Apple pie from Shatin 18

There was a recent hype for apple pie because there was a local Hong Kong film which featured apple pie from this cafe in Tai Po.
I have never tried it because Tai Po is too far and so is Shatin.

Thanks to KC for this apple pie.

It was my first HONG KONG APPLE PIE, the ones I tried before were the smaller versions!

This was a huge one!!

It was loaded with so much apples in it!!!
There was a mix of Granny smith and red apples according to the label.

Interestingly I found the apple pie sweet but KC said it was tart but then I have a very high tolerance for sour things.

As for the rest of the apple pie, I had it the Western way paired with cream and custard!

Back for more at Beef and Liberty

After a trying their falafel burger, I was craving for more so came back another day for it.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Falafel burger in a bowl:

Decided to go light and have salad for an extra $20 without the bun.
It was freshly tossed baby spinach leaves in vinaigrette.
The burger sauces were served separately which was great and the falafel patty was as tasty as before with hints of cumin and delicious lentils.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Lemonade and mint:

I loved their fresh lemonade which was such a thirst quencher wiht a hint of mint.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Apple pie:

I loved their apple pie and requested to have cream instead of custard.

The whole combination was just divine because the thick cream emulsion paired well with the gently tart apple pie.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Tomato sauce:

On the previous visit, they had organic Heinz ketchup.
This time they had ketchup from Essex.

Food glorious British food!!

Shortbread Teas (Central)

I am always here for food because I can't get enough of it.
It really pisses me off for the week if I don't get my weekly dose from here!!

Got some tea from the tea sale which I never made, but now I have a lovely tea strainer so I've got no excuse!~!

Anyway, heres a collection of the yummy food I usually have.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Egg and mayonnaise sandwich:

Although this is a simple sandwich that anyone can make, I just love it because it is filled with delicious egg and mayonnaise with a hint of parsley.
Normally, it would have garden cress but you can't get that in Hong Kong.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Valentine's special:

Delicious cake with icing, but their homemade chocolate really surprised me~~~~
Their homemade chocolates taste better than Royce and they melt in your mouth!~!
I really regretted not buying more because I loved the alcoholic taste in it as well.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Blueberry and white chocolate cake:

This was one of their weekly specials with creamy chunks of white chocolate in the cake and lovely chewy blueberries.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Ham, apple and cheese baguette:

This is another one of my favourites because apple, cheese and ham go great together and the ham that they use is not too salty and it is nice and tender.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Apple pie:

This is another must eat item when they have it because it is baked with huge pieces of apple which are tart and crisp complemented by the perfectly delicious buttery pastry sprinkled with powdered sugar.

Scrumptious pies any day any time from Tai Tai Pie Pies

Tai Tai Pie Pies (Admiralty)

I have always wanted to get pies from TaiTaiPiePies but never made it to their popup stalls at the markets.

Previously I tried their pecan pies when they did a joint venture with Secret Ingredients and Blue Smoke for Thanksgiving.

I was so glad to see them at Great supermarket and try other flavours which I could not get my hands on before.

However, there are still some flavours I would like to see such as: Spinach Pignoli Nut Quiche, Asparagus Cheddary Quiche, Cheese & Onion Quiche, B3P (Big British Breakfast Pie), Country Strawberry-Rhubarb Pie, Coconut Dreams Cream Pie, Prosciutto Wrapped Figilicious Pie.

Their online ordering did not work for me because they only did the family sized pies but here you can get bite sized ones.

The pies here are all cold and refrigerated when you buy them so you need to reheat them when you get home.

All the pies are cooked right through so theoretically if you don't heat it up properly you will not get food poisoning.

They have an oven to reheat the pies if you should need it.

Basically they had savoury pies and sweet pies.

I was surprised to see Asian flavours: Three Cup Chicken Pie, The Hong Kong Beef Curry Pie, The Hong Kong Chicken Curry Pie, P10, Perfect 10 Vegetarian Hong Kong Curry Pie.

Although I do not like Chinese food, the tastes of the Asian Flavours probably taste good because TTPP pies are delicious.

After placing my order, they packed the pies in the bag and all I had to do was take them to the counter and pay.

It shows that they trust their customers and make life easy for them!!!

Most retail stalls will not give you your goods until you present the receipt.
Let's hope no one abuses this system by running away with some delicious TTPP's!!

In the box, there are some clear heating instructions.

The Ultimate Cottage Beef Pie:

I was really glad I got the cottage beef pie, it had chunks of sweet suede in it and the mash on top was delicious and dreamy.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Drunken Apple Crumble:

The alcoholic taste wasn't very strong but still a decent apple crumble.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Wholly Heavens Chocolate Sin Pecan:

The pecan chocolate pie was lovely and gooey with thick but not cloyingly sweet chocolate!
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Wholly Heavens Pecan:

The pecan pie was also delicious and I am sure anyone would like it, the sweetness was just right with lovely pecan nuts and chewy filling on a delicious butter shortcrust.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Fishalicious Pie:

The pepper taste was a bit too strong for my liking because it was stronger than the fish.
But I liked the peas and carrots in it giving a balance to the spicy pepper taste and the pieces of fish.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Tart Cherry Sweet Crumble Pie:

This was my favourite, deliciously buttery crumbs on top with tart cherries on the bottom.

Juicy cute apple bites

Saw these new cute apple pies so had to try them, on my earlier visit they were sold out, so I got them on a later visit.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Mini apple pie:
The shape of these apple pies were like wedges of deep fried apple.
Initially I thought they were literally wedges of apple coated in flour and deep fried, but it was diced apple in cinnamon sauce inside. The taste of these apple bites were quite nice, however it was weird they were sprinkled with salt, or perhaps they had mistaken the salt for sugar.
