Went here because of the purple potato softserve.
Attempted to go before but there was a big crowd so I didn't bother wasting my time so went another day when there was less people.
As I was greedy I went for the mix which was salted caramel and sweet potato but unfortunately there was more salted caramel icecream than sweet potato which can only be seen on top so I couldn't really taste the sweet potato.
The doriyaki filled with sweet potato was nice though and not too sweet.
I will definitely come back again for the sweet potato icecream on its own

Indonesian sweet potato
This place is closed every time I walk past and that day is was open so I took a quick look to see what food they had.
They had fried chicken but as I was planning to have lunch, fried chicken was a bit too heavy so I got the sweet potato instead.
There are three sizes: small, medium and large.
The small was sold out so I had to get the medium.
The sweet potato was a bit dry and not that sweet with lots of fibre in it which was great for roughage.

Purple shock from Maxim's MX
I have always thought that Maxim's MX was boring so when I walked past I was shocked and stunned to see that they had Sweet purple potato juice.
After I ordered it people began to order it because they didn't seem to notice it or they were not brave enough to risk it.★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Sweet purple potato juice:
The juice was quite thick with pieces of sweet potato lumps in it and the sweetness was just right with a fragrant purple sweet potato taste.
It is almost like having a Chinese sweet soup but the sweetness is not so intense.
The drink is good for breakfast because it was very filling but having a cup of it is a bit too much!!

One potato, Two potatoes, Sweet potatoes
On my last visit, I came here for chestnuts.
After I wrote my review I found out that they did sweet potatoes as well so I went back for them.
Here is the chestnut roaster which they use to roast their chestnuts.
Interesting grapefruits wrapped in bright striped plastic outside their shop.
The sweet potatoes are in an oven which keeps them warm.
I like these sweet potatoes because they do not have a coal smell and and the skin is clean!
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Sweet potato:
The sweet potato that was yellow was really sweet with a nice earthy taste and its texture was slightly viscous.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Purple skin sweet potato:
For those who do not like sweet potatoes that are really sweet, the white one is a better pick because it is not so sweet and the texture is denser and starchier.

Heirdoomed
I have always wanted to try this place because they seem to serve the food I like.
Heirloom Eatery & More is located on Hollywood Road near these funeral services, hence the sightings of Chinese Hearses parked nearby.
Chinese Hearse's are different to Western ones which are black and the Chinese ones are metallic blue.
Anyway, the restaurant environment is nice with the sun shining through, there is a bar table in the middle if you don't get a table seat.
There is seating upstairs as well.
The toilet which I did not check out is really nicely decorated according to the reviews.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Torta Bien Rica $90:
This was a toasted baguette filled with black beans, avocado, sour cream, tomato and jalapeno chili served with Sweet potato fries.
Not many places serve sweet potato fries which is one of the reasons to dine here.
Sweet potato fries are a popular thing in North America.
I loved the baguette because it was crusty and yeasty packed with so many flavours from the creamy avocado, tangy tomato and sour cream and the kick from the jalapeno chilis.
The black beans were mashed which mixed well with the other ingredients.
Finally the sweet potato fries were interesting because they were savoury and sweet.

For people who claim charity expenses on their tax bill, they should check their receipts because there is a compulsory $1 that goes to Hagar International Charity.
To be honest it should be made visible.
According to the Hagar International Charity website it says:
Heirloom joins Hagar in recognizing the important role that the food & beverage industry plays in economically empowering Hagar’s clients through education, on-the-job training, and career progression opportunities.
At Heirloom, customers now have the option of adding HK$1 to their meal, which will directly benefit Hagar International.
I was NOT given AN OPTION nor was I informed when I paid!!

Arome bakery room's Purple sweet potato tart
Arome Bakery (Kwun Tong)
Arome bakery has launched the new Okinawa purple potato series.
Previously I tried the Okinawa purple potato roll which was a chocolate swiss rolls covered with sweet potato puree filled with cream.
(please see link below for that review)
This time I had some time to kill before a tasting so got the Okinawa purple potato tart.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Okinawa purple potato tart:
The tart costs $20 which is $4 more than the roll.
It is held in a paper tray which is convenient and luckily ABR can provide you with plastic forks if you want to eat it right away.
Inside the tart, there was chocolate cake and cream just like the roll.
Again, it was delicious and there was more sweet potato puree compared to the roll so if you like the sweet potato this would be a better choice but if you don't like the tart base then you should get the roll and its cheaper.
The chocolate cake and sweet potato tasted really good together because it was not too sweet and the sweet potato was velvety and had a natrual taste.
The tart base is basically their usual tart base that they use for tarts which was buttery just like shortbread.
In conclusion, I prefer the roll because I don't like the tart base and it has a better ratio of chocolate roll and sweet potato.

Warming sweet potato drink with French tarts
I never dine at Hui Lau Shan unless there is something new because the usual choices are too local and it is just mangoes and coconut which I do not like.
Bravo! they now serve some French tarts by Boncolac.
The new baby white peach cheesecake was interesting because the peach was green.
There was blueberry cheesecake as well.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Hokkaido sweet potato drink:
I wasn't impressed at first because I got my hands sticky when I held the glass cup!
Anyway, apart from sweet potato, there were lots of other goodies in the drink such as purple sweetcorn and you can really taste the sweet potato infused in the drink.
The only disappointment was that it was way too sweet.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Strawberry tart:
The strawberry tart was really nice, it had plump mushed strawberries on top with a thin layer of custard between the tart and the fruit.

Boring sweet potato mochi snack @ Panash
Panash (Tseung Kwan O)
Initially came here to get the chocolate souffle but it was rock hard when I used the bread tongs to pick them up.
Got the mochi because it was Sweet potato flavoured.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Sweet potato mochi snack:
The sweet potato mochi looked interesting so decided to get one.
Usually the flavours are chocolate, berries, cheese or plain.
I was puzzled why it was not called a pontikege because it was a pontikege and not a mochi.
There was no sweet potato taste or real sweet potato pieces in it which was disappointing.
It just tasted like the plain pontikege so why call it Sweet potato.

Okinawan sweet potato pie from Das Gute
Das Gute (Tseung Kwan O)
Discovered this new Okinawan sweet potato pie on Open Rice.
It basically had purple sweet potato filling and cream inside it so I had to try it.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Okinawan sweet potato pie:
The pie looked more like a turnover or a triangle shaped puffed.
I really liked the taste of the pie because it was not too sweet but I didn't find the cream on my first bite as it was on the other side.
But it was really delicious because the velvety sweet potato and light whipped cream tasted deliciously together.
If the pastry had been flakier it would have been perfect.

shh..its a girls best secret for delicious cakes
Cake's Secrets (Western District)
I have always wanted to go to this place but I never put it on my wish list because I used to think Kennedy Town was far until I made the effort to try Bistronomique, Tapaella Grill and this other hotel nearby.
That night, I was at a tasting nearby and it just so happens Mjqueen7e wanted to check this place too so we went together.
Initially I didn't know we wanted to try the same one cake shop because I did not know the Chinese name of this place.
Inside the cake shop there was a cabinet displaying the cakes and a two small tables.
Thanks to Mjqueen7e for treating me to these heavenly beautiful and delicious cakes.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Purple sweet potato cake:
Although I have never liked savory and sweet tastes together, but this was amazing.
The purple potato tasted natural and you could taste its natural savoriness.
The purple potato was extremely silky and light just like velvet and when eaten with the delicate soft cake inside it was a perfect match.
The cream inside the cake was also light and dreamy.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Green tea red bean cake:
Anyone who has seen this Green tea cake will be captivated by its interesting fortress appearance.
I have always imagined how I would eat this cake and wondered if the green tea sticks surrounding it would be crispy or biscuit like.
The red beans in the cake were hard and not starchy which were nice.
I attacked the cake by eating the sticks surrounding it which were similar to green tea flavoured macarons but in stick form.
The green tea cake in the middle was deliciously complemented by the cream and red beans.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
If this place was not so far away, I would definitely be back.
I hope they open a branch in Central soon.
