A lunch church crawl at Host Coffee and The Wren Coffee

In this day and age, when was the last time you ever went to church.
I don't quite remember but it must have been a wedding or funeral.
This definitely wouldn't have been on centuries ago but it seems the norm now.
There are so many non functional churches that many have been reconverted into homes or eateries.
As a foodie, I went to church again because I was lured by food and drink.
There were three I visited, the first was in Mayfair which was probably the noisiest church with food and wine as it was a food hall as well.
The other two Host Cafe and The Wren Coffee are similar serving coffee/tea and simple lunches and they are closely located to each other as well.
To be honest, I enjoyed dining at Host Coffee because the food and drink was delicious as well as affordable.
The Ham & Cheese baguette was to my liking filled with Ham and cheese with gherkins, mustard & mayonnaise and rocket salad.
The gherkins were sharp yet blended everything in the baguette nicely which was finished with a nice cup of tea.
The Wren Coffee was similar but costs slightly more.

[Review 7816] Decent beef curry @ 港城茶餐廳 Kong Shing Restaurant

 02/10/2020

港城茶餐廳  Kong Shing Restaurant
佐敦佐敦道7A地下
G/F., 7A Jordon Road,, Jordan

Gang Cheng Fen Mian Dim Sum Restaurant or 港城粉麵 is a great place for curry.
It was really good the curry beef came in a separate bowl so the rice does not get soggy from the sauce.
The amount of beef in the bowl was quite generous.

Spicy Wings and chicken rice at Selekt Chicken, West Croydon

After visiting the Selekt chicken at Shepherd's bush, I discovered another branch in West Croydon.
However every branch of Selekt is different due to location and rent prices.
At West Croydon they do not serve the lamb burgers so I tried the spicy wings.
Their wings were pretty good because they were fresh and hot in temperature.
The coating was light and crispy.

Had a rice craving again so decided to get some chicken and rice as I have not tried it from Selekt despite trying their wings and burgers before.
It was 4.99 where you can choose chicken breast pieces or a grilled chicken thigh.
I opted for chicken pieces because I didn't want to take the extra effort to get the chicken off the bone with their flimsy plastic cutlery.
Overall, the chicken and rice was really satisfying especially the long slender fluffy grains of rice for that ricegasm and mostly importantly their punchy lemon and herb sauce which make it moreish and appetizing.
The chicken pieces are basically pieces of chicken tenders which are soft and moist.
Glad I got my chicken rice from here because the rice and sauce were much nicer than this other shop nearby.
The funny thing is that the grains of rice are so long and slender that if you see a stray one on the table, they do look like maggots!!

Chicken leg with rice:
Also good but difficult to eat with flimsy plastic cutlery.

Gelushi!! Sushi Ice cream that is too cute to eat!

While I was at Westfield, I saw some cute sushi ice cream that has to be tried.
Fool your friends on instagram and facebook with these instaworthy ice cream in sushi form!
Finally tried Gelarto's ice cream sushi which costs 3.50 each or 6 for two.
I chose the white choc and roll (pistachio gelato, strawberry jelly, black fondant, white chocolate gelato and ginger biscuit blitz) and Popsicle (Madagascan vanilla gelato, blood orange sorbet and fondant).
Both were really decadent but the white choc roll had to be my favourite while the Popsicle was refreshing.
I chose these two because of the appearance.

Breakfast at Terry's Cafe

I really enjoy my fry ups and it's a race against time to try all these places especially the ones that have been here longer than me.
Terry's Cafe was one I had to visit because you can feel the charm already on their social media.
When I got there, I was impressed already as well as the location because it was comforting seeing other aged shops nearby.
The chippy opposite will also take you back in time so I will be visiting sometime because I just enjoy being in a time warp for fish and chips as well.
Terry's Cafe is so worth visiting, every moment is entertaining and there is something to be discovered in every nook and cranny.
Moving on to the menu, they have the fryups, award winning toasts and the on toasts.
I decided to have the Buck rarebit as not many other places serve it.
When it came, there were two perfectly fried eggs with runny yolks on top of the cheese toast.
You could see the grated cheese flawlessly melted just right.
Knowing that I couldn't finish it all, I still had an extra bubble just for the records and the bubble here is the biggest piece I have been served in a square patty form!
The buck rarebit was really delicious although I would have wanted a stronger cheese that was sharper but it went deliciously well with the egg.
Towards the end I added some Worcester sauce which was comforting.
Overall, it was such a good breakfast and I am definitely revisiting.
The owner Austin is really nice and has a lovely charisma.
