Plant Based dishes for less than HKD50 at Tsui Wah

Tsui Wah is a famous restaurant that serves Hong Kong style dishes.

I was really excited to find out that Tsui Wah Restaurants are serving omnipork which is the current trend for plant based alternatives.

In general, the prices at Tsui Wah can be pricier than similar restaurants so I was elated that their plant based dishes were under HKD50!!

On the plant based menu, they have the classic Baked Omnipork Bolognese Spaghetti for HKD49 and the local Hong Kong favourite, Omnipork Bolognese sauce with Fried egg over rice for just HKD45.
If you want it totally vegan, you can request for it without egg and cheese which they are happy to accommodate.
As well as main dishes, you can also get your vegetable fix with chilled okra complimented by wasabi soy sauce.

Omnipork Bolognese sauce with Fried egg over rice:

I am so glad this is now on the menu because I loved it, bolognese and rice is simply delicious together and more nutritious with egg if you can eat it.

Baked Omnipork Bolognese Spaghetti:

For pasta lovers, this is another good option, again you can request it without cheese.

I will definitely be coming back for the Omnipork Bolognese sauce with Fried egg over rice because it is just comforting and filling.

For those who are new to omnipork, it is cholesterol free, lower in calories and unsaturated fats.

Avolatte hits Hong Kong

I am not Athletic but was drawn to Athletic Juice & Espresso Bar because of the avolatte.

Avolatte was first served in Melbourne which caused a stir worldwide.

Athletic Juice & Espresso Bar located on Star Street is one of the first places in Hong Kong to serve it.

As well as Avolatte they have healthy juices and smoothies fit for any sporty or athletic person.

On the sweet side, I had the hot chocolate and S7 Marathon Booster.
The hot chocolate was smooth with a strong cocoa taste that was not too sweet.

The Marathon Booster had all my favourites with Agave, Almond Milk, Avocado, Banana and Coconut Water blended with ice. All of the ingredients were in harmony and I loved the fact it was non dairy and vegan friendly whilst great on a hot day.

The avolatte was the star of the show, I loved the savoury aftertaste in the latte and then you get to eat the rest of the avocado when you are finished.

There are so many choices for juice and smoothies that I will have to come back again.

2018 McDonald's D24 Durian McFlurry in Hong Kong

Hong Kong McDonald's launched the durian McFlurry on July 5th which is available in Hong Kong and Macao.
It will only be available for two weeks but surprisingly it was sold out within two days of launch!

You either hate or love Durian like Marmite!
The D24 Durian McFlurry was launched in Malaysia last year so it is not new but new to Hong Kong and Singapore.

I tried it on the first day.

On the menu, there are two options, the standard one for HKD25 and the Deluxe one with extra durian for HKD40.

I ordered the HKD40 where I was given a separate tub of Durian.

To be honest, the durian was not fresh durian but durian puree with tiny shreds of durian in it.
Sadly, the durian puree was sweetened so the extra dose of durian puree didn't give me pleasure but extra goddamn sweetness!

If I knew the durian was sweetened, the standard Durian McFlurry would have been good enough and it is really weird why they had to sweeten it as Durian is naturally sweet anyway.

[Metro Buffet & Grill] Seafood Buffet

After dining at Eaton a few weeks ago, decided to come back for the buffet because they have launched some new items for summer.
The buffet starts from 6 to 9:30 and it was nice of them to let you get seated before 6 and all staff had sincere smiles and service.
I thought it was a good deal for HK$478 per person because other places that serve oysters and seafood are around $600-700 per person.

As soon as I arrived, the place was impressive, it was like a green house with a high viewing ceiling and a birdcage with a crystal chandelier inside with bullet lifts going up and down.

You could also smell a lovely aroma from the Movenpick cart which offers so many different icecreams and toppings.

The buffet selection was really good, I like the cured salmon in beetroot and the other ginger one.

There were mussels as well:

The crispy soft shell crabs were paired nicely with salad.

In the Chinese crab selection, they had fried crab with glass vermicelli which was so tasty because it had absorbed the flavours of the crab.

Finished with a sweet ending of icecream and desserts.

#McDonaldsNext Hong Kong Concept

Earlier we saw McDonalds #createyourtaste which allows you to customize your burger.

Now there is #McDonaldsnext which is a modern restaurant that lets you customize your salad using the touchscreen stands.

There are also charging points for your mobile phones.
The only bad point about this restaurant is that they sell their regular menu as well which means there are lots of people buying drinks and occupying the seats doing trivial things like tuition and selling insurance, the norm in Hong Kong.

I customized a salad and ordered the waffle because these were the items unique to this store.
The cheese choices for the salad were poor, it was either mozzarella or Parmesan and no Cheddar.

Unfortunately, they gave me the wrong salad base.

I was given the romaine, iceberg and lettuce mix and not the California mix that I chose.
The Quinoa and the big pearls of Couscous was amazing because it was really tasty.
The crayfish and egg salad was nice which is basically the same filling as the one they use in their croissants

It was really good that they give you the dressing separately because I didn't really need it but there are three dressings: vinaigrette, caesar and sesame.

For desserts, the mixed berries sundae waffle was a bit too sweet.

The tea was weird, I was given a pot of hot water and a cup of hot water.

~Theres a flavour for everyone~ @ Tuttimelon

Came here a long time ago when it was closed due to some internal operations.

Anyway, finally came on a day when it was open.

The flavours they have now are much better, and there are ten different flavours, so there must be one of your desire.

The ten flavours that day were:
Honeydew Melon
Mixed berries
Chocolate
Honey and Jasmine
Ginger and Honey
Original
Yakult
Mango
Green Tea
Pina Colada

The flavours I tried were: honeydew, chocolate, honey and jasmine, honey and ginger, original, and pinacolada.

The ones that had a really strong taste were honeydew, chocolate, honey and ginger.
Pinacolada was the best, it tasted like Yoplait's fromage frais yogurt.
The original tasted like yakult which was disappointing because they already had a flavour for Yakult, so what is the point of having two flavours that taste similar?

There were lots of toppings but I purely wanted to try the yogurts, so maybe next time as I want to try the yogurt chips.
Hopefully on my next visit the flavours will all be different so I can try other flavours.
