Super mini macarons

Had time before a tasting so decided to eat something.
I was going to visit Waffill again to try the new savoury burger waffle but this new branch of Dolci was closer so came here instead.

On one side, there is a cake counter.

On the other side, there is a gelato counter.

There is a nice sitting area too.

There is a menu so you can order from the table.

Super mini macarons:
At the gelato counter, I discovered so many new toppings that you add for an extra $5!!
There were mini meringues, cake bits, but my favourite had to be the super mini macarons which I have always adored on the nocciola (triple hazelnut crunchy cake).

Each macaron is so cute and uniformly shaped!!!

Pistachio gelato with super mini macarons:
Chose the pistachio gelato because it was my favourite with the mini macarons as extra toppings!!

Just too cute to eat!
Anyway the mini macarons were lovely and crispy because they have sachets of desiccant in the jar to keep them lovely and dry.
As for the gelato, it was smooth and thick with a gorgeous sticky texture to it just like Turkish icecream.
The pistachio taste was natrual and the sweetness was just right.

Hazelnut gelato:

Compared to the pistachio, the taste was slightly sweeter but nutty and natrual.

Summer mango madness

For mango lovers, there is a new mango cake series!!!!!!

I got my hands on the Mango & Pistachio crispy mini cake which was a nice size for sharing.

Top view:
On top of the cake, there was fresh mango, mango sauce and some sweet sauce.

Side view:

On the side of the cake, it was decorated with macaron shells.

Mango & Pistachio crispy cake:
The cake has distinct layers which look really nice.

From top layer to bottom:
mango mousse
egg white cake
mango slices
pistachio mousse
golden cake
chocolate crispies

I loved the pistachio mousse because it gave a nutty flavour to the mango paired with cotton soft layers of cake.
It was refreshing to eat on a summers day with layers of cool mousse and fresh mango slices in the middle.

Look out for the Mango & Pistachio Dessert Cup for $25 with layers of mango pieces, mango jelly, pistachio mousse, sponge cake, mango pudding and mango mousse.

Pistachio world @ Lan Yuen Chee Koon

Shop: Lan Yuen Chee Koon (Prince Edward)

I rarely go to the North end of Prince Edwards, so this time I gathered 3-4 places I wanted to try around that area:
Lan Yuen Chee Koon, Roadside, Bake & Bite and Ueno Bakery & Enzyme.

This was the last on the list to visit because it was for desserts.

The main dessert I came for was the grounded pistachio dessert.

As well as desserts they are famous for noodles and other cooked dishes.

The menu is quite historic with wooden covers!

The puddings and drinks are located in a refridgerated cabinet by the entrance.

Interesting sauce!

Grounded pistachio dessert:
When I ordered the grounded pistachio dessert they said there was only half a portion left but since this was the only item I came for, it was really lucky I could pay half price for half a portion.
Although she said there was only half a bowl, there was more than half in there.

The colour does not look appealing but it was really really delicious.
I was surprised how smooth and runny it was!!!!

The sweetness was just right and you could really taste the pistachios in it which had a slight savoury taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Pistachio pudding:
This was also nice too but in pudding form!
It is also a must eat item as well because not many places offer this.

Grounded pistachio dessert @ Hoi Kee

After eating at the nearby Legend Restaurant, I noticed this shop because of the colourful banners where I spotted this bowl of green dessert that I thought was Green Tea dessert.

However on a closer look it turned out to be Grounded Pistachio dessert which Menty told me about a few days ago, then when I looked at the name of this dessert shop, it was indeed Hoi Kee.
I have walked past the Mong Kok branch numerous times but I never went in because the MK branch was just grey and boring.

The menu at that time only had Chinese desserts then, perhaps it may have changed now but looking at the MK reviews I cant see any of the new desserts.

Anyway went in with the Grounded Pistachio dessert in mind, but when I looked at the menu there were so many other items I wanted to try as well, so there shall be more visits.
The desserts at this place was not just traditional Chinese sweet soups but they had other desserts with colourful product shots which were really tempting to try such as:

Yogurt with aiyu jelly and fruit:
+++++++++++++++++++++
Purple rice and mochi
+++++++++++++++++++++
Peach and tofu pudding
+++++++++++++++++++++
Berry merry
+++++++++++++++++++++

Not only was the menu colourful the decor of this shop was modern.

Grounded Pistachio dessert
I do not usually go for these grounded Chinese desserts but because it was pistachio I tried it.
There was a choice of hot or cold and I really regret not ordering it cold because when it is hot I keep burning my tongue and cannot taste it properly.
When it did finally cool down, I found it delicious because it tasted really nutty and you can taste the savouryness of the pistachio.
The pistachio had been grounded really fine and it was not lumpy.
The pistachio pieces on top gave it some depth.
After stirring it vigorously to cool the consistency did not change, it still remained thick hence its high heat capacity.
Although it was delicious I would have preferred it in pudding form because I am still not quite used to Chinese desserts which are in liquid/paste form which involves "drinking" it.
For the take away version the pistachio is in a separate bag for you to add separately.

Grounded Chestnut dessert
Again I do not usually try these desserts but tried it as it was Chestnut, I did not expect it to taste nice because chestnuts are starchy and it did not taste as good as the chestnut paste in the Chestnut croissant at Le Salon.
I still feel that chestnut tastes better with roast dinners or French style.
