Happy noodles at Delight Noodles

Found this neat and clean place for cart noodles.

The menu is clear and simple and you tick what you want.

Note: There is a minimum order of a noodle and two toppings per person.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Cart noodles:

The pork knuckles were a bit pale and could be tastier.
As for the shitaake mushrooms, they were huge and hard to pick up with chopsticks.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Signature noodles:

These noodles were amazing, each strand was distinct tossed in delicious sesame oil and secret sauce topped with fragrant dried sakura shrimps, sesame and spring onions.
It is a pity you have to order other toppings because it tastes perfect on its own and doesn't need other items.
Luckily the toppings are served separately so the sauce does not get mixed with the noodles.
Anyway, definitely coming back for this!

Fung Shing Restaurant is worth trying

Fung Shing Restaurant (Prince Edward)
Here I was thinking it was another boring Chinese meal again with the same usual items, eg an appetizer, some sort of chicken, steamed fish, fried rice and noodles but it was not and turned out to be the best meal I have tried.
Unfortunately my camera didn’t have any batteries which was a waste!
Arrived at the restaurant and it was brightly lit with crystal chandeliers and glistening décor, although it was brightly lit there were tell tale signs that this restaurant has been here for years with décor to disguise it.
After settling down, it was the usual annoyance because I go into restaurants expecting their bowls and cups to be clean and not have to clean it myself.
The items on the set meal seemed interesting, it was not the usual fare because I did not know that it was Shunde style food that time.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Menu:
Crispy roast piglet
Panfried prawn potstickers
Minced pigeon with lettuce
Silkie chicken with sharks fin
Shunde fish rolls
Stir fried vegetables
Stir fried milk
Fried chicken
Fung Shing fried rice
Fried flour dumplings
Baked sago with lotus paste
Fresh fruits
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Crispy roast piglet:
Normally I take a bite and thats it but the piglet here was divine, it was fatless~
I ended up having about four pieces.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Panfried prawn potstickers:
In Chinese they were called Woh teep but when they came, it was a whole prawn on toast.
The great thing was that the fried bread had no oily taste and I added some chili sauce to it which enhanced it even more.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Silkie chicken with sharks fin:
The soup was good too!
The chicken was so soft and full of flavour from the soup that it did not need soy sauce and the black chicken skin tasted sticky and elastic which was not at all fat.
The chicken joints were deliciously soft like collagen jelly because the soup had been boiled for so long that they became so soft.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Shunde fish rolls:
Nothing exciting about the fish, it was just fish rolled up with mushrooms in the middle.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Stir fried vegetables:
Nothing exciting, it was just stir fried vegetables with mushrooms.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Stir fried milk:
I was expecting a sweet taste but it was NORMAL for once and delicious.
The appearance was like stir fried egg white and it tasted like savoury smooth milk curds.
The stir fried milk was surrounded by these crispy looking rolls called "chicken rolls", after I took a bite, I imediately spat it out because it was fried fat and lard with oil oozing out.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Fried chicken:
This was a chicken fried with its skin attached.
The chicken was coming off with hot smoke, yet the chicken was tender with a nice smoky salt taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Fung Shing fried rice:
The fried rice which I never eat was delicious, each grain of rice was distinct and it did not have that nasty wok taste, it also had diced tomatoes in it as well.
I also tried their plain boiled rice and that was good too.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Fried flour dumplings:
In chinese it was Jah fun gwoh.
I was expecting it to be those weird sticky chiuchow style ones filled with peanuts and celery but it was crunchy and soft filled with prawns.
It came with soup to dip but I did not bother with the soup.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Baked sago with lotus paste:
I was glad it was a dessert that I could eat because the usual ones such as sweet soups and puddings are two sweet and I hate sweet soups.
The sago was a lovely custard egg yolk colour that was piping hot and not too sweet.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Fresh fruits:
These were sliced oranges.
It was good that they made an effort to slice them unlike some other places where they give you a plate of WHOLE ORANGES!!
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

To summarize, the banquet set was FUSS FREE, drinks were included and there is no extra 10% on top because the price already includes all that.

Take A Break with a waffle

Take A Break Cafe (Prince Edward)

Came here because it looked striking in the kowloon area.

You normally see these type of buildings in urban areas like Yuen Long and Sai Kung.
Anyway they basically serve waffles like the ones at Coffee Alley.

Thanks to Connie and Dull for arranging this trip or I would have been to lazy to go because it is located in the middle of no where.

Inside the cafe, it was actually quite small and cramped, the decor was interesting with huge chandeliers and paintings.

There is only one staff at this place so all the taking orders, cooking and drinks are done by him so you have to wait quite a bit.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Coffee:

I do not drink coffee but this was someone else's coffee.
The drink selection was a bit disappointing because the choice was limited and did not have fruit juice tea like Coffee Alley.
It was a choice of coffee, tea, milkshakes or lemon tea.
On leaving I discovered there was apple soda on the board outside which was too late.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
All day breakfast:

The breakfast was ok but a bit overpriced for $98 and the sausage was basically one whole sausage sliced in half.
Interestingly the bacon which I do not normally like was good because it was lean.
The breakfast costs $98 and includes a coffee, so if your coming for the pretty latte art then it pays off.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Waffles with strawberries:

The waffle was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
For the icecream I would prefer vanilla instead of strawberry because it tasted a bit artificial.

Dessert with TVB's Neighborhood Gourmet

Lan Yuen Chee Koon (Prince Edward)

I really liked the pistachio dessert on my visit I decided to go back for it.
I also had the pineapple pudding as well.

There is a jar that they proudly show people the pistachio nuts that they use.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Pistachio dessert:
While I was there, the TV was broadcasting TVB"s Neighborhood Gourmet which also happened to feature their pistachio dessert.

The dessert was slightly disappointing this time because it was lumpy and quite sweet.
I hope on my next visit it will taste as good as my first visit.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Pineapple pudding:

The pineapple pudding was quite nice with pieces of pineapple in the dessert.
However it was slightly too sweet.

Cheesy toast and Cheesy options!

Shop: Bake&Bite

I rarely go to the North end of Prince Edwards, so this time I gathered 3-4 places I wanted to try around that area:
Lan Yuen Chee Koon, Roadside, Bake & Bite and Ueno Bakery & Enzyme.

I planned this eating spree because of this place and Roadside for Western food.
There are not many choices for good Western food in the Mong Kok area.

I was attracted to this place because of the cheesy toast and pies.

This joint is located on the busy main road with lots of air pollution and smokers and the bad thing about this joint is that there is seating so you need to find a place in MK to eat it!
There is a sitting area round the corner but it is also a pissing corner for people to piss.

Interesting sandwich (NOT)
It has Cheese, JAM and ham! (sounds American)

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Toastie with swiss cheese and liver sausage:

Basically you choose a bread, choose a cheese and choose a filling.
You can add extra cheese for $3 I think.
I was quite annoyed because I tried to add extra cheese but they only let you add the same cheese you chose which is not flexible.
For the choice of cheese there was cheddar, Swiss and Monterrey jack.
The liver sausage was interesting which was why I tried it but ideally ham would be a better match with cheese.

The toastie was actually quite delicious and the liver sausage had herbs in it.
I just wish for improvements they could let you choose a different cheese when you order the double cheese because all they do is put the cheese slices in the sandwich and toast it.
So what difference does it make having two different slices of cheese or two slices of the same cheese because all they do is toast it.
Its not going to mess up their toaster!!!!!!!!!!!Time for me make my own with a Breville toaster!!!!!!
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Lemon Tea:
Too sweet and syrupy!

Hope they keep their standards @ 京川滬風味小食坊

Came here again because the food was good the first time, however the food was slightly bland this time and the hygiene needs to be improved because you can see things crawling.
There was also a dead bottle fly on the table.

Anyway, the chili sauce was really nice and it had large beans in it.
The chicken was slightly fatty and the sauce was not strong enough.

Deliciously confusing @ 八方雲集鍋貼水餃專門店

Discovered this restaurant while passing by, reminded me of Dumpling house in Sai Kung as they have many flavours, including fried dumplings and boiled dumplings.
Anyway I ordered a set which consisted of 10 dumplings of one flavour and a soup.
The soup is nothing special, just a filler to make it a set, just like Australia Dairy Company where the scrambled egg is the best, and the macaroni is there to fill you up.

I chose the fried curry dumplings with sweet corn soup, the soup arrived first and tasted OK, with bits of ham and egg, sweetcorn etc in it.
Then came the dumplings, I took a bite and realised it was the Korean flavoured one, and realised they had served me the wrong one.
I told the waitress I was given Korean dumplings instead of curry, and she couldn’t find my order, later I found out the previous customer had taken my ticket and paid for it, and the Korean dumplings were meant to be theirs. At the same time, the guy behind me insisted those dumplings were his, as he ordered curry as well, but I told him they were Korean not Curry.
To my surprise, the waitress knowing that I had eaten one dumpling from that plate passed it to the man, even though one dumpling was missing, and the flavour was wrong.

Poor guy, eating the wrong dumplings, and eating after me, and being conned for 9 dumplings when he should have had 10!!

Apart from the blunders, the dumplings tasted quite nice, in my case I got to try two flavours thanks to their mistake. The Curry one is very good, and there is still curry sauce in the dumpling after being fried. The Korean one is also worth trying, spicy, but not very spicy, with a hint of Kimchi in the dumpling.

Passionfruit snow flake ice @ 四哥台式雪花冰專門店

When I hear the name four brother, I immediately associate the chinese actor Tse Yin, anyway it probably has a different meaning to them.

I thought I might as well try this place even though I have tried most the places for snowflake ice.

The décor is quite colourful, colourful take out bags, straws and calpis bottles.

As the place was quite vibrant, I decided to order the passionfruit flavoured snowflake ice, with Aiyu jelly and caramel sauce. The Aiya jelly was much firmer than the ones at Sweet pak fu.
The passionfruit base did not have any artificial taste to it either.

They have also put up pictures of Marsha Yuen at the place too, the last time I saw her, she had dessert at berrygood in central.
