IKEA Ready Meals LÄTTLAGAT

IKEA Ready Meals LÄTTLAGAT!
I was surprised to discover ready meals at the frozen section of IKEA Swedish Food Market which of course has the iconic meatballs!
There were three to choose from: chicken, plant or veggie.
Clearly the chicken was for me because it came with Brussel sprouts, roast potatoes, gravy and red cabbage and blackcurrant jelly.
To summarize, it was convenient, delicious and felt like Christmas however it was a bit expensive at £4.50 because supermarket ready meals will set you back at around £2.50 for frozen/chilled roast chicken dinner for example.
IKEA is seen as affordable so £4.50 is a bit much even though it was seriously delicious.
Overall, I liked it but mash would have been better than roast potatoes because heats up better in the microwave and oven.
The plant balls come with mash, broccoli and gravy while the veggie balls come with rice, veg and curry sauce.
Although it is new here, they were available in other countries a few years ago like Austria etc.

Revisiting Burger and Beyond in Soho for burgers

Dined at Burger and Beyond again to get a proper experience of their burger because the Christmas ones did not count.
Had the Oso Yaki and Medium-done Bougie Burger with Corn Ribs.
Both burgers were good and the bougie had some nice gravy.
The oso yaki uses the symplicity patty which was to my liking as it does not have those weird soya bits.
The Symplicity patty is a plant-based burger made with naturally fermented mushrooms, onions, and beetroot, with ingredients like wheat gluten, miso, soy sauce, and bulgur wheat.
The nduja corn ribs were very good but I felt that it was just cajun flavouring and nduja was non existent.
Finished with the refreshing spiced berry ice tea made with earl grey, vanilla, blackberry puree, lemon and nutmeg.
Again, the staff here were again clueless as I wanted to change the teriyaki sauce in the burger and suggested they could remove it, so then I had to ask whether I could replace it with an alternative sauce because I meant change the sauce.
I wonder why they even sat us at the table located at the far right corner because one of them has coordination problems and keeps walking into your chair going to the kitchen while the other seat clearly obstructs the till where they put orders through.

Attending the 100% optical ophthalmology exhibition

It was an amazing experience to attend an Opthalmology exhibition because all the professionals and equipment are there under one roof.
I definitely gained a good insight and got lots of advice on eye care.
Inevitably, AI is a big thing now in diagnosis.
As well as eye health, they had some really nice spectacle frames from French Anacole, many brands of eye drops, supplements, contact lens solutions etc.
I even had fun with cataract surgery with chec where I got a 3D chocolate of my head printed.

Affordable ramen at Kokura

Overall authentic ramen served at this place however I would say they are on the salty side.
The seasonal special Tom Yum is seriously good especially if you like a tangy broth.
It is topped with shimeji and white fungas.
The chicken broth for the other ramen is definitely chickeny but it tastes like stock made from chicken bones.

Lunch at Chez Elles, Brick Lane

Along Brick Lane where it is famous for curries and recently an influx of Chinese restaurants.
We went against the grain and had French food.
The setting and menu was authentic however the overall quality could have been a little better.
The cheese souffle was a little cold, while the beef tartare had chewy bits.
Last but not least the duck confit was a bit dry.

Lunch at Cloth Restaurant, Farringdon

Cloth Restaurant, another great option for English fare in a lovely historic building.
During lunch, it is either a la carte or from the lunch set.
The lunch set was good that day so had the two course with a dessert from the main menu.
Started off with the egg and potato which was layers of crispy potatoes and cod roe puree.
I found them similar to confit potatoes at my regular to go to place.
The second course boudin noir which exceeded my expectations as it had a good ratio of pulled meat so it wasn't fatty.
At first I thought it was pulled beef however it was paired with apple sauce so it was probably pulled pork.
For dessert, looking at the menus, the two desserts were quite similar.
The set lunch was rhubarb sorbet with citrus caramel while the main menu was rhubarb and honey custard.
The rhubarb custard we got also had the sorbet so we didn't miss out on the set lunch dessert.
Overall, I am so glad we visited because they delivered.
