I am quite particular about my ramen because I prefer the thin white noodles, then if the broth is good then perfect.
If the pork is good as well then it is a mega bonus.
My definition of good pork is being fresh, lean, soft and not smelly!
At Shiawase, they have three different broths: tonkatsu, garlic and spicy tomato.
All three were good in different ways but the pork was the star of everything which makes a change.
The reason I loved it was because it was fresh, soft and tasty.
They were thinly sliced just like the meat we had for roast dinners at school so I was really happy to taste something similar!!
Since all three broths are different, the tonkotsu is one that you can have anytime as the broth is strong but not overly salty or oily.
The black garlic is more flavourful and complicated as you can taste the garlic prominently as well as the pork broth.
Personally, my favourite was the spicy tonkotsu tomato ramen which works for me on a cooler day because it is spicy.
The flavours in this bowl are even more complex as there are lots of tomatoes in the broth which have been boiled for a few hours and all the tomatoes are have been peeled.
The noodles are topped with minced pork which is spicy mixed with herbs, again the pork was fresh hence it was delicious.
The meat sauce tasted a bit like Arrabiata so when you add some cheese powder which can be found on the table, the two go quite well together.
As well as the minced pork, there are also two slices of delicious pork as well. I definitely like this new joint hidden behind the AIA Tower however the lighting can be a bit brighter, other than that I friggin love their PORK!!!

Christmas burger at Texas Burger
Went here during the Xmas period.

Tried the new lamb burger and the PP burger.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Chocolate trilogy:

Started off with the chocolate trilogy milkshake which had a rich chocolate taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Pulled lamb burger:

The lamb burger was really good because it was pulled pieces of lamb with melted cheese on top, a great alternative to pulled pork but I have liked more cheese on top.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
PP burger:

This was my favourite because PP stands for Portobello mushroom and Prosciutto.
The prosciutto was a nice surprise because it was crispy and delicious and the portobello mushroom was juicy and earthy.

A lovely light burger that is not totally vegetarian but people who are not fond of meat will probably fall for this.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Camembert wedges with strawberry sauce:

The camembert wedges were gooey and stringy inside like mozzarella cheese with a light camembert taste.

Bingo it's Bingco from the Food Expo 2014!
Bingco got the most attention at the recent food expo because of the huge long extruded icecream cones that could be made in any shape.
[Photos from Food and Expo 2014]

Now you can get them at Tin Hau, just left of the MTR exit.

The display J cones look like deep fried fish gas bladders (炸鱼鳔)!

When I went, the cones were not ready and the media were there doing a shoot so I left and visited another day.

They didn't have any cones that day so I got the softserve.
There were two flavours: banana and milk or vitasoy which happen to be both that I don't like.
Out of the two I chose vitasoy because banana usually has an artificial taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Vitasoy softserve:

The vitasoy softserve was actually quite nice because it tasted like a creamy version of vitasoy and it was not too sweet.
I would have preferred plain vitasoy softserve because I found the cereal and ovaltine powder too distracting.

Texas at Tin Hau
I was really excited with this new burger joint in Tin Hau because there are hardly any proper Western restaurants in that area.

It is now a popular place for expats and XBCs.
The menu is quite good and there are some interesting milkshakes and burgers.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Mexican Prawn burger:

The prawn burger and the vegetarian burger are the only two on the menu which are served in a poppy bun.
Unfortunately the bun was hard and stale, but I believe it may have been there for a while due to the lack of people ordering prawn burgers (the most expensive item) and not many people will go for the vegetarian burgers.

The prawn patty could have had more prawns because the patty texture was a bit rubbery compared to other prawn burgers.
Other than that, I loved the guacamole salsa and horseradish mayonnaise which gave it a nice medley of flavours.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
I believe the food will improve because they are constantly listening to peoples suggestions.
But I will return for the vegetarian burger and the curry.

Auntie Sweet was too sweet this time
Came back for the tofu with blended strawberry slush, however the strawberry slush was too sweet this time.
The tofu beneath it was quite nice but it lacked soy bean taste.

Expensive and boring noodles at Tai Lee
Tai Lee (Tin Hau)
I came here randomly because I didn't realise it was the same branch as Wan Chai.
There was nothing spectacular about the noodles or the curry.
The noodles were weird because some of the noodles were red and I did not put vinegar in it, perhaps someones unfinished noodles?

The curry was not spicy nor was it salty, it tasted very bland.

Queen of canned herbal jelly
There are so many dessert places in tin hau, but only came here because the traffic lights turn green so I could cross the road.
It was also empty which was another factor I tried it.

Basically, there was a menu with pictures and another black and white one which has the prices.

I picked the tofu princess which had tofu and banana according to the picture.
Ordered the dessert and the cocky snappy waitress asked for the money right away.
I wonder if this attitude is related to some robbery case last year which involved one of their staff taking the cash and doing a runner!
So they ensure their revenue by taking payment asap and locking it up tightly.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Tofu princess $40:

Evidently canned grass jelly because they were unevenly cut and the coconut milk was too sweet.
The only fresh ingredient were the banana slices.
Definitely not worth $40, at other desserteries you can get much better desserts for $40.
The tofu was disappointing, it was just sweet tofu pudding!
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
While I was there, one of the customers were choking and asked for tissue and the staff pretended not to hear the pleas, so the customers left angrily after eating.

The spiciest Thai style minced pork
Koon Thai Hai Nam Chicken (Tin Hau)

There are about three branches of Koon Thai Hai Nam Chicken in Hong Kong but the menu differs at different branches.
The menu below is not served at the Wan Chai branch which is why I dined here.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Minced pork with spicy and sour sauce:

When I saw this, I knew I was in trouble because the minced pork was orange so I knew it was going to be hot and you could also see finely grounded chili powder on the minced pork.
After trying a little morsel of minced pork, I knew I had to leave it because it was way too spicy!!!!!!!
I have tried this dish at other restaurants but not as spicy as this.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Shredded chicken with spinach noodles:

I had better luck with the shredded chicken.
There was so much shredded chicken on this plate.

The green noodles did not have any outstanding taste and the texture was just like chewy ultra al dente instant noodles.
