Grilled squid and batter grilled shrimp@ Saizeriya

Felt like going to Saizeriya and was glad I went because there was new items on the menu.

Tried the grilled squid and batter grilled shrimps which was not previously on the menu.
Also ordered the black pepper sauce and chicken combo.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Grilled squid
It looked nearly the same as the product shot, however I was worried it might not have been cooked thoroughly as the squid was huge and thick,
Anyway, the middle was not cooked long enough but edible.
The sauce for the squid was really nice, it was similar to satay sauce but with more savory tones in it.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Batter grilled shrimps
The shrimps were huge, they were the same length as the table spoon.
The coating for the shrimp was quite thick too, the sauce that came with it was the prawn cocktail sauce that is served with the prawn cocktail and fried chicken pieces.
The coating was sligthly burnt and dark if you compare it to the product shot.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Black pepper sauce and chicken combo
This was a platter of fried chicken pieces, chicken wings and grilled chicken thigh with black pepper sauce which is quite good because you can sample all those items.

Grilled squids @ Camden Town

After having fish and chips on an earlier visit, decided to get the squids this time and have it as a snack.
Took some pictures of the kitchen side which resembles a British fish and chip shop.

The squids were served in a cup for takeaway which was quite cute.
The taste of the squids were really nice and they were not too chewy or dry.
There was some sweetness from the sauce and their griller was clean so there was no foul rancid oil fumes.

Lunch buffet @ Blue Smoke Bar-B-Que

As always the food is good but it depends what they have that day.

Seafood soup
The seafood soup was the best because the squid tasted really strong, and there were lots of baby squids in it.

Hot dog:
The hot dog had chili con carne topped on it and there was melted cheese.
The spicyness of the chili con carne was just right.

Macaroni:
The macaroni was served cold and there was finely chopped carrots in it.

Water with orange slices:
This was the first time I have seen orange slices in water, usually it is lemon or other fruits.
The water tasted quite nice with a twinge of orange.

Not King of Laksa but King of Satays @ 喇沙王 King Laksa

Of all laksas i have had i am still a loyal fan of Katong, I have yet to try Malaymama.

The only thing unique with the laksa here, is that you can choose silver pin noodles.
The Laksa was not spicy at all, and the soup was thin, the oysters were added when served.

The other dish that was excellent was the satays with yellow ginger rice, it turned out to be the star of lunch. Althought slightly overly on the sweet side, but very delicious.
The rice, known as ginger rice, was a bit bland.

The satays were ok, only the beef and chicken was good, the pork had bits of fat on it.
The octopus was chewy and tasteless, but tasted good together with the beef satay.

I also thought it was quite cool, all their chopsticks were black, however there was a pair of light blue chopsticks on our table, and very rare to find blue chopsticks.

As for the environment, it was so hot and unairconditioned, a total glutton for punishment eating there on a hot day, I was wearing hot pants and vest top and I was fuming from inside out.

Set Tapas @ UNOMAS

Finally came here for lunch, this is probably my first time having real Spanish food, the ones I have had before are the fake ones.
I liked the lunch style, you can choose a 3 set Tapa from the Tapa list of 15, 14 for food and one for dessert. For two people, we chose 6 Tapa’s.

The restaurant was spacious yet cramped, there were tables spread across the room, however the table for two we had was quite small, not designed for Spanish Tapa’s, you could have at most 3 Tapa’s on the table. I had trouble getting to my cramped my seat, and I am a thin!

The service was a bit cold, could have been better. Not sure if tap water was free, but other tables were given it. Also coffee/tea was included in the set, but they didn’t remind us, and we felt they had different attitudes to causcasians and asians.

Food:

Ensalada de lentejas con jamon:
Brown lental salad with ham, red onion, tomato, olive oil and vinegar, a nice tangy starter.

Chipirones al ajillo: baby squids with garlic and parsley:
this was the best, the squids were fat and soft with generous sauce.
Croquetas de Jamon:
almond crusted chicken and ham croquettes, could see or taste the almond crust, infact it was just plain crumbs with smooth sily potato inside.
Croqutas de Arroz:
Saffron rice and manchego fritters, This one I could taste and see the almond pieces as the coating, inside was rice, and moist too, the sauce tasted like pumpkin sauce.
Tortilla con chorizo Potato tortilla with spicy chorizo and paprika:
this was just like an omelette, very buttery.
Cordero al vinto tinto: lamb in chorizo in red wine sauce: it tasted more like beef.

Dessert: Orange and almond cake with syrup.

Overall the food was ok, the service and attitude was not!
