Fresh and gourmet seafood @ ANA Oyster & Grill

ANA Oyster & Grill (Causeway Bay)

Came here to celebrate a fellow foodies birthday so we had a nice private room.
While we were there, there was some guy proposing to his girlfriend.
Anyway that night it was courses of seafood followed by seafood, I have never eaten so much seafood in one meal before.

Oysters:

First started off with oysters. There were four different types and started from the right hand side because the taste gets stronger as you progress from the different types of oysters.
They were still in the natrual brine so you could taste the saltiness of the sea water.
I did not use any lemon or seasoning because I wanted to see what it tastes like without.
The sea water was quite salty, so it did affect the taste a bit but they were delicious.

South African abalone:

The abalones were HUGE!!! They were so big that you can see and feel the tentacles.
The sauce they used was a bit sweet.

Scallops:

These scallops were huge as well, the diameter was about the same size as a lemon sliced in half!!!
The scallops were fresh and sweet so I ate it without seasoning.

Crabmeat salad with fish roe:

The black fish roe on top fooled everyone, it was not caviar but black coloured fish roe.

The roe and crab were delicious and the crabmeat beneath was nice and creamy and paired nicely with the garlic bread.

White radish soup with oysters/白蘿蔔蠔湯:When I saw this on the menu I though it was Chinese but it was actually Western soup which was a good surprise!!

It was sweet and the oyster in the soup was a perfect match.

Grilled scallops:
This was delicious!! It did not have that charred taste and the roe part tasted so nice after it had been grilled.

Razor clams:
Never seen these before in Europe so they looked a bit weird, anyway, they tasted ok but there were some sand in them.

Meat on the bone:
I was surprised they had this here too after trying it at World Steik meats.

Sorbet:
The sorbet we had was mixed berries and it was really refreshing to finish with.

I read their previous reviews and they had Lemon and Rocket lettuce sorbet /檸檬火箭菜雪葩 which looks delicious and creative.

There were lots of other delicious dishes we had that night, but the best ones are shown above which is quite a feast already because that was not even half the stuff we had!!!

Risotto served on a scallop shell @ The Bull and Bear

Last week, wanted to eat here, but it was being refurbished, so finally came here today.

It is quite a small pub, so there was only 4-5 tables and some bar tables.

The menu today was quite good, had difficulty deciding what to order.
Chicken steak, Pork with lemongrass gravy, risotto, and beef tenderloin.

In the end of I got the Risotto, I rarely order Risotto, because the places here dont do it right, but the one from here was nice and cheesy yet not sickly.
Also there was lots of big prawns, scallops in the rice.
It was piping hot too!

The desserts were as good as before, however the portion was smaller than before!

Massive scallops!! @ 優質堂國際有限公司 A Style International Ltd.

A Style had a stall at the food fair in Diamond featuring their usual range of frozen seafood ready to eat once thawed, including their big spider like crabs and shellfish.

For their cooked snacks they had ready to eat big scallops for $20, a choice of buttered or Teriyaki.

I got the Teriyaki, and the scallops were quite big, the orange part was the best, usually they taste rubbery, but this one tasted velvety just like pate and fish roe.
In terms of scallop anatomy, the orange part is the ovary-testis according to the Fisheries and Aquaculture Department .

Six piece deluxe sushi set @ Sushi express

I suppose it is cheap to get a sushi set for $43 which includes Sea urchin, Cod roe and Scallop.

I found it appealing because it was a combination of the three items that I liked.

I had the scallop sushi to start with because it had the lightest taste.
The taste was ok, not particular good or bad.

Next I had the sea urchin because the cod roe is saltier in comparision.

The colour of the sea urchin was dull orange, and it was bitter.
This was the first time I have tried bitter sea urchin, usually it tastes sweet and creamy.

Lastly I had the cod roe, it was different to the cod roes I have had previously, the size of the roe was much smaller in diameter than the usual ones. It was roughly the size of BB guns pellets.
The colour of the roe was reddish orange, not the dark orange ones I have seen before.
The roe was all stuck together by a membrane and not loose like the ones I have seen.
The roe also had a bitter and salty taste.

Scallops scallops scallops @ Sushi Express

The variety of sushi and bento's are quite good at this Sushi takeaway.

This time I tried the scallop bowl, the scallops were cooked, but the texture and taste was like Scallop Sashimi which was good.

In the bowl, it contained shredded egg and seaweed to compliment it.

Overall, the sushi here is impressive, the pick a mix is cheap as well at $3 per sushi.

Conspiracy dinner under close surveillance

I was at a round table meeting with the secret society about some plans of possible asteroid attacks.

While at this meeting, we had to order food and pretend to be normal civilizians, however our meeting was nearly uncovered by some opposition agent dressed as a waitor who kept us in heavy surveillance.

After a while, two agents appeared and kept close watch on us.

Luckily our meeting details were discussed and ended successfully without being exposed!
During the secret meeting, they ordered beef ribs in black pepper gravy, steamed scallops and lobster with E-noodles.

Lobster with E-noodles
The noodles were quite nice and the cheese sauce was not too heavy.
However the lobster was overcooked.

The concept of this was really good, but the beef was unbelievably gamey that no one would eat it.

The scallops were nice and tender and the green onions and garlic complimented it very well.
