Soy sauce stir fried noodles @ 潮城燒臘粥店

This shop has two sides, one side specializes in congee and the other side specializes in noodles.
The sitting area at the congee side was full so was allocated at the noodle side but you can still order food from the congee restaurant.

Soy sauce stir fried noodles:
The noodles looked good but were actually tasteless. They were hard and dry.
After adding vinegar and chili it tasted quite nice because I do not like adding the Chinese sweet sauce.
Luckily they did not have sesame seeds on it.

Beef rice rolls:
As always these were delicious, they had delicious dried tangerine peel in it.
The soy sauce was too salty this time so the rice rolls ended up too salty.
There are two types of beef rolls: minced beef or sliced beef.

The Royal House

Discovered this shop next to Kowloon City Ferry pier......................
The shop was huge and sold lots of boxed chocolates, it was mainly fruit covered chocolate such as durian which I really wanted to try, but they did not have a smaller box.

As well as Malaysian chocolate they had Venchi chocolate, but there are lots of Venchi branches elsewhere so I chose the chocolate by Beryl's ( a Malaysian brand).
The bag they used was a Venchi bag!
The receipt was interesting too, the shop was called The Royal House but the shop front had chocolate.
The opening hours were even more confusing!
From 10:00-0800 so does that mean from 10 in the morning to the next 8am in the morning???
It was 7pm that night so I could not work out whether this place was still open as there was no one in there.
The variety in there was amazing and I could not decide which chocolate to get!!

Beryl's coconut chocolate:
In the end got this one and it was quite nice, the shape was irregular and it had crispy bits inside which were full of coconut taste.
The sweetness of the chocolate was just right but I would have preferred dark chocolate.

Pandan cheese swiss roll and Pineapple tarts from bengawansolo

This was the first time writing on Openrice's travel log because there is no English on this system so it took me many tries to figure out how it works.

Hopefully this will work because I would like to Thank IVYCWK for the delicious Pandan Swiss roll with cheese, Lipsmack lipbalm and Reese's PB chocolate :)

As I have never been to Singapore, I just assumed the Pandan cake was famous over there but the Pandan Swiss roll with cheese at Bengawan Solo is also famous too.

I always believe the food in Singapore should taste good because there are many expats and they speak English, so the food should be properly Westernized.

Pandan Swiss roll with cheese
The swiss roll was delicious, it had buttercream inside and extremely finely grated cheese. The cheese tasted quite cheddary and it was slightly salty which enhanced the saltiness of the buttercream and made it really nice.
Usually I do not like buttercream in Chinese cakes, because it is sweet and savoury, but this swiss roll was just scrumptious with the cheese.
The pandan roll itself was lovely and soft with fragrant pandan flavouring.

As well as the Swiss Roll, I was also lucky to get my hands on some pineapple tarts.
The pastry literally melts in your mouth and its not too sweet.
Although labelled like tarts they look more like rods with pineapple filling.
Tasty with some evaporated milk and they taste very similar to Jamaican pineapple pastries.

Drinking from a bag

In some south Asian countries they serve drinks in a bag and in some countrys hot drinks in bags too!~!!
For me if I were to sell drinks in a bag, I would design a really stylish one or make the bag looks like one of those medical IV drip bags.

Innovative Omurice by Omerice

If it was not so expensive I would definately try the spinach and scallop omurice, but the Tom Yum Kung omurice looks fun to eat as well.
