[Dining at Murasaki] Purple romanticism

After seeing this delicious dish posted by PJ Moments I had to go and try it.
The dish I was after is available during lunch so went for lunch.

Dining at Muraski is spacious and has lots of tables with good privacy.
There is also a private room that can host lots of people as well.

For the lunch set, you get salad, steamed egg, mains, rice, pickles and dessert.

Started with salad which was crisp and sweet with a mix of greens.
The steamed egg was tasty crammed with lots of seafood topped with pretty salmon roe.
Personally I am not a fan of Japanese steamed egg but the one here was the best I have ever tried.

For the soup, it was red miso which is my favourite because it has a strong smell and miso taste.
Moving on to the Murasaki Chirashi, it looked just exactly like the photos, topped with uni, salmon roe, cucumber and egg.

The best thing is that it comes with a side of crispy sakura shrimps which have been roasted in the oven so it has a super crispy texture.

The rice gives you ricegasm without the crispy shrimps but when you add them, the flavour comes out even more and you can't stop eating it.
I wish there was more crispy shrimps!!

But anyway, the salmon roe, uni, crispy shrimps and cucumber just taste amazing together with the rice.
We also shared the sashimi set which was fresh with a good variety of sashimi.
My favourite was the baby eels, scallops and toro.

The lunch came with mango sorbet which was a sweet ending but we also had the highly recommended popping candy which turned out to be crazily delicious and my birthday surprise.

I was literally expect popping candy but it was Mandarin, lychee and guava pearls with pear brandy jelly and peach crushed ice with rice soup poured on it.

The pearls pop in your mouth with this heavenly liquid. The lychee and mandarin were my favourite and all the elements were not too sweet.

[Coffeeholic] Great food as well as Coffee

Recently discovered that this joint served enticing food so decided to try it out.

The decor inside is nice with a touch of French and English, while there are some French/Italian inspired dishes on the menu.

As the ground floor was full, we were seated upstairs.

Ordered the Italian braised beef, All day breakfast, Japanese matcha latte and Pink Himalayan sea salted caramel latte.
Despite the joint was busy, the food came extremely fast!!
++++++
All day breakfast:

I was looking forward to this and it was definitely good so I ate everything.

Rarely do I order breakfasts in HK because restaurants just put crap together like fake sausages and other weird stuff but everything on this plate was delicious.There was a hot spring egg, green salad, Pain de Mie, potato truffle salad, tornado wedges and avocado salad. I love potatoes so it was great there was potato salad as well as wedges.
The wedges were fried perfectly so they were not wasted and I even put some egg yolk and avocado on it to make it evilicious.

The potato salad was divine, they were not too soft and starchy with a potato taste as well as truffle.
I loved the way the salad was jazzed up with tasty sundried tomatoes and yummy macadamia nuts.

++++++
Italian braised beef:

A nice dish of braised beef in tomato sauce, again paired with these delicious tornado wedges and healthy avocado salad.
++++++
Japanese matcha latte:

The matcha latte is served with a side of Okinawa black sugar but it tasted good without so I didn't need it.
It had a pleasant taste without being too grassy or bitter and the sakura flower spoon is so pretty.
++++++
Pink Himalayan sea salted caramel latte:

Beautifully presented and the foamed cap was lovely with a decent saltiness to compliment the latte.
++++++
Finished with warm brownies.
Both were good especially the chocolate.

Electrifying burgers at Electric Ave

I have always wanted to try this place because of their famous burgers.

Electric Ave to me is a street in Brixton, UK where they have lots of Caribbean restaurants in that area.
Brixton is a lot more hip these days with other restaurants.

Anyway, this is the second Burger joint that I have been to in HK opened by a Brit.
What makes this one special is that everything is made in house by them from the sauces to the patties.
The chips are hand cut, soaked in ph water to remove the starch, fried three times so the chips are the most time consuming and take about 5 hours according to the menu.

It is best to eat with a friend because they have chips and fries which are both good.

Anyway, we ended up having two burgers: Classic beef with Fruit pig black pudding and the Creamy chicken.

Both burgers came in a delicious soft fluffy bun.
++++++
Classic beef with Fruit pig black pudding, bone marrow chips:

Evidently it was very tasty with lots of flavours going on as there are about 100 different ingredients inside, a touch of spiciness and sweetness and every bite was sensational.
There were onions, cheese, siracha, pickles etc.

The best bit is the black pudding which was velvety and there was a huge chunk inside the patty but unfortunately I didn't take a picture of it.
Moving on to the chips, nothing beats some real chips which you can't get in HK and these are laced with bone marrow which you can taste and smell. It has this beefy aroma to them.

++++++
Creamy hache chicken and rosemary fries:

I was really impressed with this because chicken is usually boring but they really jazzed it up. I thought it was going to be smothered in a creamy sauce but it was dressed with arugula and lots of herbs.
It tasted like Vietnamese chicken pho because of the aniseed and it was chicken hash so you still get the chicken texture.

The rosemary fries were perfectly done because I like them blonde, perfectly crisp on the outside yet fluffy on the inside.
++++++
Definitely coming again.
Next time I will order the veggie burger in advance because they do good veggie burgers as well.

Fxxking good at 65 Peel 何蘭正

In English this place is called 65 Peel, in Chinese, it is called 何蘭正 so if you don't pronounce it properly it sounds like ho lun jeng which is like saying something is so good that you need to express it with a swear word.

The food didn't disappoint and quite a few dishes were damn good and memorable.

Evidently they are creative if you look at the photos before like the lobster hotdog which uses fried doughsticks instead of the usual bun.

They have discontinued this item but the items we had were equally as good.

Started with drinks first while looking at the menu.

At first the drinks list seems complicated but then I figured it was a table with origin, alc vol etc.

I chose the Lemon Lime Hop (AUS) and the Dry Fresh apple Cider (UK).

Just tried a sip of the Cider and it was wonderful because you can taste the apple juice, as for the Lemon Lime Hop, it tasted a bit like beer with some bitterness and the sweetness strangely tasted like grapes.

Here was what we had:

++++++++

Molten Cheese with apricot:

The cheese was runny inside as stated on the menu because when I picked it up, I accidentally broke the breadcrumb coating and Tomino cheese oozed out. These bites were delicious with the apricot beneath it and the best thing is that the apricots are real halved apricots and not puree.
+++++++++
20 Hours Beef cheek truffle pasta:

This was amazing, everything was in harmony from the earthy mushrooms, the soft beef and the pasta itself.
I loved the pasta they used because they chose tagliolini which is really fine in width and hangs all the sauce when you eat it.
+++++++++++++
Typhoon Shelter M6 Wagyu Beef:

I was recommended this and it was brilliant. To me Typhoon shelter dishes are dry cooked with crispy garlic and black bean but the juicy Wagyu beef came in this delicious gravy.
The tofu blocks were a bonus because I thought it was just going to be plain beef in this dish but these pieces of tofu are damn addictive because the texture is soft inside and it soaks that delicious sauce.
++++++++++
We also had the 24 month Iberico Bikini that came with a modern twist because the Iberico was crispy which made it like posh bacon.

++++++++++
For desserts we had Churros with salty egg yolk and caramel sauce and the Dark beer tiramisu.

The Churros were the best I have had, they were coated in a lovely sugar cinnamon coating that didn't make it too sweet while the sauce carried a slight bitterness which works well together.
The tiramisu was light and the sponge was literally soaked with black beer.
Strangely I could taste orange in it as well.
I will definitely be back to try the chicken because they said it was the signature dish.

The second branch of Toyosu Suisan in HK

Toyosu Suisan has been a success since they opened with fresh ingredients imported from Japan.
Now there is a second branch in Yau Ma Tei conveniently located near the MTR exit.
I attended the opening in mid Jan where they kicked off with a drum performance and preparation of a whole Maguro which was served that day.

After watching the performance, I went upstairs and had the Flying Maguro bowl with soup.

It was just simply delicious because all the ingredients were fresh with diced cucumbers, fresh yam, abalone, maguro, prawn, salmon roe and egg.
The salmon roe was just amazing and bursts in your mouth with saltiness.

I was surprised they also throw in the abalone liver and the size is quite big in comparison to the abalone.
Last but not least was the soup which was rich in flavour.
You are supposed to drink the soup first but I prefer to eat first as the soup fills my stomach.
