2018 McDonald's D24 Durian McFlurry in Hong Kong
Hong Kong McDonald's launched the durian McFlurry on July 5th which is available in Hong Kong and Macao.
It will only be available for two weeks but surprisingly it was sold out within two days of launch!
You either hate or love Durian like Marmite!
The D24 Durian McFlurry was launched in Malaysia last year so it is not new but new to Hong Kong and Singapore.
I tried it on the first day.
On the menu, there are two options, the standard one for HKD25 and the Deluxe one with extra durian for HKD40.
I ordered the HKD40 where I was given a separate tub of Durian.
To be honest, the durian was not fresh durian but durian puree with tiny shreds of durian in it.
Sadly, the durian puree was sweetened so the extra dose of durian puree didn't give me pleasure but extra goddamn sweetness!
If I knew the durian was sweetened, the standard Durian McFlurry would have been good enough and it is really weird why they had to sweeten it as Durian is naturally sweet anyway.

Mutant blueberries at Pausa
PAUSA means Pause in Italian so that was exactly what I did. I paused here for dessert!!!!!
Previously, this used to be Beautifood but sadly it packed up.
Anyway, it is now an Italian joint selling pizzas, foccacias and pastas as well Italian gelato.
Tried the gelato cup and the blueberries stole the show because they were huge!
I wonder if there were bigger ones in the kitchen!!
The dessert cup was really good, I got a mix of strawberry gelato and vanilla.
I liked the vanilla the most because it was smooth and creamy.
They change the flavours now and then so I look forward to trying other flavours.

Hong Kong's smallest Pineapple bun 菠蘿油
Obviously I was here for the mini pineapple bun gimmick because the new Shades flavour is a really local flavour that locals will love since it has Italian low fat soft gelato, caramelized croutons, homemade milk tea gelato, meringue rocks, peanut butter sauce, candied peanuts topped with a cute pineapple bun 菠蘿油.
Anyway, I liked the cute pineapple bun which is a mini choux puff dusted with crumbs with a slice of cake in the middle but other than that, the rest is not my cup of tea because I don’t like local flavours such as HK style milk tea and peanut butter sauce.
Can’t wait to try other creations soon.

Honey coffee @ Honey Granny
Previously Honey Granny only served softserve but now they have drinks and icedogs as well.
For drinks there were quite a lot of options such as chocolate honey.
Had the honey coffee.
Basically it tasted like canned grass jelly water mixed with honey infused into it.

purple dream at Small Potato Ice Creamery
Went here because of the purple potato softserve.
Attempted to go before but there was a big crowd so I didn't bother wasting my time so went another day when there was less people.
As I was greedy I went for the mix which was salted caramel and sweet potato but unfortunately there was more salted caramel icecream than sweet potato which can only be seen on top so I couldn't really taste the sweet potato.
The doriyaki filled with sweet potato was nice though and not too sweet.
I will definitely come back again for the sweet potato icecream on its own

Truly natural purple sweet potato at Small Potato Ice Creamery
On the first visit, I made the mistake of ordering the mixed softserve because you can't really taste the sweet potato softserve properly.

Purple sweet potato with purple potato paste:
This time I just got sweet potato softserve with some extra sweet potato mash.
It was much nicer and the whole thing was not sweet which was great, the mash made it even more delicious because it was like having real sweet potatoes with icecream.

Iron buddha tea softserve at 天仁喫茶趣
Saw photos of the iron buddha softserve which is only available at the MaOnShan branch.
The English and Chinese seem to contradict because in Chinese it says Iron buddha but in English it says Iron Buddha oolong.
I would have tried The chocolate room too which was nearby but they didn't have the sweet purple potato softserve that day.

Iron buddha tea softserve:
The softserve cost $20 and it was huge but unfortunately the taste was not that good.
It was powdery and bitter lacking fragrant aroma that iron buddha should have.
The softserve was too icy for my liking but if they made iron buddha ice lollies or sorbets without the milk, I think it would taste great because who puts milk with Chinese tea!

The vanishing Christmas Tree from Honey Creme
Walked past and saw the new softserve so decided to get it because it was colourful.
First they brush the edges of the cup with green syrup which is probably mint.
Then they pour chocolate and cocoa on the softserve.
After that they put candyfloss on top.
More syrup on top followed by crushed candy canes.
This was my favourite out of all the ones I have tried because the chocolate sauce and the softserve go really well together and the overall taste is not too sweet.
The candyfloss got in the way at the beginning so I only had a bit and disposed of it.
