Banana straciatella gelato

2/3 Dolci (Wan Chai)

I was going to a tasting nearby and was half an hour early so decided to get a gelato from Dolci.

Usually I get the pistachio but decided to try the Banana straciatella gelato instead.
I expected it to be good because it was going have real bananas in it just like their pistachio gelato.

Banana straciatella gelato:

Stracciatella is a milk-based gelato that is filled with fine, irregular chips of chocolate.
The colour was natrual and I loved the pieces of chocolate because it tastes better than having banana flavoured with cocoa.

The taste was natural, it was light with a touch of banana and irregular pieces of crisp sweet chocolate.
It had a lovely smooth, thick and sticky texture which was a mix of gelato and sorbet.

Water:

It was considerate of them to give me a glass of hot water after having some gelato.

It's Banana time

Found out that there was a new Banana and chocolate drink so tried it.

Banana chocolate:

On first sip, it was too sweet!
There was a nice banana smell and the chocolate did not have a sour aftertaste, but the main problem was that the drink was too sweet.

Banana puff with a surprise @ Euro Go Go

Wanted to try the banana puff so went in for it.
It was tea time so had to get the tea set but the tea that came with it was Hong Kong style milk tea which I do not drink.
Anyway, the banana puff arrived and it smelt quite buttery.
I sliced it to take a cross sectional picture of it and when I was looking at it on my Camera, I realised there ws a piece of hair in it.
What the hell is wrong with Chinese hygiene???
After I starting this blog, I found 99% of the food with bad hygience was Chinese or chinese related!!

Anyway, the taste was too sweet and I did not bother eating it because the hair had put me off

Banana pie @ McDonalds

Tried the banana pie even thought I dont like Banana, but I like to trying new things.

It tasted rather sweet, with a cooked banana taste.

Banana fritters and Laksa @ Ma Thai

As mentioned in my earlier review, I would revisit this place to try either the Laksa or the Buk Ku Teh.
So this time I tried the Laksa, just to compare with the other places I had before.

For a bowl of Laksa, it was priced at $60, which is the average Laksa price in Hong Kong for a seafood one. As shown on the picture, the seafood, were the frozen ones as expected with no taste, boiled and placed on top of the noodles when served.

The prawns were the peeled types, which were convenient, the only draw back, is that it doesn’t have that prawn taste.

Anyway tasted better than I expected, the soup was much stronger, it was thick and full bodied, creamy, but not too strong of coconut.
The noodles were the thick white ones like spaghetti, they were soft and flavoured from the soup.
The tofu was slightly harder and chewier than preferred, the soup was not spicy at all, so anyone who cannot eat spicy laksa, can try it here.

For dessert I had coconut banana fritters, the batter was just right, light and crispy, inside with pureed banana, and topped with lots of desiccated coconut. The sweetness was acceptable.
Quite a good dessert too.
