Glistening golden birds nest for desserts

Apart from desserts with the delicacy Birds Nest, this place also sells jars of Birds Nest.

I ordered the clear jelly with melon and birds nest, however she said there was no melon so I had to choose another fruit/item.

The other choices were watermelon, lychee, rambutan, papaya, purple rice, and mango.
As I didnt like the other choices I chose Rambutan.

Clear jelly, rambutan with golden birds nest:
When it came, the birds nest was golden and glistening, there was coconut milk poured on the jelly and rambutan.
Comparing it to other reviews, the birds nest seem to have been served separately before but when I went it was put on the top.
Overall, I liked the jelly with the coconut milk and the birds nest, but I did not like the rambutan because it came from the canned and it was really sweet.
It was good that they did not use grass jelly because it would not look as good visually as the clear jelly and the taste of the grass jelly is much stronger.

Bird's nest mooncake @ Wing Wah 2012

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Egg custard and diced egg yolk:
This was really nice and the egg yolk was not that salty, the overall texture was slightly starchy.

Bird's nest in custard with sweet potato and bean paste:
I was expecting this to taste nice but the smell was really artificial.
It smelt like playdoh.
I was not expecting a fair amount of bird's nest but it could not be seen in the filling with the naked eye.

In conclusion the Cherry flavour and Pandan flavour tastes the best.

Bird's nest treat @ 官燕棧

Bird's nest is such a popular delicacy for the chinese including claimed health benefits, its so strange that not many reviews have been written solely on Bird's nest, although there have been reviews on items that contain bird's nest ie egg tarts.

For less than $200 dollars, this gift set of bird's nest comes with a small box of dried fish maw.
To be precise the set was priced at $179.

Basically the box contains 5 bottles of birds nest, it was labelled "unsweetened" even though the label states there are slight flavourings in it.
I was slightly dissappointed it was flavoured, because I wanted to taste it in its most natural form.
Luckily the sweetness wasnt sweet, its colour was golden orange, almost if it was artificially coloured too!

I consumed it as a drink, most of the contents was liquid with pieces of bird's nest.
The texture of the bird's nest bits reminded me of Hasma, and there were some chewy bits too which was like chewing on meat strands.
