Franchised Shanghai style food

Shanghai Po Po 336 (Tseung Kwan O)

The decor of this branch is quite nice and modern but out of place for East Point City because the vibes there are just weird.

It was strange with English mottos when most people there don't read English.

Sleep till your hungry
Eat till your sleepy

The menu was nice and simple.

Tried the noodles in sesame sauce which was too sweet.

The noodles in spring onion oil fared better because it was tossed in aromatic soy sauce and spring onion oil.

Well hidden restaurant

Olive Cafe (Wong Tai Sin)

Went to a gathering and they chose this restaurant.

The prices are quite expensive for its location and quality because it was Chinese style Western food although some of it was ok.

Pasta:

Tried the DIY pasta and it was hard to choose between capellini and fettucine.
Anyway chose capellini with asparagus, crabmeat and salmon in aglio olio style.

It turned out quite nice but it was too spicy and they used real crabmeat which was good.

From Russia with LOVE

Kafema (Wan Chai)

I was surprised to learn that this coffee joint is Russian because most coffees are from elsewhere.

As I don't drink coffee, I tried the Hot chocolate and tea.

They have quite a few tea blends which people are welcome to smell and each blend is clearly labelled with what is in it.

hot chocolate:

Compared to the one at mymy caffe, this one had a stronger cocao taste and it was much sweeter.
The temperature of it was quite hot too.
They also have nice thick hot chocolates at Cafe Pascucci too.
(but I hate the location)

A wasted visit to Sam's Cook

Went there especially to try the noodles in milky broth.

When I got there, I couldn't quite find the handle to the door so they opened it for me.

The decor was plain and simple.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Drinks:
The macaroni came with drinks, but it was the Chinese range, so just took a few sips because I don't drink Chinese style drinks.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Macaroni with egg white, organic tofu and tofu puffs:

I was really annoyed with this because it was meant to come in pure white pork bone broth but it was not white at all.
Anyway I asked them why it was not white and he asked the kitchen and told me that it was sold out.
I wish they had told me when I ordered because it wasted my time and effort to dine there when I could have gone elsewhere.
However I should be grateful that they served me patiently because I was the last customer.
Apart from the broth, the other elements such as tofu, egg white, sweetcorn were quite nice and healthy.

Mrs Fields New Strawberry cheesecake cookie

Walked past and saw these newly launched strawberry cookies.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Strawberry cheesecake cookie:

It had the standard soft and chewy texture.
There were pieces of dried strawberries and white chocolate in it.
The taste was rather disappointing because there was no cheesecake taste and it was just sugary.

Chinese fried fishcakes

Tung Tat Food Shop (Mong Kok)

There are two branches of Tung Tat in Hong Kong but only this branch has fried food.
Sat down on a nice secluded corner and took my time to look at the menu which was sticky and greasy to touch.

Ordered noodles and fried fishcakes
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
fried fishcakes:

The fishcakes were different to the Western ones, you won't find mashed fish with potatoes because it is blended fish with flour hence the chewiness.
Some parts of it was nice and crispy but the soy sauce they put on it was so concentrated that a drop was extremely salty.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Noodles:

There was a thick layer of oil over it which kept it hot.
The taste was bland but rather spicy.

Tom yum kung noodles with Thai sausage

RA CHA MOO YANG (Wan Chai)

I have never liked Tom Yum Kung or perhaps I have never had an authentic one.
The only impression I got from it was the strong taste of lemon grass.
The Tom Yum Kung here is quite nice and the vermicelli is the super thin type that absorbs the soup.

However, the broth was not that strong compared to the one I had on a earlier visit.

The Thai sausage slices were thick and peppery.
