Langham Place

Visited Langham Place Shopping mall a while ago.
It has changed quite a lot over the ten years.
What stays the same is the super long escalators which are quite scary going up and down them.
The annoying structure of the mall makes it difficult to leave if you were on the top floor because you either have to take those escalators or go round down the spiral ascending staircase to each floor.

[KFC Food News] Purple Sweet Potato Encounter 全新KFC期間限定【邂逅.紫薯】

Every now and then KFC in Hong Kong will have some strange and wonderful things.
This time was the sweet potato balls which I believe I have tried twice before.
The last time they were out was August 2019.

As well as the purple sweet potato balls, you will also find Purple sweet potato milk and the purple sweet potato tart topped with a marshmallow in the Purple Sweet Potato Encounter series.

purple sweet potato Portuguese tart 紫薯葡撻 $12 a la carte
Purple sweet potato milk 紫薯牛奶 $20 a la carte
Sweet potato balls 雙色蕃薯波 $13 a la carte

The sweet potato balls were not as colourful as the product shot but purple and orange balls and inside it was vice versa.
Both were crispy with a  sweet starchy filling.

In search of my favourite faan hup 飯盒 - 鳳凰燒臘飯店 Fung Wong Roasted Meat Restaurant

For years, I was fed food from 鳳凰燒臘飯店  Fung Wong Roasted Meat Restaurant which I didn't even know.
At that time, I didn't really explore Chinese BBQ meat so didn't realize I was having such delicious food which I took it for granted.
We had these faan hups at different location and random times and the food was always hot while the meat tasted fresh.
Often, the faanhups would be waiting for a while in the van before we ate them but the rice and meat would still be hot and there wasn't any polystyrene odour in the food.
I only made an effort to find the where they were from when I was leaving that company and found out that it was in some village in Wong Tai Sin.
My Chinese wasn't good back then so it was hard to google it.
A few years later, I got an approximate location but it was not that near the MTR hence I held back going there.
As a foodie for the past ten year, roast meats in Hong Kong whether dine in or takeaways just could not match the roast faan hups at 鳳凰燒臘飯店  Fung Wong Roasted Meat Restaurant.

After googling this shop, I found an article which confirmed that this was the shop I was looking for because he also got the source from a PA at TVB.
Quoted from Weirdjun at Blogspot
"TVB 無論在天涯海角拍戲都要番黎鳳凰村 買飯盒"
Hence true as the crew are always working at different TV Stations.

Basically, the roast pork was damn good because it isn't too sweet or salty with a nice crispy edge.
The scallion oil is also amazing and so is the salted egg.
Anyway, it was comforting that I found it, however dining in a restaurant with strangers is so different to eating out at different locations be it inside/outside from a polystyrene box with a bunch of celebs and crew.

I haven't dined at the TVB Canteen, but this hidden one at Clear Water Bay studios where the cops go for meals is damn good but not sure if it is still around.
The salted meat patty and the pan fried chicken is also recommended but I wonder if it is still around.
The service here is cocky but they deserve to be cocky!

Five alluring new handcrafted beverages and four spectacular desserts integrating rose are on the latest celebrated instaworthy annual ‘Rosemantic Summer’ menu.

Bright and breezy Rosa Garden Shakerato (HK$54) is a caffeine-free mulberry leaf green juice blended with rose honey for refreshing flavour and frothy texture. Sultry Rosa Espresso Shakerato (HK$54) is a fruity, balanced iced espresso shaken with rose honey for a pleasant rose aroma with a lingering finish. Four equally irresistible and Instagrammable desserts complete the ‘Rosemantic Summer’ menu.

Two are available at all eight HABITŪ table and HABITŪ caffè branches – Romantic Raindrop (HK$68), a lightly sweet vegan-friendly kanten jelly with subtle flavour of rosa and beautiful dried rose petals, garnished with garden fresh berries, grape, fig and apple; and Strawberry Rosy Tiramisu (HK$78), an elegant and creamy mascarpone layered with rose honey-infused ladyfingers and strawberry rose compote, topped with fresh strawberries, chia seed and rose petals.

Strawberry Rose Churros (HK$88), traditional Spanish pastries freshly fried to golden perfection and delicately coated with cinnamon sugar, with house-made rose jam, are exclusively available only at HABITŪ table in Hysan Place (Eslite), Olympian City, Cityplaza Eslite Spectrum, Elements Mall and Mira Place.

Hot fluffy Berries Pancakes (HK$68) topped with Greek yogurt, raw honey, chia seed and fresh mixed berries are meanwhile exclusive to HABITŪ caffè at Cityplaza, The ONE and YOHO Mall.

Coffee-themed workshops also continue a ‘Rosemantic Summer’ tradition under the guidance of HABITŪ’s specialist baristas – with instruction in Cantonese priced HK$398 per person at HABITŪ table Hysan Place (Eslite) and Olympian City. Bookings can be made via www.habitu.com.hk/workshops.

Rosemantic Summer Latte Art Workshop (9 August & 6 September 2020, 12 noon-1:30 p.m.) advances latte art knowledge, discovering the secrets of free-pour latte and techniques to create floral-themed latte art. The workshop introduces HABITŪ Wellness Soy Latte (Beetroot), unveils secrets of plant-based milk and temperature control, and provides instruction on creating perfect latte art and art etching.

The session ends on a fragrant note, learning how to make own body scrub with coffee ground and soothing rose essential oil, sponsored by Turkish skincare brand gülsha.

HABITŪ is also launching a new 2020 series of ‘Rosemantic Summer’ merchandise – including an elegant matte pink, double walled KINTO To-Go Tumbler (HK$328, 12oz) for hydrating in style; CLASSICO Eco Cup (HK$98, 10oz) made from bamboo fibre to sip your favourite caffè from a reusable eco cup instead of disposable paper or plastic one (coming soon in August); and a rose gold Rosy Pin (HK$48) brooch to brighten summer outfits.

[Google Perks] £10 Deliveroo credit to Local Guides in the UK - Flexi

Thanks to google for crediting me £10 on Deliveroo to support my local restaurant.
Strangely I couldn't find my high street restaurants on Deliveroo so I ended up ordering nearby.
My picks would be Percy Ingle, The Caramel Tart Company and the Cake and Custard Company.

Anyway, I began browsing Deliveroo for restaurants and Flexi caught my attention.
Flexi was quite random because sometimes they were not accepting orders on deliveroo and when they did take orders some items would be sold out so I had to keep clicking on it every day to see if they had the items I wanted and that they were taking orders.

I finally managed to place an order at Flexi for the goat curry and brown stew chicken which both come with rice and peas for £10 with a small admin charge on top.

According to the app, the rider was already at the restaurant waiting for the food hence the slight delay but it wasn't too long so it was ok.
Luckily deliveroo has a map thing to track the driver because he went to the wrong house so I was able to wave him over and pass me the food.

As soon as I got home I unpacked the food, it was impressive they used plastic boxes and not the cfc ones.
The goat curry was generous with about 12 pieces of meat with rice and peas which was compacted in the box.
The chicken stew was not as exciting as the goat because it was chopped chicken but the good thing was that it was soft and came of the bone easily.
Anyway, the goat curry was definitely the star of the show because the goat was soft and came off the bone nicely with a good amount of heat.
Ultimately, I would have tried the oxtail bean stew but I was worried that it might be a lot of bones but will definitely tried it next time.

Anyhow, the meal was definitely satisfying especially the goat curry which was comforting!
Thank you google!!
Lots of love Supersupergirl

KFC Hong Kongs Plant based New Era Burger 新世代系列 vs the Original Recipe Vegan Burger from UK

Last summer, UK's KFC launched the IMPOSTER (vegan chicken burger) which was sold out within four days so it must have been good.
For Veganuary this year, KFC launched The Original Recipe Vegan Burger which is a meat-free alternative to the classic chicken Fillet Burger, replacing the usual chicken breast fillet with a vegan Quorn™ fillet coated in the Colonel's iconic blend of 11 herbs and spices.

Similarly KFC in USA had the beyond Fried chicken last year and now Hong Kong has the NEW ERA series 新世代系列 available as a burger or nuggets.
Definitely will be trying it soon but they don't really mention whether they use Quorn like UK or Beyond like the USA.
Available at selected branches show below.

Previously tried the UK version and this is how it was.
The Zero Chicken was amazing because the coating made it taste just like the chicken version while the texture and taste was just like the chicken nuggets so it was really satisfying.
