[Review] Coughlans new Curry Chicken bake and Vegan series

A while ago I tried the Vegan Steak Bake at Coughlans in December.

Now they have just launched the new VEGAN CURRY CHICKEN BAKE before anyone else has!
Mark my words!!
To be honest, the vegan range has something for everyone like cheese and onion, sausage rolls, steak bakes and now the chicken bake!

Each bake at Coughlans is slightly different in appearance so you can visually tell them apart.

Vegan Chicken Curry Bake:

Taking a bite, the pastry is light and flaky just like any other normal pastry.
It was piping hot flowing out with a fragrant curry aroma.
As for the filling, it was quite spicy with a comforting curry taste so I would say the curry bake is a success and definitely recommended.

Here is the rest of the vegan range that I tried.

Vegan Cheese and onion:
This was filled with tasty gooey cheese complimented by the delicious onions.
Basically it tastes just as good as your usual cheese and onion pastry so it is very comforting and unsuspectingly vegan!!!

Sausage rolls:
If you are a sausage fan, you are spoilt for choice, not one but three choices: vegan sausage, vegan sausage and wild mushrooms and the vegan sausage and leek.
It is difficult to say which one is better but probably the mushroom as it has a stronger taste whereas the leek is like your usual sausage roll with leek which is a bit like spring onions but slightly different.

Mushroom Sausage roll:

Sausage and leek roll:

Last but not least is the vegan steak bake which I tried a while ago.

The price of this vegan steak bake is £2.95 which is slightly more than Greggs at £1.55 according to online media photos.

Anyway, when you bite into the vegan steak bake, the pastry is just as good as any pastry in the sense that it is crisp and flaky.
It took me a while to get to the centre of the bake but I was greeted with a lovely gravy loaded with mushrooms and vegan steak.
The vegan steak pieces was tasty and the texture was like firm bouncy tofu that is just the right bite without being too rubbery so overall I really enjoyed this vegan steak bake.

They also have other captivating treats like Butterscotch yum yum and the iced apple lattice.

As well as sweet treats, they have vegan cakes shown on the leaflet!

[Review] Turkey Curry at Leon Restaurant

Originally I was planning to eat at Padella next door but it turned out to be an hours wait so had Leon instead as they were doing a Turkey Curry over the boxing day period.

According to the ad, it was British turkey, carrots and parsnips in a creamy curry sauce, topped with a sprinkling of crispy onions.

The food was served in a flash but then Leon is classified as a fast food chain with healthy food in mind.
The curry sauce looked a bit dry and dehydrated and to my disappointment I was given the cold turkey but they were happy to change it for a hot one without quibble.

The piping hot Turkey curry was absolutely delicious with a taste similar to Coronation chicken but much better as it had starchy parsnips and soft carrot chunks.

Overall, I was so glad I tried the Turkey Curry because the creamy curry paired with Italian brown rice which has a lovely al dente texture.

The best chips with Curry sauce in STRATFORD, inshops [Rainbow English And Chinese Fast Food]

Rainbow English And Chinese Fast Food has been here for at least 20 years or longer.

Although it is a Chinese Fast Food, I go there for chips in curry sauce.
It is really impressive how they have been consistently delicious in terms of the chips and curry sauce.
The last time I visited was in 2016.

Every time I go there, the chips are slightly crispy on the outside drenched in delicious sweet curry sauce that is not cloyingly sweet.
Yet every chips is fluffy in the middle.

The most amazing thing is that you every chip is covered in a glaze of curry sauce, even the last chip and the chips at the bottom of the dish!!
There is something magic about the curry sauce in that you wouldn't call it a sauce as it does not really drip apart from at the beginning.
Anyway, you can think of it like Poutine with curry sauce.

Finished with a Chinese Tea which was quite nice.

A customer who drove an hours drive for their food!

Veg Indian paradise at [Sangeetha - 新意達]

I eat quite a lot of Indian food because it is one of my favourite Cuisines.
Recently I have started exploring Vegetarian Indian food when I realized there are quite a few in TST.
When I walked into Sangeetha, I was impressed to see that they make their own snacks because I normally buy these at Indian shops.

The menu was impressive and there was so much to choose from.

For Vadas, there was a good variety like Onion, pepper etc and the milkshake range too.
Started with the hazelnut milkshake which was very sweet.

It was really difficult making my mind up because every item was different and something I wanted to try.
Started with the onion vada which was crispy with lots of onions in it.
I was so glad I had this because most restaurants serve plain vada.

Next was the Idiyappam which is similar to rice vermicelli with coconut chutney and curry. The pairing of these were great as it balanced the fieriness of the spices.

Next was the Uttapam whichi is like a thick pancake with lots of peas in it. It was crisp on the surface with juicy sweet peas popping in your mouth.

For carbs, I had the fried mushroom rice and Sichuan fried noodles.

In my opinion, Indian fried rices and noodles are far less oily but then I am biased because I love long grain Indian rice which is fluffy and soft!
I really liked the fried rice because there was crisp lettuce in it which gave it a refreshing mouthfeel. The Palak Mutter was spicy but great with the rice.

Overall, this was the best experience because the staff were very patient and expat friendly so I will be coming back again.
