Quality beef time @ Maruju Aburi Farm

Recently I got addicted to the Wagyu sando so I decided to go and try everywhere that has it.

Maruju Aburi Farm has it so decided to go there one evening.

This branch specializes in Wagyu beef and they have two other branches in Kwaihing and Mongkok which serves a slightly similar menu.

On every table, there is a classy little glass bottle of lemon juice which you can add to your food.
I had in mind what to eat but the pandan coconut frappe came as a surprise, firstly I didn't expect to see this on a Japanese menu and secondly it was so good.
There were so many items to choose from so ordered beef sausages, wagyu beef sando and eel Tamagoyaki egg rolls.
+++++++++++
Tamagoyaki egg rolls:
These egg rolls were soft and delicate with sweet eel in the middle.

+++++++++++
Maruju Farm Beef Sausage:
These beef sausages certainly gave me a surprise in the sense that they were softer than you would expect and they contains herbs in them which make them taste like English pork sausages.
Definitely the best beef sausages and they didn't contain any of gristle.
+++++++++++
As well as beef, I love chicken so we had the Chicken Feast where they use chickens from the South Iwate Prefecture.
On there platter, there was chicken wings, thigh, breast, breast cartilage and skin.
Four chickens are needed for the breast cartilage skewer as you only get one piece of breast cartilage per chicken.
My favourites were the thigh and wings.
Adding the fresh lemon and the lemon from the glass bottle made it more appetizing.

+++++++++++
Premium Whole Wagyu Beef Platter 2 Pcs ($580)
This was a really good way of sampling the Australian Wagyu Beef which is clearly labelled and for each different cut, you get 2 slices.
On the platter, there was Tri-tip, Sirloin, Oyster Blade, Tongue, Brisket, Shank, Rump, Top-round and Outside Skirt.
Evidently I liked the Top-Round and Outside Skirt which is meatier and tasty.

++++++
Now to the Wagyu toast:
The toast was extremely thin and crispy so when you eat it the beef is more prominent but saying that the sauce they used was sweet and spicy and tasted like concoction of spicy siracha + burger sauce.
The Wagyu in the middle was meaty and tender.

++++++
Overall, I was really impressed with everything especially the sausages.

Marks and Spencers cocktail sasuages

Had a craving for pork sausages so got these cocktail pork sausages from MS.
After reheating them, they were tasty with a hint of herbs.
However they were too salty.

Exotic sausages - Beware or do you dare?

Craft and Brew is on the corner of Old Bailey Street with simple rustic decor and lots of beer taps.

I was really excited about Craft and Brew because they serve some really DIFFERENT sausages!!!!
It gave me the same excitement as BRAT did because they don't just serve ordinary meat sausages.
The selection is more exhilarating than BRAT with their EXOTICS range featuring:
Snake, rabbit and Jalapeno
Crocodile, wild boar and chili
Mexican buffalo nachos
roast duck and plum
Beef, chili and chocolate
Chicken, honey and macadamia
Roast duck and plum was obviously going to be delicious but as a daring foodie I had to try the Snake and rabbit.
I wanted to try the crocodile too but it has Wild boar which is basically pork.
As there were so many sausages, I came here a few times.

Snake and rabbit sausage:

To be honest if I did not know it was rabbit and snake meat I would have assumed it was a chicken sausage because the texture was like chicken and the colour was pale.
The snake and rabbit sausage was interesting because it was velvety and the Jalapenos gave it a lovely kick of spiciness.
For the sides, the beetroot relish was nice and sweet which was great with the spicy sausage and saukeraut is always good with sausage.
The potato salad was lovely and creamy.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Mexican lamb merguez:

The lamb was slightly gamey and chewy because they use fresh natrual casings.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Chicken, honey and macadamia:

I knew this going to be delicious but it was amazing because it was sweet and juicy and it had WHOLE macadamia nuts in the sausage.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Roast duck and plum:

The duck sausage was fun because it was like the East meets the West tasting like Peking duck.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Although I do not drink but they have almost every beer you would want.
There were two which I found interesting because of the names:
Dead pony and Dead frog!

For improvements, it would be great if they did not put the paper sheet beneath the sausages because when you cut the sausages you end up ripping the paper as well.

The missing banger from Queen Victoria

This used to be my favourite place for English grub, but the quality has deteriorated.

I really don't want to give this place a negative review, but the food has really gone down.

Since it opened, the prices have not gone up much but for the bangers and mash, the number of sausages have been reduced from 3 to 2.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Grilled fish with rice:

The fish was really salty and burnt that it tasted bitter.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Bangers and mash in 2014:

There used to be three sausages and now there was only two.
(see picture below which was taken last year!!)
The sausages tasted different too and had an awful pork smell.
I wonder if they have changed to a different brand of sausages.

Bangers and mash in 2013:

Coke:
The coke tasted flat

Extra large breakfast at The Queen Victoria

The Queen Victoria (Wan Chai)

Had a craving for Black pudding so came here for the extra large breakfast!

It is quite interesting that no one dares to try this place because most of the reviews are written by me.

Their menu has been redesigned with some new items on the menu including roast beef.

The waitress on this visit was a bit impatient and the air conditioning was too cold to the extent that a person from the UK complained.

You can imagine how cold the air con would be if someone from the cold part of the world complains.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Extra large breakfast:

On the plate, there were 3 eggs, 3 rashers, 3 sausages, button mushrooms, half a tomato, chips, and baked beans.
It used to come with a drink but now it does not.

The eggs were a little bit over done because some of the egg white was crispy, but as usual the sausage and black pudding were great.
The chips looked better this time but I did not like them because they were too crispy and hollow inside.
The bacon was a bit soft but the sausages was meaty with lots of herbs.

Fish and chips under the lovely brit weather

Finally there is a cheap chippie in Hong Kong!

When I got there it just looked like a chippie in the UK, the typical blue and white decoration and even their logo was so chippie style!
It is the same as those Chinese owned chippies in the UK.
They even had pictures of my favourite marmite spread!
If this chip shop was located in one of those shops facing the sea at Kennedy town then it would be even more perfect!
Anyway the location is good enough in Sai Kung and close to the mini bus station.
Camden Town has some serious competition, I am sure expats will know which one to pick.
The best thing was, they had the short chippie forks!
On miserable rainy days just like UK, you get a $2 discount!
Just like the chippies do in UK, the chips are served on paper, but the paper here is folded into a boat and placed on their red post box shaped bowls if you dine in, however there are only two seats.
I practically wanted every item on the menu, but I wished they had deep fried apple, saveloy, black pudding and more.
They have butty on the menu which is comforting to see!

Anyway they also had curry sauce which was great, a standard item in a chippie!
Now that I have found my chippie I am still looking for a real kebab shop!

I ordered a small portion of chips, curry sauce and sausage sandwich to take away.
The curry sauce was in a separate cup and the chips were separate which was good.

When I was carrying the bag, I could already smell the vinegar and the chips.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
chips:
The lovely chips had salt and vinegar spinkled on and were wrapped up in paper.
I loved the way the chips had absorbed the vinegar and salt during the journey.
The chips were really good, they were soft with the greased smooth texture.
Don't bother coming if you are expecting crispy chips because English chips are not meant to be that crunchy, go to Camden Town.
So hopefully the chips remain like this and don't become Hongkonised!
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
curry sauce and chips:
On my first taste of the curry taste it was really bland, but dipping the chips in the curry sauce, the curry flavour seemed to come out.
The chips were lovely and wholesome and were very potatoey because they were lovely and soft!
The chips with or without curry sauce was really delicious and I was so carried away eating them I forgot to take a picture of the cross section of the chips!
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
sausage sandwich:
The sausage sandwich was delicious, although it was not the typical pub sausage it still tasted nice, and the cheese was nice.
I was glad it was not a frankfurter pretending to be a sausage!
I even had some curry sauce left and had it with the sandwich.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
After having all that I was satisfied but still hungry!!!
If I had dined in I would have ordered a cup of tea as well!
Anyway I will be back for more!
I can foresee their opening hours extending to 8.30pm.
