華御結 Hana-Musubi new product launch event

華御結 hana-musubi has been around for quite a while, they started off with a few shops and now they have more than 20 branches with shops conveniently located at various MTR stations.

As a fan of HM, I was really lucky to get to visit their factory and see how the musubis are made.

Everything is taken seriously so quality is ensured with high hygiene standards.
Before you enter the factory, you have to get vacuumed for any dust or stray hair, scrubbed 2 times, enter a drying room and then wear protective gear from head to toe.

At the product launch event, we got a preview of the Jumbo omusubis and the healthy mixed rice series that will be launched on 8th July 2019.

Jumbo Omusubi series:

Okinawa style ham and egg Jumbo Omusubi

Black pepper and chicken and burdock roots jumbo Omusubi
Grilled salmon with cod roe mayonnaise Jumbo Omusubi

Healthy mixed grain series:

Pork and vegetables in Okinawa style:
Konbu and Dadachamame:
Soy sauce and Sakura shrimp

We even tried our hand at making some omusubis.

When we left, we were given this lovely box which lights up when opened.

Inside was the new musubis we tried, Koshihikari rice and Amazake drink.

My picks at Wine and Dine 2018

Wine and Dine is bigger and better this year that it now has different sections.
Hotel Delicious, Feedme Lane, Coffee Fiesta etc.

I was impressed with the creativity and variety this year.

First stop was salted egg chicken drumsticks with a Singaporean twist coated with oats from City Garden Hotel Hong Kong 城市花園酒店.

Second stop Appendix Coffee & Bar, the N2 Earl Grey really hit the spot as I was hot and bothered.
Lightly sweetened Earl Grey with a silky foam cap and last but not least was the Taiwanese messy bun inspired coffee.

In the bakery section, my fave bakery Say Hey Bakery 四喜麵包西餅was there with a unique beetroot quiche, La Mer Restaurant & Loungehad this interesting salted egg duck tart and Fast Gourmet had exclusive alcoholic lava croissants like pina colada.

For filling dishes Westwood Carvery had prime rib sandwiches and uni pasta.

The Drunken Pot 酒鍋 was also here, no hotpots there but they had cute skewers.
I had the spicy trio which had all my favourites: ducks blood, fish maw and stinky tofu.

Last but not least, I love Indian food so had the Kathi veggie roll from Gaylord.

Make sure you don't miss the drones display.

[National Swedish Day] celebration in Hong Kong

It has been pouring with rain for the past few days and I am so glad the rain stopped for [National Day and Midsummer the longest day of the year in Sweden] as there was a joyous celebration for it in Hong Kong!

It was a great event for families with children with a 3.5-meter tall maypole with folk music live performance.

There was Swedish treats which were delicious especially the Smörgåstårta, "sandwich cake" which is neither a cake or a sandwich but I loved it because the bread was smothered in creamy mayonnaise topped with shrimp.

After filling myself with treats, I hydrated myself with Bluewater (mineral water).

It was fun taking part in the flower crown making workshop where I made a lovely crown with pretty pink carnations.

This event has definitely enlightened me to travel to Sweden so I plan to make a trip there one day.

[Best of British 2017] Summary

The Best of British Hong Kong celebrates and showcases the UK’s culture and capabilities in one of the world’s most dynamic and exciting cities!
Best of British Hong Kong has been up and running since 2015 and it is getting bigger and better every year.
The first year, it was very small held at Chater Garden and now it is taking up the most of Tamar park with lots of activities and food stalls.

To buy food, you have to get cash coupons at the counter.

The cash coupons are in pounds £, the funny thing is $10 = £10 so the food prices look funny!
Imagine Mac n Cheese, Scotch eggs for 60 quid!!

As a foodie, it was a really hard decision because there were so many food stalls serving all my favourites such as pies, mac and cheese etc and the participating stalls were recognized restaurants such as Jamie Oliver, Shoreditch, Chips Republic, Golden Pig.

In the end I had the pork apple burger with black pudding, chicken and leek pie and the roast wrap.

Pork and apple burger with black pudding from The Golden Pig:

Roast Wrap from the House of Yorkshire:
I was disappointed with this wrap because I thought it was going to be the Yorkshire pudding wrap which is trending in UK but it was just an ordinary pancake wrap!
Although the wrap was disappointing, the fillings were delicious with kale, roast potatoes, gravy, horse radish and meat.

Chicken and leek pie from The Golden Pig:
One of the fun activities this year was having fun inside British Airways snow globe.

That's a wrap this year!!
