Pleasing buffet selection at [Harbour Plaza 8 Degrees]

As an expat, I have always found that buffets lacked a cheese selection as well as Indian Curries.
My recent visit to the buffet at [Harbour Plaza 8 Degrees] surprised me and it didn't cost a bomb during the weekdays from Mon - Thur!!

It only costs HKD478 which is under HKD500 and weekdays are quieter anyway.

The selection definitely impressed me but as a standard oysters and lobsters are a must in Hong Kong and they had that too!!!

Freshly shucked oysters:

Seafood including lobster and Alaskan crab legs:

Foie Gras:

Japanese grill & Sashimi!
As well as grilled prawns and fish, I was surprised to see grilled whelk too.

These were my favourites and I was elated they had so many items that many other buffets don't offer such as palm hearts, butter lettuce, curry and a good cheese selection.

Indian curries complete with mint sauce, chutney and pickles:

Cheese Selection!!!

Brie on Carr's Water Biscuit!!!

A decent carvery with horse radish, mustard and gravy, nearby there was my favourite potato gratin!

Dessert was just as good and they even had my favourite pandan cake, cherry tart and BREAD PUDDING!!
They even had the newest Haagen Daz ice cream flavours.
The bread pudding was just like the ones in UK topped with custard and not overly rich.

Other visually good looking desserts: Jelly fruits, Lavender cheesecake, Rose egg white cake and souffle with birds nest.
 Mango Napolean:
 Souffle with Birds Nest:
 Banana Charlotte:
 Rum Pie:
Rose Egg White Roll & Lavender Cheesecake:

Part of the stuff I got from the buffet selection: roast beef with butter lettuce, lamb rack, salted egg yolk prawn, palm hearts and lobster in black bean sauce.
Overall, everything was good so you can expect to be stuffed if you go there~

Skye 1st anniversary set lunch

As a fan of Gary Rhodes, I went to SKYE for lunch to try the 1st anniversary set lunch inspired by Gary Rhodes.
As it was a clear day, there were beautiful views from the window.

Started with bread which was served with butter, salt and pink peppercorns.
It was such a treat with pink peppercorns because they have a lovely aroma that doesn't have a strong spicy kick to it.

It was followed by white tomato soup which tasted like tomato consomme mixed with milk.

Autumn foie gras:
This was silky smooth foie gras with tart berries and I loved the way the caramelized brittle gave it a touch of sweetness enhancing the flavour.

Moving on to the truffled mac and cheese which was cheesy yet balanced by the spinach leaves and earthy mushrooms.

The lamb loin was tender and juicy drizzled with appetizing gravy.
Since the pink peppercorns were still on the table, I put some on the lamb and it tasted fab.

Finished with the bread and butter pudding which is the best I have ever tasted because there was a strong vanilla taste and the top had a crisp caramelized sugar crunch to it just how Gary demonstrated in his video on how to make bread and butter pudding.

Bread pudding @ euro go go

euro go go (Tseung Kwan O)
Went to Euro Go Go for some bread pudding.

After ordering, they asked if I wanted it hot or cold, so I said I wanted it hot.
The receipt they gave me indicates that my bread pudding is to be heated up, but it's funny that the heating instructions to the kitchen is denoted as HOT UP.

Anyway, the bread pudding arrived about 10 minutes later.

Parts of the bread pudding was hot and some parts were still cold.
It was soaked in quite a lot of oil because there was a strong rancid smell which spoilt it.
Otherwise, the taste was reasonably good and not too sweet with hints of cinammon and pieces of raisins in it.

lunchtime cravings for $69 @ Joe Bananas

Havent been to JB's for ages since their kitchen stopped, but recently read mandalay's review and saw they had buffets during lunch.

A wide choice of meats, salads, that were changed rapidly as soon as they were depleted. The tandoori chicken I had with yoghurt sauce was good, but that disappeared fast.

The mussels, which I had no expectations, tasted very juicy without that frozen bland taste. But of course they are the frozen ones. The fried rice was just as spicy as mandalay described.

I enjoyed the coleslaw as much as everything else, proper coleslaw, not the syrupy ones at KFC.

Apart from western food, they also had chinese food such as fish suimai's, mini wrapped glutinous rice with chicken.

The range of drinks was good as well, which were included and soft drinks that were refillable, I had the lime soda. There were also hot drinks such as coffee/ british tea at the drinks table.

Best of all was the piping hot bread and butter pudding. However I thought it had been slightly hongkongnised cos I could taste faint coconut in it. Although there was lumpy custard to accompany it, I was happy to see it.
