Good stuff comes from the East.
Ahem, I mean East London.
Discovered Sweet Endings who are famous for Ice Cream sandwiches because of a visit to Bow Burgers but they were closed.
Found out they are also stocked at Tonkotsu so got it from there when I was in Central London.
At Tonkotsu, they happen to have all the exciting flavours like Umeboshi Milk Float, Chocolate & Miso Salted Caramel, The Malty One, and the East Side vegan which was good.
It was hard deciding between the Umeboshi (Ice cream and umeboshi plum jelly in a shortbread sandwich) and the Chocolate & Miso (Salted caramel miso ice cream in Guinness chocolate cake).
The chocolate miso was right up my alley because it was cake and not cookie/shortbread and even better as it was Guinness cake.
It comes wrapped in this beautiful yet durable chequered patterned paper wrap which doesn't deteriorate tear when you unwrap and eat making it mess free.
This ice cream sandwich was definitely well worth my trip as it was properly salty and I loved that cake counterpart made with malty Guinness giving it strong savoury kick.
All the tastes were bold from the strong salty ice cream to the malty Guinness cake.
The umeboshi milk float with pretty rainbow nonpareil sprinkles was tasty with the layer of fruity plum jam but the shortbread was a bit too buttery for me.
Also had the East Side Vegan which was Corn and cashew ‘ice-cream’, smokey salted caramel, with lacey miso and corn cookie.
It was just as nice and you can really taste the sweetcorn which really works in desserts just like this soft serve with corn at Chinchin.
Last but not least was the malty one.
I loved the malty goodness in the ice cream as well as the chocolate.
Again, it would have been ideal if it was a cake sandwich than the cookie.
