There are two branches of Mamasons Dirty Ice Cream and they are famous for its purple ube ice-cream and other sweet treats.
Mamasons specializes in Filipino ice cream with special items during the weekend when there are more people.
There are two branches, one in Chinatown and one at Camden.
As I was at Leicester Square, I tried Mamasons over the weekend as they had the donuts as well.
I went for the ube icecream on ube brownie as well as the donut.
If you have tried Flipino food, a majority of it can be quite sweet but overall Flipino food is extremely delicious especially dinuguan, pinkabare, taro leaves etc.
At the Chinatown branch of Mamasons, you can expect it to be quite busy being in a prime location so best to visit on week days.
The ube donut was just pretty, an ordinary donut contrasted by the purple creme which had a rich and fragrant ube taste, however the doughnut dough was a little disappointing because it wasn't yeasty and it was rather oily and yellow just like Chinese donuts.
As for the ube brownie, it was definitely different because it was made of ube hence the dark purple.
Unfortunately, I found the texture too sugary but luckily the ube ice-cream fared better.
Also had tea, but it was too hot to handle as they didn't have cup sleeves but luckily they gave me another cup.

[Review] Thayer's Real Dairy Ice Cream
I was on my way to a pub in the Seaside area and discovered this.
To be honest, this ice cream shop has been here for more than 40 years but as a child I wasn't really foodie and all I did was hang around in town.
Anyway, better late and never.
Behind this ice cream joint is the famous Italian Fusciardi's another gelato parlour which can be tried later but my priority was Thayer's!!!
It was a relaxed ice cream joint with so many ice creams to choose from and they have soft ice/ softie / softserve which is made in house with Jersey Milk so it is expected to be creamy.
There are a few tables so you can dine in!
Having all these ice cream choices was a treat.
I picked Cinnamon and Rhubarb ginger.
There were also the usual like Pistachio, salted caramel etc which are available in the city.
The ice cream texture was to my liking and it was thick, gooey and mastic like Turkish Ice Cream.
The rhubarb ginger (left) was a surprise as it was loaded with crystallized ginger, although the rhubarb wasn't really prominent, the overall flavour was good.
The other scoop was cinnamon (right), also good but it got outshone by the rhubarb ginger so if I were to choose cinnamon again, it should be paired with something lighter.

[3 ITALIANI] Italian gelato in Causeway Bay
3 ITALIANI meaning three Italians is obviously opened by three Italians.
At 3 ITALIANI, you can expect a good choice of authentic Italian gelato, chocolate and coffee.
There are 30 different flavours of gelato and sorbet.
(20 traditional Italian flavours and 10 Asian flavour on offer in Hong Kong).
They are made in store everyday, free from preservatives, syrups and colouring which can be seen behind the glass.
There are 5 flavours exclusively created for Hong Kong: 3 Italiani (mango, coconut and sponge cake), Chocolate Wasabi, English Trifle, Crema Antica and Chocolate sorbet.
The chocolate sorbet is an interesting one because it still tastes of strong chocolate without the milk.
Clearly English Trifle was my favourite being English.
It is slightly different to the trifle with custard and jelly because it had cherries, dark choc, red velvet cakes, small amount of liqueur but it was still good.
The best thing is that you can add whipped cream to it which I did.
Great coffee:
Also tried the waffle with nutella and cream, a great dessert to share:

[DALLOYAU Hong Kong] New summer ice cream selection
Summer is here and I was invited to try DALLOYAU's new summer ice cream selection.
There are three new colourful flavours: Rose, Raspberry and tropical Peach & Mango.
Tried all three and personally I like the raspberry because it is sweet and fresh tasting like Yoplait's raspberry yoghurt.
The rose was really fragrant so it all depends if you like rose while the peach and mango I found quite sweet.

GODIVA 2017 CHOCOLIXIR series
GODIVA ASIA have launched made-to-order drinks to the CHOCOLIXIR collection:
The new flavours are: Blueberry White Chocolate, nutty Almond Flavour White Chocolate; Belgian’s Speculoos Flavour White Chocolate and the zesty Lemon White chocolate.
Every drink is paired with a complimentary piece of chocolate of your choice.
My favourite was the zesty Lemon White chocolate which tasted like a refreshing Lemon meringue while the almond one is also good because you can really taste the almond and white chocolate bits in the drink.

[Petite House] Egg puffs with gelato
I was glad I tried this new joint at Festival called Petite House because they have Paninis as well as sweet treats like pancakes, egg puffs and of course gelato.
The gelato is made fresh every day.
I started with the Panini which was difficult to choose as there were two that were good ( The parma ham and buffalo mozzarella and the ham with fontina cheese).
For dessert it was a battle choosing between the purple potato egg puffs and the black forest pancakes.
In the end, I ordered with Ham with Fontina cheese panini and the purple potato egg puff.
+++++++++
Fontina cheese panini:
I loved this because the panini was crisp and light while the fontina cheese was melted and gooey.
There was sweet apricot mustard in it as well which balanced the heaviness of the cheese.
+++++++++
purple potato egg puff:
I didn't have any expectations for this because desserts in HK are way too sweet.
Surprisingly, the sweetness was just right because the purple potato gelato isn't very sweet which balances the sweetness of the waffle.
The coconut pieces were the best because it was soft young coconut meat which made me wish it was taro flavoured gelato instead of purple potato.
There were cute oreo biscuits on the waffle to garnish which are about the size of the egg puff bubbles.
+++++++++
Well, I guess I have to come back again for the black forest pancakes and the other panini.

Gelato scam at Das Gute
Found out that they had gelato at Das Gute so went there for it.
I was hoping to get the mint chocolate or Darjeeling but the Darjeeling was sold out.
It was pretty cheap for $20.
However when I got the Gelato, the presentation was a bit funny, it was gelato smeared on the edges with a side and bottom that was empty.
My friend who had it from this branch a few hours before me said her cup of gelato was normal.
Anyway, the yoghurt gelato was on the sweet side but it was quite nice with a flavour that is similar to yakult.
