MISONOMI pop up wth Artist / Misonomi soup chef Mitsunori Sakano

I love rice balls (Omusubi) so when I found out about this Misonomi pop up, I had to go.
The menu is fixed with tea, candy, soup, rice ball where you get to choose the miso soup.
Unlike other miso soups, Misonomi is colourful with freeze dried ingredients served on a rice cracker canvas where all the soups were designed by Mitsunori Sakano who is an artist.
There are three choices of miso soup base: rice miso, barley miso and kelp miso paired with freeze dried ingredients.
Each soup has a unique name and theme like Spring magenta, Winter snow etc.
On their website, there is an interesting cheese and miso corn soup.
As you can imagine, it was a tough decision but in the end I tried the Pink Lagoon which has rare ingredients like white wood ears and Gagome kelp with plums for that different tangy taste.
It was definitely different in taste compared to savoury miso soup with the refreshing plum and very enjoyable with all these other ingredients.
Overall, I was so glad I tried.
Also got some soups to take home, the Lush Forest (okra and zucchini) and Green wave (dried shrimps and radish).
Both were nice but Lush Green was my favourite because I am an okra person.

Sweet Treats at Warung Putera Puteri

This joint offers meals and street food which can all be seen at the counter.
Tried the Pulut panggang, Kue kochi/koci.
The Pulut panggang is grilled glutinous rice with a desiccated coconut filling that tasted like the ginger puree that you get for Hainan chicken, overall it was a nice snack but it was weird because it was sweet and savoury. I would have enjoyed it more if it was 100% savoury.
The Kue Kochi/koci was nicer, similar with sweet desiccated coconut filling but it was 100% sweet in a firm chewy glutinous rice mochi and smothered in coconut cream.
Also tried the onde onde the previous night which was a pandan glutinous rice ball covered in coconut with liquid brown sugar in the middle.

Bready Danishes at Grainier

I have always wanted to try Grainier in Bayswater but there are too many options in the area.
Finally tried it one afternoon and found it very similar to Camden Bakery in terms of layout and food items.
Their Danishes were definitely different, the ones looking like apple turnovers were filled with cherries while the one with cherry was filled with apple.
The Danish that they offer is rather different to the conventional Danish pastry or crowns, it was bready and bun like.
It turns out that these are Spanish treats.
Overall, not bad but different.

WARM cakes at The little Dessert shop

Made a visit to The Little Dessert shop because we needed some dessert.
The cakes in the cabinet caught my attention immediately and there was a table to dine there.
Ordered the American birthday cake which I thought would look nice for pictures but it turns out that they serve it in a box instead of a plate.
You get a choice of ice cream or custard which is interesting so chose ice cream but it turns out the cake is served warm so in that respect custard would be a better pairing.
Overall, the cake was nice warmed which is like having a freshly baked cake from the oven however the icing melted.
The custard they serve is Devon which is creamy and nice.
