More fish options please at Beer & Fish

Before this place opened, I was excited because I was expecting it to be another chippy option.
The name Beer and Fish got me hopeful thinking there would be different fishes to choose from.
Anyway, when I got there I saw people eating fish and chips but the shape of the fish looked more like battered king prawns so I settled for the Jambalaya as the owner has this other Southern Restaurant.
The Jambalaya that I had was a bit disappointing because it lacked cajun taste and all I could taste was green peppers.

Maxim's Shandong chestnut cake

Maxim’s have launched a chestnut cake that is just right for autumn.

There are three delicious layers in the middle, the top is chestnuts mash topped with chestnuts. In the middle of the cake is creamy chestnut mousse and chestnut puree sandwiched in a chocolate sponge cake on top of a crispy chocolate base. There was a good balance of filling to the cakes.

Buffet lunches at Noble Spice

I have always wanted to try the buffet here but it ends at 2pm which is a rush on Saturdays and I don't work in Central during the weekdays.
Finally made it on a Saturday, the food was good as expected but it doesn't get refilled and they had a groupon offer when I went so people were like starved animals.

Italian Tomato mooncake 2015

Thanks to Ivy for sharing some mooncakes with us.

There were four flavours.
The chocolate and banana mooncake was quite nice.
It was rich with a strong banana taste but it was quite sweet.

Now showing food at Nathan Left

Went here because it looked like a typical British cinema where they have Cinema lettering in red and black against the white background with lines.

The picture below is a photograph taken by me at Whitechapel in London showing the Genesis Cinema.

Here is Nathan Left.

The menu looked pretty good so went there for dinner.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Started with the Alaska crab leg with mango papaya salad $168.

It looked exactly like the product shot.
There were two Alaska crab legs with crabmeat that were ready to eat, it was tasty with a strong sea salt taste.
The salad was nicely presented with a layer of papaya at the bottom, then lettuce on top, then mango and more crabmeat on top.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Smoked salmon pizza $128:

The pizza was had my favourite ingredients, there was salmon, anchovies and mushrooms which all give a great flavour especially with the saltiness of the anchovy and the smokiness of the salmon.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Roasted whole US game hen chicken with lemon and thyme with a choice of black pepper sauce, cep's mushroom sauce and gravy $148.

The chicken was really good because it was tender and juicy but I could not taste any lemon or thyme however it came with sauces so it didn't really need lemon and thyme.
It was hard choosing the gravy but the cep's mushroom sauce is really good with pieces of mushrooms in it.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Seafood squid ink risotto $148:

Lastly, I had the risotto which was topped with quite a variety of seafood including salmon, prawn, mussel and clam.
The quality of the seafood was good because they were not frozen ones and the mussel was soft and sweet.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
For drinks I had the Kiwi mocktail which was blended with real kiwi and it was not too sweet.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
There is a stage for local performers who are looking for a venue.
On Monday nights it is Chinese and English music and on the weekends there are other Asian bands.
For more details, please ask the restaurant who will be happy to answer your questions.

Coconut mooncake

It's nice to get non traditional mooncakes made with mooncake pastry and not the white pastry.

The one here is a coconut mooncake, inside it was filled with shredded coconut that was quite dense and not too sweet.

That's quite a lot of coconut in this mooncake!!
