Simple food at Toast box

I used to like Toast box but after trying other foods I felt that the food here was slightly over priced.

i dont mean their food is cheap but the items in the sets are inexpensive such as luncheon ham, egg, peanuts etc.

Basically the luncheon meat was tastless and over done that it was dry.
The deep fried little fishes were bitter and the fried egg was tasteless.

 

 

 

As for the runny egg that needed more skill to cook and its taste relied on the soy sauce.

 

Octopus tentacles @ San Shing Food Shop

I was really missing those octopus tentacles skewers that I had at Dor Dor eatery, but the service there was a bit annoying so I tried the octopus tentacles skewers next to it.

They also cost $8.
As this shop was not really busy, the staff there was quite patient.

You can have these hot or cold, so I had them cold.
They were clean as I did not get food poisoning the next day.
The tentacles here were rather chewy and the mustard sauce tasted a bit off and the sweet sauce tasted too sweet.
It was also quite spicy because there had been some spicy sauce in that bowl.

Hot Dog submarine @ Deluxe Sandwiches Express

I have not been here for a while because they had an attitude problem before.
They refused to accept legal tender, ie the coppers such as ten and twenty cents.

After the rennovation I decided to check it out.

The prices have gone up but the food was still the same.

Hot Dog submarine:

 

 

Although this was labelled a hot dog, it was more like a submarine.
The bun really ruined the hot dog because it was sweet and had sesame seeds on it.
The salad filling and sauce also made it taste weird.

Marinated duck @ Lo Pak Restaurant

As usual came here for duck, but it was late that day so they had sold out of all the vegetables and tofu that they use to put beneath the duck so that the portion looks bigger.
Despite those ingredients were sold out, the portion of duck was still the same ie not much.

Soup:
The usual white pepper and pigs intestine soup.

Marinated duck:
The duck was dry as it was at the end of the day.
The duck was bony and chewy as well.
The sauce that they poured over the rice was quite salty and oily.
