Noodles in tomato soup @ 西貢真味越南小廚

Cambodian noodles in tomato soup with beef
When it was served, the soup looked nice and strong, however there
was some strange smell to the beef.
There was two big pieces of unmanageable beef.
The beef had so much fat and chewy parts that I gave up eating it.
Same with the carrots, two huge pieces of the carrot taking up most of the bowl.
I preferred the beef to be cut into smaller pieces.
Anyway, the noodles were edible but I did not like the soup because of the weird beef smell, luckily the herbs made it slightly better.
The noodles was not as good as the reviews said it was.

2011 Mooncakes for the eldery by Chi Lin Nunnery

I do not like traditional mooncakes same as those steamed buns with white lotus paste.

Anyway, the one I am writing about now has a pretty peaceful looking lotus flower on the lid.
It had a proper English nutritional label.
This mooncake is filled with lotus paste and ginger filling.
Ginger is usually quite beneficial for the elderly and most people.
The ginger taste was very prominent that it made me forget about the white lotus.
Although it was for the elderly [ie reduced sugar], I still felt that it was slightly too sweet.

Flamed grilled pork sausage burger@ Burger King

I have never tried the pork burgers at BK apart from breakfast, so decided to try the new flame grilled pork sausage burgers at BK.

There were three in that series:
Flame grilled pork sausage burger with onion rings
Flame grilled pork sausage with crispy onion pieces
Flame grilled pork sausage with fried egg.

I tried the pork sausage burger with crispy onion and the pork sausage burger with fried egg.

Pork sausage burger with crispy onion pieces
I expected this one to taste nice and I really liked it because they put BBQ sauce in it, and the crispy onion pieces gave it some crunch and flavour.
The BBQ sauce was great with the pork sausage.

This was also nice because it had mayonnaise and cheese.

For both burgers, I did not like the bun because it had sesame seeds and the bun itself was hard.
The pork patty is slightly drier and firmer than McDonalds one.
There are less fatty bits in the BK one.
Overall the pork sausage burger with crispy onions was the best in my opinion.

Despicable service @ 海港酒家

Usually I will post pictures of food, but the service so despicable that I can't be bothered.

The other branch at MaOnShan was not that irritating.

Anyway, I went to reception on behalf of someone who had booked the table, and the receptionists were busy ignoring me, so I patiently waited.
However the people behind just jumped the queue and spoke to the dragon ladies and somehow they responded so maybe this is the way in Hong Kong, there is no such thing as civilisation in Kowloon.
To be precise this branch is in TKO which is not even in Kowloon but the New territories~!

To be served at this restaurant, you must jump the queue and force them to serve you just like in China.
Or wait til the queue dies down and try again which I did.

Anyway, this booking was booked a week ago for EIGHT people, so when we went to our table we were expecting 8 seats!
The whole purpose of booking was to ensure a table and seats of course!
Went to the table and there was ONLY five seats, so asked the waitors about the other three and they just grabbed some round stools to make up for it.
I thought it was a big insult to pre-book and not get what is expected!
What is their stupid booking service for.

Next on was the food, it wasnt bad, but some dishes were slow to arrive.

One of the dishes was a joke, it was spareribs in hawthorn sauce, there was only three pieces of meat and the rest of it was shallots.
It was about 70% vegetables and 30% meat and spareribs is considered as the main!???!!!

Tea dumplings and Gung Lee cane juice

Walked past and saw that they had some of the traditional chinese cha gwore so got one to try.

It did not have pork so that is why I got it.
I got the dumpling with black eyed beans and dried shrimp filling.

The dumpling was shinier than the homemade ones, and greasy.
The dough part was tough and chewy.

However the filling was great, it was slightly dry, but you can taste the black eye beans and shrimp.

Apart from the dumplings, they seemed to have bottled cane juice from GUNG LEE, well thats what the picture tag on the bottle suggests anyway.
cane juice from kung lee?
