Quick super healthy green stir fry

Filmed and cooked by myself using one hand.

I've been requested for a dish that can be cooked in 3 minutes, hence this video.

Anyways, I did a super healthy greens stir fry which does not need much ingredients as the items are tasty itself.

Ingredients: cooking oil, sesame oil, peas, spring greens and samphire.
Samphire

From Top clockwise: Spring greens, peas, samphire

The reason I chose these ingredients are purely because Samphire is rich in Vit A and iron, Spring greens is nutritionally similar to Kale but cheaper and peas for the sweetness.

A dash of salt and sesame oil is all it needs for flavour because the greens are tasty.
Lastly here is the video:

Cod FishMaw from Annie Gourmet 永發蔘茸海味行

Annie Gourmet 永發蔘茸海味行 is a specialist that sells Chinese delicacies which are ready to eat or packaged in dried form.
They also have frozen meat as seen at their booth at the Foodexpo.

Got a box of Cod Fishmaw from Annie Gourmet which can be prepared and cooked in different ways.
It has to be soaked for a while before being cooked.

As it was my first time preparing cod fish maw, I got the method online from The Chinese Soup lady.

After soaking a batch of cod fish maw, I made three dishes out of it: soup, chilled appetizer and cod fish maw with noodles.

The chilled is pretty simple, you treat it like jellyfish and toss it in whatever seasoning you like for example sesame oil with some salt but I used chicken gravy as I liked the taste of chicken gravy.

The soup was basically sweetcorn, egg and fishmaw soup, a suggested recipe by Annie Gourmet, another simple treat by just throwing everything in the pot and when you get the acquired taste, cornstarch is added to thicken the soup.

Last but not least was noodle with cod fish maw steak.
Another easy recipe where you just boil some noodles and serve it with cod fish maw with gravy poured on top!

As a first time with cod fishmaw, I was pretty satisfied with the dishes.

Camellia is not just a garden flower

Earlier this year I discovered Camellia oil because it was awarded 'The Best Natural Cooking Oil' award at Hong Kong LOHAS Award 2019.

Sunplan - Cold Pressed Extra Virgin Camellia Oil is a vegetable oil extracted from Camellia tea seeds which contains all three essential fatty acids like Omega 3, 6 & 9.

Since I have this plant in my garden, I felt compelled to try it because Camellia has always been a pretty flower in the garden.

Before I use any ingredient, I will always smell and taste it so that it can be used accordingly.

I was expecting the oil to have a flowery aroma like the real plant but it didn't which meant you could use the oil for anything like cooking and making cakes.

One of the advantages of Camellia oil is its high smoke point (burning point) which means it is suitable for cooking at high temperatures like frying food.

I used the oil on egg fried rice because egg is the soul of fried rice and it turned out quite well.

It just behaved like normal oil and the fried rice tasted good as you could still taste the egg.

For baking, I happily used the oil in the muffin mixture because it is good for your health and better than using non nutritious oils.

As as well as cooking, it can also be used on hair and skin.

The best thing is that it complies to the FDA which is something I trust.

Sunplan - Cold Pressed Extra Virgin Camellia Oil can be purchased from HKTVmall:

Herbs discovery journey at Meyer cookware in Hong Kong

I was really glad to be invited by Meyer cookware in Hong Kong to participate in a herb discovery session which everyone can go along and check it out because there is a herb garden with stations where you can create your own herbal tea bags and seasonings for chicken wings.

Herbal tea station:

Herbs station to make chicken wing seasoning:

In the middle, there are some jars of dried herbs which you can smell.

This is a really good concept because fresh herbs and dried herbs are not as easy to access as other countries and people are not familiar that there are so many other herbs you can experiment with.
As well as herbs, a full showroom of their products are available and they also have vinegars that you can try.

Our first activity was Masala Chai where we learnt about the herbs for the tea and got to make it ourselves.
I didn't put a lot of the herbs but the taste was really strong but the sweetened condensed milk toned it down.

Next we made pasta with Eric Cheung, a food designer.

I chose to make basil pasta.

Making pasta was made easy with Meyers non slip bowl and the flexi spatula which can mimic the palm of your hand when pressing the dough.

We also got to try the cooked version of pasta which tasted good by simply stir frying it with onion and adding salt and pepper.

Foie gras cooking lesson

Oceanthree Development Limited specializes in frozen luxuries such as Foie Gras, Crabs, Seafood and other gourmet foods.

They also sell a wide range of prized salts and other items.

Attended a cooking class by Cedric Touchard.

He demonstrated three different ways of serving foie gras.

1. Panfried foie gras with shiitake mushrooms and fresh spinach.

2. Pomelo salad with foie gras.

3. sliced foie gras, fried mango, lime, coconuts and piment d'espelette.

After watching the demonstration, I realilzed Foie gras was really simple to pan fry.
It tastes good on its own so if your lazy you can simply not bother with the recipe and have it with a dash of salt or a drizzle of balsamic vinegar or even jam.

Out of the three recipes, I liked recipe number 3 because it was refreshing served with balsamic vinegar.

Thanks to Oceanthree for the goodies especially my favourite Maldon salt which has an amazing pyramid structure.
