Brown sugar Sachima by Taipan

Taipan Bread & Cakes (North Point)

Sachimas are popular treats for kids.

To me, they are similar to sticky rice crispy/cornflake bars made in cookery lessons at school.

I was attracted to the ones at Taipan because they had so many flavours for the sachima!!

-Brown sugar and cashew nut
-peanut and raisin
-orange and honey
-ginger
-meat floss

The flavours were rather funky and modern!!

Anyway I bought the Brown sugar and cashew nut flavour.

Brown sugar and cashew nut sachima:

The good thing about these modern sachimas is that they do not have that weird smell.

The sachimas were light and delicious, the sweetness was just right, but the brown sugar taste was not strong enough.
The main problem was that it fell apart when you ate them.

A lovely jar of almond and wheat cookies

Taipan Bread & Cakes (Central)

Thank you Mjqueen7e for getting me these cookies.

The packaging is really nice and the plastic jar can be reused.

It reminded me of countryside honey/jam jars with a chequered cloth on top with an elastic band holding it in place.
After you remove that, there is a resealable lid and beneath that, there is a ring pull lid.

:
The coconut taste was quite strong and there were lots of crushed almonds in it giving it crunch.
They tasted like HOBNOBs a brand of biscuits I had in the UK but the texture was crumblier and had a nice buttery taste.

Danish puff pastries at Taipan

I was really surprised to see danish puff pastries at Taipan because they rarely do Western bakery products, and even if they do, those pastries are guaranteed to taste Chinese style.

When I saw these, I decided to get them because they looked quite good for a Taipan attempt!

They were really cheap too at $10 for 3.

Strawberry danish puff:
The sweetness was just right with lovely sticky strawberry jam in the middle and there was custard as well.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Blueberry danish puff:
Out of the three, the blueberry tasted the best because the blueberry jam was nice and fragrant.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Peach danish puff:
The pastry was slightly thick for this one and the peach was slightly sour.

Ginger bread man biscuit

Anyway, had a gathering and Ivy brought out this huge gingerbread man for us to share!

As it was really big, we had to break it up.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
gingerbread man: The gingerbread man was quite hard and needed immense force to break it and eat it!
The sweetness was just right with a strong ginger taste!

Layered cake @ Taipan Bread & Cakes

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Assorted cakes:
I was attracted to this cake because of the layers, it reminded me of the baumkuchen cakes.
I did not know the name of this cake because it was in the assorted cake section.
The taste was quite nice, there was buttery salted creamy in the middle unfortunately.
The top of the cake was pretty and tasted like iced sugary butter.
On top there was a marshmallow.
