KFC : Crunchy Munchy Black Pepper chicken

Got the Crunchy-Munchy Black Pepper chicken and I was surprised it tasted better than I expected.
I was expecting fried chicken with plain spicy black pepper taste but the black pepper was not that strong and there was basil flavouring it in as well which made it really nice.

With the set, I had Chicken A La King and I had that first before eating the chicken.
It is similar to chicken royale but nothing as nice compared to it and there is not meant to be black pepper taste in the chicken royale.

It ruined the fried chicken for me because the black pepper taste in the Chicken A La King was much stronger than the black pepper in the fried chicken.

Basil leaves and frog meat @ 泰式燒王 Chai Rung Thai Food

As I know of, this is one of the shops that do fresh cockles, I mean REAL fresh,
while I was eating them, I thought I was seeing them twitch, then after eating half I confirmed they were partly alive when I poked them with chopsticks, it really twitched!!

Despite them being alive, it tasted so good with the chilli sauce, and full of cockle juice. (Not everyones cup of tea)

The other two dishes I ordered were also delicious, fried basil leaves and frog meat, and curried clams with roti.

The basil leaves and frog meat reminded me of Chiuchow dishes, where the leaves are fried to a transparent green. The basil leaves were nice and fragrant, and the frog meat had a crunchy outer layer with strong garlic soy sauce.

Finally the curried clams, when it came, the dish was filled with curry sauce, which looked like golden crab yolk, it wasnt very spicy and had a slight tinge of tomato in it.
It it slightly thick in consistency just like starch gravies with strings of egg in it.

The sauce was so good for dipping the freshly made roti, flakey and crispy, and there was so much sauce left over, we ordered an extra roti to finish the sauce.

The only thing I wanted that wasnt available was their native Thai dish (taion), its supposed to be an undeveloped chicken egg without the shell
(泰式雞仔蛋). I just like to try anything, but shame it wasnt available.

Basil & black pepper flavoured wings @ Burger king

I have always liked basil, so when Burger King came out with the new basil and black pepper chicken drumettes, I had to try it.

Basically Burger King have used their usual spicy drumettes and smothered it with black pepper and basil.
The original spices of the drummette combined with black pepper makes it even more hot.

The basil was different to the one I was expecting, which led me to find out there are so many different types of Basil.
The type used here is the one used in Asian cuisine and not in the Italian cuisine.

Basil world confusion:

As a european, Basil just means Basil, the one that is used in Pasta and Italian dishes, however when you come over to Asia they have a different species of Basil.
The confusion starts here, the basil usually found in Europe is classified as sweet basil [lor lacque 甜羅勒 ]
and the one the asians use is Thai Basil which is called goa chang tap 九層塔 in Chinese, but the Thai's call is gum but woon 金不換

In a earlier review, there was also confusion between BASIL羅勒 and JAPANESE BASIL - Perilla 紫蘇葉[JIE SO]
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perilla

So anyway, the one that I tasted in the chicken wings was the Thai Basil (goa chang tap).
