Scones at La Bohéme Bakery

I was drawn to the counter because of the pistachio cakes but then I was attracted to the scones because they had four different flavours.

I was told the square ones were American ones and the round ones were British scones.

I wanted to get the British scones but they didn't look appetizing so I went for the cinnamon and walnut scone which was the square one.

Walnut cinnamon scone:

The scone tasted quite nice with a strong cinnamon taste and pieces of walnuts in it but it was the dough taste was too heavy.

$30 Daily value set lunch Café de Coral

I rarely go to Cafe de Coral because the queues are long, food is over priced for a self service restaurant.

Only went because of the $30 Daily value set lunch which is how much I feel their food is really worth.

The daily set consists of grilled pork slices with tempura and a drink.

Anyway $30 is about right for some canned sweetcorn, zucchini, pork slices and a piece of tempura which means that the Butadon pork bowl at Dondonya Shokudo is way over priced.

Started off with the Jasmine tea and it was foul, it tasted like Jasmine toilet spray.
(The choices of drinks were the usual Chinese stuff which I do not like.)

Apart from the toilet spray, the pork was really good!!

Each slice of pork was evenly sliced, it was soft, lean and juicy and didn't have a charred taste nor was it too sweet.
The vegetables were healthy because they were plainly boiled and unseasoned.

It was great how they did not put too much soy sauce on the rice and the side of chopped spring onions made the rice tastier.
The vegetable tempura cake was a bit soft though but as a whole the portion size for everything was reasonable.

Honey cake

Thank to KC for this Honey cake, again Shatin was too far but now they have a pop up shop at K11.

Anyway, I got this cake before the pop up shop.

The cake was really nice, packaged nicely in a box which kept its freshness.
As for the cake, it was soft and you could smell the honey as well as taste it.

Tasteless and oily

The food here is expensive but unfortunately the food doesn't match up to it.

Tried the lamb and leek which was mega disappointing because the leeks were old and stringy and the lamb was tasteless.
I was expecting some bold spices and herbs but it was just leeks and onions.
The rice beneath is was too soft and oily.

Banana caramel delight at Passion by Gerald Dubois

This is a great place to have a light treat.

I had the banana caramel delight which was a bit like a banana cake with almonds and crushed pistachios on top.

It was soft and moist with real pieces of bananas in it and not too sweet.

Mushy rice

This is the weirdest spring onion oil I have seen.
It was plain chicken topped with FRESHLY cut green spring onions.

The rice beneath it was mushy like congee and the sauce that was really looking forward to was tasteless.

Dude, get off ur phone at 台北狀元香滷味

Had to wait bloody ages because the woman who was cooking the food was on the bloody phone.
There was a total mix up with orders!

Basically you choose what you want with rice.
I hate the rice because it was Japanese pearl rice which is hard and heavy.
Finally tried the Taiwanese blood sausage and taro thing and they were was sweet so I didn't like it.
The tofu fared better and the chicken gizzard was not soft enough.
