Mixed Mushroom Spaghetti in a Lemon Juice & Parsley Sauce @ Carnegies

Carnegies have made a great improvement since my last visit, they will display their menu outside early in the morning, so you can walk past and see whats on for lunch.

Also it is much appreciated they update their weekly menu on facebook.

I chose to eat today, because of the mixed mushroom spaghetti in Lemon juice and parsley sauce.
For starters ordered the romaine salad with cajun chicken

Mains:Grilled Chicken Steak with Garlic Sauce, French Fries, Carrots & Snow Peas
and Mixed Mushroom Spaghetti in a Lemon Juice & Parsley Sauce

Dessert: Coconut banana fritters with Rum sauce.

Cajun chicken salad:
pieces of romaine lettuce on a bed of sliced chicken breast covered in spicy cajun sauce.

The bread was cute, served in a dimsum container, the bread was crusty and chewy, and the butter was nice and salty.

Grilled chicken:
juicy chicken with french fries and veg, the chicken was thigh meat. ( I thought is was slighty chinese the way it had been cooked)

Lemon pasta:
pasta cooked just right and the sauce was nice and lemoney, certainly worth choosing today to come. However the parsley could have been chopped finer since the menu said lemon and parsley sauce. It was more like a sprig of parsley.

Banana fritter:
Slightly over fried, not so much coconut, but the rum sauce was good, slightly bitter.
reminded me of the Caribbean.

Overall the menu is well suited for westerners and asians, since one dish will be western, and the other sounds western but cooked in chinese style.

Lemon and apricot cake @ Pacific Coffee

I am such a fan for Pacific coffee products, it is rare for me to dislike anything there.

One thing I do not buy is coffee, but I do drink tea.

I got the lemon and apricot cake as a light snack, its not too sweet, and there are lovely bits of apricot in it.
It is not too greasy either.

The date on the packaging is rather memorable, because it consists of consecutive numbers.

Takoyaki balls @ CEO

Octopus balls:

In comparision to the octopus balls elsewhere, these ones are potato based, hence more crispy and have a nice starchy filling inside.

cheese and ham roll @ Starbrucks

Usually I go to Pacific coffee more, but came here to try the cheese and ham roll and the sausage roll.

The sausage roll actually tastes better than the pacific coffee one.

The cheese and ham roll, is actually pita bread rolled with ham and cheese and heated. I thought it was a bit small in portion and expensive for that price.
The cheese inside is basically the processed cheese slices like the ones found in burgers.

black forest cake @ McCafe

I got my lovely black forest cake, which always tastes consistently good with appropriate amounts of cherry in the cream. The grated chocolate is not too much or less.

To finish it off, I got the Mocchochino with a frothy foaming top.

The four treasures @ 好滋味 Yummy Fast Food

I had the four treasures: fishballs, greenpepper, aubergine and tofu, all stuffed with fish pasted and fried.
The food was not pre-fried, but freshly fried, hence had to wait a few minutes for it.

They tasted OK.

Sweet durian roll and fried ice-cream @ 甜心甜品屋 Honey Well Confectionery

I came here for dessert, the choices of dessert here were not overly exciting, basically the same desserts which could be found at other places. The coconut cake was sold out, but interesting, as the chinese was coconut pie.
I was puzzled why this place is called confectionary in English, because confectionary does not quite correlate to desserts.

I ordered the Sweet durian roll, and fried ice-cream, if I had seen the fried banana on the menu, I would have ordered that.

Sweet durian roll:Tasted better than expected, creamy ripe durian inside the sweet white wrap. The wrap was jelly like. There were clear bits of jelly on top mimicking birds nests, but it wasn’t agar, the texture was more like konjac.

Fried ice-cream: tasted ok, nothing surprising about it, at the least the oil was fresh.
