Panash DIY Sandwiches

At Panish, they have DIY sandwiches, so you just choose the bread and filling, queue up, pay and collect your sandwich.

I chose the bread with ham and cheese but I was annoyed they don't ask you if you want it toasted or not.
The sandwich was ok but the portion was really small.
It was a nice combination of mustard, cheese and ham.

Hive your way here for hotpot at Hive Hotpot (Tsim Sha Tsui)

HIVE is a great place for hotpots and most of the diners are office people because the environment is chic and classy.

We started off with a pork lung broth which was surprisingly quite good because the broth had a rich almond taste which made it nice and creamy.
The pork lung broth would be a good choice if your looking for something milky but fed up with the soymilk broth.

Before we started, we had a fresh sashimi platter.

Then there were these delicious squid rolls wrapped in seaweed which can just be eaten without putting it in the hotpot.

The hotpot items were fresh and presented nicely.

My favourite was the squid patty with a sweet purple potato base.

The chunky sweet potato takes a while to cook, so be patient.
As well as that, we had deep fried eel in batter which was delicious because the eel was delicate and crispy in light batter.

For dessert, it was a surprise because they gave you truffle as well which was silky with an appropriate bitter aftertaste.

burrito from Calimex

Mr Taco Truck which used to be in Quarry Bay is now in Central and now there is Cali-Mex.
There are three branches of Cali-Mex, the first one opened in Central, followed by Wan Chai and now the third branch at Quarry Bay.
The other two are dine ins, but this one is takeaway only.

Previously tried the Central branch and I loved it.

Had the burrito which was loaded with delicious beans, rice and all that.

Definitely a good choice compared to the other local expensive crap around the area.
Another great option along with Enoteca, News Room and the other Western dos!~

Anyway, as I love Central, I shall be eating at that branch more often!

Great food at Wu Kong Shanghai Restaurant (Causeway Bay)

My friends from UK were back so decided to have some non Western food on the first meet up.

As they were not familiar with Hong Kong we decided to meet up below the famous big TV at Times Square!

Unfortunately, it was not working that night.

We attempted to go to Paradise Dynasty but it was too busy so we randomly went to Wu Kong.

When we got there, the restaurant was 70% full.

The menu seemed moderately expensive but luckily the food was edible.

It was very noisy so it took a while to adjust to the noisy settings.

Here was what we had:
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Tofu filled with vegetables:

This was delicate tofu filled with finely chopped vegetables which were not grassy but it was a bit too salty.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Peking duck:

The Peking duck is different to the UK ones because it was coated in corn starch and deep fried, but it was ok because the duck was meaty and soft.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Wontons in chicken soup:

We found something in it and it was nice of them to cook a fresh one again!!!
It was ok but too salty.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Vegetable rice with salty pork slices:

The vegetable rice was soft and went well with the other dishes but there was a strong lard taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Mushrooms with finely chopped preserved vegetables:

This was my favourite because the mushrooms were flavoured by the preserved vegetables.

Batman Justice league at McDonald's

I am not a fan of Batman but a glutton for new items at McDonalds.

This time they have launched a new burger, squeezy cheesy fries and this new sparkling green apple tea.

I only got the fries and the new drink.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
sparkling green apple tea:
The drink was really nice to begin with because it wasn't too sweet.
It tasted like a mix of cola and apple syrup, but when I was halfway through I stirred it and mixed the syrup at the bottom which made it too sweet.
So next time when I am going to have it, I will ask for it without the syrup.
Overall, it was a nice drink but it shouldn't be called a tea because there was no tea taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Squeezy cheesy Fries:
This was the fun part, you are given a tub of squeezy cheese sauce which you squeeze on to the fries.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Bacon bits:
Then there is a sachet of my favourite dried bacon (reconstituted bacon).

After adding it, the fries looked like this.

Basically the combination of cheese and bacon tasted really nice provided the fries were perfectly done with no rancidness or being overly crispy.
The only complaint was that the cheese and bacon was a little too salty.

Dehydrated ravioli at Alfafa (Tai Koo)

Tried the ravioli which was actually quite nice because the sauce was really strong and tasted like a particular brand of chicken soup in Europe.
The only complaint was that the ravioli skin was dry and chewy, evidently heated up in the microwave.
The proscuitto was soft and tasty.

The milk pudding was really nice because it was really silky and the texture was similar to tofu pudding which is curd like.

Finished off with tea which was ok.

das sheiße at Das Gute Cafe (Tai Koo)

sheiße!!!!
Ich hatte das sheiße Frühstück!!!

Originally I was going to order the salmon burger but saw the real thing which did not look appetizing so opted for the $68 breakfast.

They will bring over a bread basket where you choose a bread.
The one I chose did not taste that nice because the texture was not springy.

Now to the breakfast!

Wow, that was stingy!!!
The bacon looked liked i was boiled.

The mushroom was just ridiculous! One tiny button mushroom sliced into five pieces!!
At least it shows the chef is good as slicing small things into even smaller pieces.

The scrambled egg was not even a scrambled egg, it was just egg beaten up and fried.

Lastly finished off with a really foul tea!
It was as dark and as bitter as coffee.
