Buffet, buffet, buffet at W Hotel's Kitchen

It was my first time at W hotel so it took me a while to find it.
If you are coming by the MTR, exit D is the nearest to hotel where you take the escalators up to the mall and walk left.
The hotel itself is like a stylish artistic boutique with bits and pieces here and there.

Currently the Kitchen is doing a FANTASTIC 4 THEMED BUFFET DINNER.
MONDAY: SEAFOOD GALORE
TUESDAY: MEDITERRANEAN COAST
WEDNESDAY: BUTCHERS BBQ
THURSDAY: JAPANESE ROBATA
HK$558/adult; HK$279/child

It was hard making up my mind because I like Mediterranean food and BBQ.
In the end I chose the one on Tuesday.
After reading Supertaster_Mel's review, I couldn't quite see any difference but they had the BBQ stuff as well that night so I got to sample it too.
Although the food was good, I felt that for each different night, they could highlight the themed specials.

There was an amazing dessert variety but quite a few were not labelled.
If it wasn't for the Supertaster+Mel's review I wouldn't have known about the cakepops which I thought were chocolate lollies.

The seating was spacious and well spread out.

Here is the buffet selection.

Dessert selection:

A real cocoa bean.

Overall, I enjoyed the food.
The steak was pretty good and there were four different shao mai's including squid and sweetcorn.

I liked the fish roe which I put on crackers and the cheese variety.

The cheese and seafood were tasty.

My favourite salad was the apple and radish because it was light and refreshing.

After stuffing myself, dessert was a treat because the desserts were not too sweet so I ended up going for more.

KITCHEN:
6/F, W Hotel, 1 Austin Road West Tsim Sha Tsui.

Some changes at Piccolo Pizzeria & Bar

Since the last visit, the staff have changed to locals and for the pastas you don't get to choose the type of pastas anymore such as buccatini or capellini.

Started with some tea.

Fried portobello with chicken strips, bacon, brown sauce and rocket:

Previously tried this at the Kennedy town branch.
It was my favourite because the coating absorbed the tasty brown sauce which tasted like Marmite.
In the middle there was a big juicy portobello mushroom.
☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Beetroot & Rocket:

The rocket was too bitter for my liking.
☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Bacon and honey pizza:

Bacon lovers will love this but personally I found the bacon too fat and the honey thing is catered for local tastes.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Aglio olio:

Each strand was covered in olive oil and herbs but it was too spicy compared to the previous visit.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Lasagne:

The lasagne was delicious with tangy tomato sauce and minced meat filling.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Tiramisu:

A light and fluffy dessert that was not too sweet.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Panna cotta:

This was creamy with a milky taste.

Fish & Chips any day at Fish & Chick

Glad to see Fish and Chick have more offerings on the menu.
Prior to this visit, I have been here two times.

First time for the fish and chips:

Beetroot salad on the second time:

The fish choices are getting better and they even have haddock which is commonly served in the UK and they have lunch sets that have the signature chicken and fish and chips which were not available during my earlier visits.

That night we had other items as well as the signature dishes.
Here was what we had:
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆

I don't normally drink alcohol but this one was pretty so I tried some and the strawberry taste was stronger than the cider so I ended up drinking half a glass.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Crab croquettes:

As you can see, it is almost 90% crab so it had a soft texture with a lovely crab taste.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Fried mushroom salad:

The mushrooms were good, they were juicy and earthy mushrooms in a light crispy coating.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Fried prawns:

To be honest, they tasted like prawn cutlets covered in simple breadcrumbs served in Chinese takeaways in the UK.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Panfried seabream with ratatouille:

The panfried fish selection is a great option for locals who fear fried food!
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Salted cod and egg brandade:

I liked this dish because it was silky mashed salted cod that was not too salty topped with a cute quail egg!
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Hake fish and chips:

The fish was nice and flakey and the batter was light.

The meal wouldn't be complete if we didn't order extra mushy peas because the mushy peas were delicious.
Not quite the hand cut chips but once you have vinegar and mushy peas with it, the type of chips won't matter.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Roast chicken:

The chicken smelt nice and the chicken was tender rubbed with lots of herbs.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Lemon and poppy seed

The cake was served warm, so there was this lovely cake aroma with lemon and the poppy seeds which gave it a nice crisp texture when you ate it.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Panna cotta:

The panna cotta was silky and creamy with a slight white chocolate taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Definitely coming back for other fishes such as haddock with mushy peas and VINEGAR!

McDonald’s new pineapple pie

Tried the new pineapple pie because I haven’t tried it before.

To my knowledge the pies that have been launched before in HK are red bean and taro.
Hopefully they will launch peach as well because that would taste quite nice.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
pineapple pie:

The pineapple pie filling is the same as the apple in terms of consistency and viscosity.
It has the same sort of sweetness as the apple but it has small chunks of pineapple instead and the pineapple taste is not that strong.
