Golden Fish and Chips, Norwood Junction

Just another chippy I thought but when I saw the menu with fish cutlet balls and mutton rolls, I figured it was a Sri Lankan restaurant.
Anyway, I had fish and chips, the chips were definitely made to order and to my liking.
The fish was weird probably because of the orange looking batter which I suppose matches the name of the restaurant ie Golden.
Somehow the fish was just tasteless and skinless while the batter was wrong perhaps too smooth and uniform.
Overall, I just recommend the chips.

Gerry's hot subs at Exmouth market

Gerry's hot subs is coming to Exmouth Market and I simply can't wait.
At a recent visit, I went past Gerry's and fell in love with the American look of the place.
I took a peek and I love the way they have the hot dog vending machines just like the Netherlands and they also serve my favourite poutine with cheese curds according to their online menu.

Modern yet traditional bread and butter pudding at The Clerkenwell Kitchen

Discovered The Clerkenwell Kitchen by chance as I was in the area so went in and had a look at the menu as I needed to find a restaurant for lunch.
Mains were about £14 and there were a few that looked good.
While I was there, I spotted this bread pudding which made me dine there.
I am so glad I took a photo of the bread pudding because the presentation of that one was better the one served as the cream was not all over the place so I couldn't do the bread pudding justice.
Settled for the Chalk Stream Trout Fishcakes with Marinda Tomatoes & Tartar Sauce.
The roast chicken was tempting but then I saw a whole roasted chicken in the kitchen which means it is going to be reheated thus the fish cakes option.
The fish cakes were made to order which explains the soft texture but had a few bones.
Other than that, the whole dish was amazing and paired nicely with the tomatoes and dill dressing and tartar.
Finished with the marmalade & chocolate bread and butter pudding with cream.
When it arrived, the first thing I tried was the cream, I was really pleased it was not sweetened and it was interestingly warm.
The portion was quite big and satisfying, the best thing was that it tasted like proper bread and butter pudding with smooth egg curd here and there.
The dark chocolate complemented the marmalade orange peel nicely.
Overall, I really recommend this place especially the desserts and it is good to see they serve proper bread and butter sides as opposed to the fancy stuff.

Malaysian Street snacks at Cham Kampung Boy, Queensway Market

Nestled in Queensway Market you will find this stall serving Malaysian street snacks at affordable prices.
As a fan of pandan, I got the Burger Malaysia, Kuih Bengkang Pandan and Seri muka.
Labelled as a Malaysian burger, I felt that it tasted the same as a Jamaican dumpling.
It was filled with sambal and anchovies which I felt was similar to Jamaican saltfish and chilli.
Both the pandan sweets were nice but the Seri muka was my favourite probably because the layer of glutinous rice.

Oasis Restaurant breakfast at Croydon University Hospital

With normal people, you probably want to get out of hospital asap but as a foodie, there was a restaurant so I decided to check it out.
It is basically canteen style which is quite comforting serving English fare so why  not try it out.
As well as English food, the curries and rice looked good as well as cakes and pastries.
Since it was early, I had the breakfast, there were three different sausages available so got all three ie the chicken, pork and vegetarian.
They were a bit dehydrated and chewy but it was late in the morning otherwise good.

Fried maggi noodles at Kafe Malaya, Balham

Kafe Malaya serves Malaysian fare in Balham however it seems they were at this other stall in Peckham or maybe it was seventh floor.
Anyway, the first visit was closed because there was some gas or water supply problem hence the takeaway on the second time.
I had the stir fried noodles maggi goreng telur mata but it was different to the eat in as the noodles were different.
The dine in was definitely maggi but the takeout was not but to honest, I was happy with the non maggi version because the texture was better.
The taste of these noodles were to my liking as it was not too sweet.
Finished with the corn pudding which was sweet and coconutty.
The only thing I was not happy about was the menu, they had a great offering yet only a few of the items were available to order especially the desserts.

Horchata at Taqueria

There are not many places that serve Horchata.
The one at Taqueria was nice because the Cinnamon taste was strong and not artificial.
It was not watered down like this other place. Overall nice but a little bit too sweet.
I like the way that it was served in a bottle which made it convenient as opposed to drinking it from a straw.
taqueria: 6-8 Exmouth Market
