Tallore is a food galore for my stomach

Tallore (Wan Chai)
I come here really often because there will are new salads and soups every two to three days.

The food here is healthy and basically staple food for expats and Westerners.

Everyday, the menu is updated on Facebook so it becomes a habit to check.

Here are all the great salads and soups I have had!!!
As I write, a new African soup has just popped up on the menu.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
New Potato Salad with Grilled Cumberland Sausage & Caramelized Onions:

The potato salad was a surprise because I found sweet potatoes in it which added colour and taste making it different from the usual potato salad.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Belgian biscuits:

Belgians dip these into their coffees but as a Brit I prefer dunking them into tea.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Couscous with Roasted Pine Nuts & Potato Bits Veggie Mix:

(right on the photo)
I love this so much, soft and tasty cous cous with delicious bits of potato and nutty pine nuts.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Spinach lemon soup:

This was one of my favourite soups and it does not contain any cream.
A combination of my favourite spinach and lemon, the hints of lemon was certainly appetizing without being too sour.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Mediterranean Pasta Salad with Cranberries:

I love bowtie pasta and it was dressed with dressing that was not too oily and the cranberries were not too sweet with a lovely chewy texture.
There were also delicious olives, cherry tomatos, cucumber and feta cheese which all gave it a gorgeous Mediterranean taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Belgian Endives Salad with Pears, Blue Cheese & Walnuts:

(Left on the photo)
This was another great one for annoying hot days, it had proper pears and crisp endives flavoured by the strong tasting blue cheese and gorgeous walnuts.
I was elated eating this because these pears are European ones with a soft texture that is not cloyingly sweet like Asian pears.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Curry Chicken with Wild Rice Mix & Mango Salad:

I found the rice too spicy and a bit too hard but this has improved.
But as a carb lover, I truly liked it because it was fruity with bits of apples, mangoes onions and lettuce.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Kale, Tomato & Mushrooms with White Beans Soup back:

This soup was nourishing as well as delicious because it had a rich plum tomato taste which tasted like canned plum tomatoes and it was loaded with kale and protein rich beans such as chickpeas and there were mushrooms in it as well.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Shrimp Soba Noodle Salad:

This was soba noodles tossed in Sesame Peanut Dressing that is not cloying sweet as the Asian peanut sauce.
Tossed with the noodles were delicious grassy pea sprouts, juicy sweet crisp julienne bell peppers, purple onions, cucumbers and prawns.

Flavoured rice at 囍點

Unfortunately Mr Taco Truck has closed down and this has taken its place!

They have a restaurant nearby but this one is better because it is on street level.

I tried the chicken and pork.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Three cups chicken with fragrant sesame rice:

The chicken was really good because it was boneless strips of chicken and the rice tasted amazing but perhaps a bit heavy for lunch.

The rice tasted like peanut butter but it was a bit too salty.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Pork with fragrant rice:

The pork was not that good because it was fatty strips of meat!
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Their signature soups were disappointing because the pumpkin soup was too sweet.

Mexican food from Quarry Bay to Central

Mr Taco Truck (Central)

This shop used to be a tiny joint in Quarry Bay but now it is a proper restaurant in Central with comfortable seating and more delicious items on the menu.

Mexican food is not just Chili con carne and tacos, there are so many different things, some with a Spanish touch which is why they speak Spanish too.

Quite alot of the food revolves using ingredients such as avocado, lime and tomatoes which are all my favourite because they make a refreshing combination.

Here was what we had:
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Quesadilla Supreme with Al Pastor Pork:

Quesadillas are my favourite because it is cheesey with delicious avocado and salsa filling.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Super Nachos with Chicken:

I am not fond of nachos but the nachos here were thin and crispy paired with appetizing salsa and guacamole.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Refried beans with nachos:

Although this was plain and simple, this was my favourite because refried beans are velvety and silky.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Grilled Fish Taco:

I loved these soft tacos with delicate fish and finely chopped salad on top.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Mexican beef stew (Birria en caldo) $138:

Served with Lime, Onion, Cilantro, Flour Tortilla or White Rice.
This was my favourite because it tasted like a rich beef broth with delicious rice and cilantro in it.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Chicken Mole (Mole con pollo):

I have always wanted to try this because the sauce is made with cocao which gives it an interesting taste yet it is not sweet.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Mexican Seafood paella $288:

As well as the chicken mole, this was another one of my favourites because the rice is cooked in prawn broth which gives it a strong seafood taste and they have also put baby squids for more flavour.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Grilled Adobo-Marinated Beef & Pork:

This was meat and more meat which is great for guys.
The pork was tender and well marinated.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Mexican Corn Bread:

The corn bread here is different and the best compared to other ones I have tried because it is lovely and soft with an eggy taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Homemade Churro with Chocolate Dip:

The churros are freshly made so they have a crispy coating while it is soft on the inside.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Mexican Banana split:

This does not taste like your regular banana because they are plantains which have a soft and mushy texture.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Sweet crepes with homemade icecream:

I didn't try the crepe, but the sweetcorn icecream was amazing, there was so much sweetcorn in it.
The texture is different to normal icecream because there are flakes of ice in it that give it a special mouthfeel and taste.
Their icecream is so unique they should have a Mexican icecream parlour.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
For Christmas, they have various packages for the office or you can hold a party there because the upper floor is big enough for 22 people and 50 people for the whole restaurant.
Book early and to take advantage of discounts, please see other reviews for full details.
