Mr Chippy in Croydon

July 2021:
I was on my way to get some chips but when I got there it was closed but luckily they were only closed for a refurb!
Here are the pictures of the new look. Will be returning for fish and chips soons.

May 2021:
My first proper fish and chips dine in after lockdown.
It was so damn good and comforting.
Having it right from the fryer you get the light crispy batter, moist succulent fish and perfectly fried blonde chips.
The batter itself and every component was tasty which means quality and freshness.
Definitely worth the wait.
Nothing can compensate this delicious fish and chip moment!!!!!

Jan 2021:
There are so many chippies in UK that competition is fierce yet strangely there are not many chippies in Croydon town.
While I was taking a walk to down Cherry Orchard I discovered Mr Chippy which specializes in fish and chips.
I didn't try them on my first visit because I already had a commitment for dinner but I was impressed with the guys because when I asked about chicken, they said a fresh batch was coming out.
I just knew this place was going to be good because I love their genuine endeavours serving the best to customers so I can understand why they were featured on Channel 4's Food unwrapped.
Went back a week later for some food and tried the chips with chicken, spicy wings, Southern fried fish bites and a regular battered fish bite.
The fish bites were really surprising because I was expecting small pieces but they were fish tails which are my favourite part of the fish so next time I'm going to order it again.
The amazing thing was that after a walk home, the fish batter was still light and crispy.
However I couldn't quite taste the difference between the battered and Southern coating (non spicy) because they were quite similar, but anyway I'll be back for them so will get the spicy one next time.
They also have grilled fish too.
As well as the fish, the chips were also the star of the show, just how I like them ie not greasy.
You can always tell if a chip is good visually and by taste, well I can because my tastebuds are sensitive and also by smell because there isn't a greasy smell from the chips or in the shop.
The spicy wings were similar to the ones you get from the chicken shop but there was an extra tikka kick to it.
After finishing the food, I still felt hungry which is a sign of a good chippy because it doesn't leave you bloated.
Overall, highly recommended if you are in the area.

UK versus HK food festive schedules

As a foodie, it is always nice to try festive foods which are exciting and creative every year.
It is interesting how vastly different the time when Hong Kong and UK start selling the festive stuff.
The only festivals that Hong Kong and UK share are Christmas, Valentines and Easter.
In UK, straight after Halloween finishes, the shelves are stocked with Christmas goodies and shortly after Christmas like 27th December, you will find Easter chocolate eggs and Valentines treats already.
In Hong Kong, you will probably find shops selling festive items a month beforehand but influencers are getting sent these items a few months ahead.

Butterflies of hope at Lee Tung Avenue Photographed by PH Yang

“Butterflies of Hope” is the world's first AI butterflies illuminating interactive art, created by 2019
MARTELL Artist of the Year Victor Wong, who is also an award-winning Hong Kong visual effects
director.
A 7-meter giant stained glass butterfly and over 350 little LED butterflies will be covering the
LTA atrium and the entire boulevard.
To bring the kaleidoscope of butterflies to life, their lighting will have varied features on days and nights.
During the days, the magic hour happens at 12:30pm –1:30pm.
The illusion glass of butterflies will reflect and refract natural light to the ground, painting a
colorful and dazzling avenue.
At nights, AI (Artificial Intelligence) will control the butterflies to dazzle following the music, bringing a unique Christmas AI symphony to the audience.
