they also had Sichuan mock chicken and other goodies.

Prawn toast:

Truffle egg guo bao:

I just couldn't wait to eat because the last two times I had vegetarian buffet was the wrong timing.
This time, everything was good and I ended up eating lots of stuff.
My favourites were the bread pudding, okra tempura, fried noodles, turmeric rice and much more,
Will definitely come back again.

[華香雞] Persistence and Passion

Wah Heung Chicken has been around for ages, according to the OR directory, WH Chicken has been at 18 different locations.

I vaguely remember it at Wanchai.

The fact that there were 18 locations before got me curious so I googled this restaurant and found out that the owner is really passionate about chicken that he worked at KFC to learn the tricks of the trade.

I believe Kwun Tong is now the best spot for it because the kitchen is nice and big to whip up the best dishes and the dining area can seat lots of people during lunch while the big tables would be good for big gatherings in the evenings and weekends.

Finally gave WHC a visit during lunch and I was happy for once that the food in KWUNTONG was not too salty.
I was really impressed they had water because I don't like Chinese drinks so water is always the best.

Overall you can feel the passion at the restaurant.

Every now and then they will have talks on how to be a better vegan.

They even have bowl feast for people to order.

I had trouble with the menu but the staff were really patient at explaining the dishes.

I ordered lunch with no regrets because I really wanted to try the rice vermicelli and turmeric rice. For the chicken, they have three types: signature and the wine infused chicken.

Ordered one each with the rice and vermicelli.
For the signature chicken, you can choose three different sauces: spicy, spring onion and ginger, the sa cha sauce.

Before I talk about the chicken, the vermicelli was the best I have had in a while because it was not sweet by default and the soy sauce they used was a good one.

The rice was also as good as expected because I love carbs but perhaps the turmeric could have been stronger.

As for the chicken, both were good but I liked the wine infused one because it had the extra punch while the signature relies on the sauces.

Will definitely come back in the evening and try the bigger dishes.

Rosy afternoon tea at [嚐品慕茶 Spoon & Bowl]

As well as the tea set I was captivated by the Decoupage workshop taught by Gillian H!!!

For the tea set, there are a choice of drinks.
$298 includes two drinks or you can upgrade to other fancy teas below:
+$40 cold brew oolong tea with Osmanthus ice ball or rose ice ball tea with oolong
+$30 a pot of ginseng oolong or lychee red tea for two.
The tea set is served in a beautiful wooden box which has decoupage on it by Gillian H.
Items in the Tea Set:

Savoury items:
Tofu in Honey Osmanthus sauce, Chilled Prune noodles in Rose buckwheat sauce, Mini floral rolls and crab mentaiko

Sweet items:
Lychee and Rose mousse cake, Rose Cupcakes, Rose Palmiers, Dried flower Butter cookies, Lavender oolong icecream, Jasmine and Rose icecream.

It was a nice way to appreciate floral ingredients in different forms like cake, cookies and icecream.
My favourites was the mini floral rolls crammed with lots of dried flowers while the tofu was enhanced by the honey osmanthus sauce.
To finish off, the tea was good especially the one with the ice balls as they were pretty and floral flavours come out when it melts.

The decoupage workshop was fun and once you have learnt the technique, you can apply it to other stuff.
It felt like paper mache but using decoupage to blend in the fabric to look like it was painted.

Woo Hooo! Moo Moo Burgers

At the moment, everyone is looking for a spot to watch the world cup.
Luckily I found out about this new joint as my friend works at the AIA building round the corner. Before the crowd came, my mission was to try their burgers as food is my priority!!!
I simply love the decor because you can notice it when you come round the corner from How Ming Street.
You will see this neon green logo of a burger on top of a milkshake.

If you come through the other door, you will see a sign pointing you to the left. (Note picture was taken from the other side)

Inside, it was relaxing and there are lots of plugs and USB ports.

What made me feel at home was the London Street Sign which has a meaning. M1 is the first branch, hence when they have a second branch it will be M2!

During the world cup, there are different burgers each week to represent the different countries.

The trophies are good for selfies.

For burgers, I had The Classic and the Sexy Chick (Chicken).
The classic patty is made of Premium Angus beef which was juicy and tasty and the secret sauce was so good because it was moreish.
It had caramelized diced onions and bacon which made it delicious.

The Sexy Chick had a spicy kick to it and the chicken was lean and tender.

For fries, there were plain, Bolognese and Poutine.
The poutine was definitely my choice to satisfy my gravy and cheese cravings.

Finished with milkshakes because milkshakes is their signature as well as burgers from their logo. The vanilla one was impressive because there was a strong vanilla taste and it was not too sweet.
The peach tea was a surprise as you could taste some peach juice in it.

After indulging on the food, it was nearly time for the match, my friend had the shisha.

While my friend was having the shisha, the place was getting packed already.

Overall, I had a great time and I shall be back to explore the other eateries at Hung To Centre.
