Delicous chilled green noodles @ 元八拉麵 Ramen Ganpachi

Previously I spotted a picture posted on Openrice showing these cold noodles, so I had to try it, however when i went to try the causeway bay branch they did not have it.

Finally they had it on their seasonal menu.

The set includes a drink, noodles and rice with prawn, better than the set at TST.

The rice comes with fried prawn and onion, a bit like tempura, but prawn and onion dipped together in batter and fried together, abit like the onion rings served at steakhouses.
The rice tastes good with vinegar too.

The noodles, were springy and smooth, tasted good when it was mixed with sauce.

Konjac buckwheat ramen @ Ajisen

Konjac chilled noodes:

They were totally different from the picture. the strands were squiggly like twisted elastic bands, but in the picture they appeared like straight cut buckwheat noodles.
As for the texture, it was like jellyfish, the normal konjac texture not nice for noodles!

Typhoon celebration with maxim's devil cake!!

Just wanted to celebrate the typhoon so got the chocolate cake.

Just like the angel cake, the chocolate cake is like the angel version, the cake is soft as chiffon, and the cream is rich and light.

Also the chocolate pieces were also supplied in a separate pack to add as a topping.

Melon and lemon jelly drink @ Hui Lau Shan

The summer season is over but the heat is still here, and I need to KEEP cool with a drink.

Usually I can cool myself with the pink grapefruit and jelly, but now the autumn menu is out, so the pink grapefruit is no longer available.

Anyway I got the melon and lemon jelly and it was better than I imagined, melon has always been savoryish, especially with Parma Ham, but as a drink, it worked well with the sour notes of the lemon.

The only thing that could be improved was their slooooooooooooooooow service, I suspect she didnt know how to use the blender, the fruit at the bottom was blended, while the ice remained at the top untouched, then she finally realised it after a while and pushed down the ice, and Hey presto! I finally got my drink after waiting for ages!!!!!!!

Ramen in curry soup @ Ajisen

The curry ramen was good, the curry soup was thin and salty, not thick at all.
The soft pork bone and rice was ok, the pork was nice and gelatinous.

chili corn carne @ Agave Tequila Y Comida

Its very hard to find good chilli carne in Hong Kong, usually the good ones are from british pubs, there will be some Chinese versions served in places, but they tend to add tomato in it, making it more like salsa.

As this place specialises in Mexican food, that did the trick, also you have to go on the day they serve chilli con carne on the menu too!!

So today, I ordered the lunch set with soup, mains and tea.

The soup base was thin, sprinkled with fresh coriander, tomato based with rice and chicken in it, it also had a dash of chilli sauce giving it some spice.

Then came the chilli con carne, I chose Mexican rice and re-fried beans to go with it, the rice portion was small, and re-fried bean is just mashed beans. The chilli con carne was excellent, lots of beans, beef, and fully flavoured.

The restaurant décor is quite aztec mexican style, open restaurant over looking Lockhart road, but the only drawback is the air conditioning, not cool enough and slightly humid due to the open style.
Winter would be a perfect time to come here again, especially because the food was spicy.

Yamagata corn Ramen @ Ajisen

I tried the new sweetcorn noodles, basically it is noodles in sweet corn based soup, with two pieces of stuffed sweetcorn!!!!!

新登場 - 山形大粟拉麵 Yummy Yamagata corn Ramen
香脆的天婦羅裏面充滿彈牙的墨魚膠;加埋日本山形縣的粟米濃湯底!

The stuffed sweet corn is basically like the Chinese stuffed vegetables such as halved bell peppers stuffed with fish patty, however this one is sweetcorn stuffed with squid patty.

how is it done!! can anyone tell me!!~!
see wat i mean:

The reason why it was very intriguing, is because if you slice the sweetcorn from the edge of the stalk the sweetcorn seeds have nothing to support it and become separated seeds. Yet all the sweetcorn seeds were intact and arranged like a sweetcorn with the squid patty on the other side. I really doubt each of the seeds were stuck on the patty. And the whole piece was fried in tempura coating.

Anyway back to the sweet corn noodles, I really loved it, the sweetcorn soup was very interesting, it tasted like WHITE RABBIT SWEETS, especially on the first sip and when you swallow it.

I also tried the prawn dumplings, they were as good as the normal ones, except the primary ingredients were beef and prawn! A contrasted combination from strong beef to light flavour of the prawn!
