Cheesess' new makeover and new cookies

Cheesess (Tsim Sha Tsui)

Previously if you have been here before, you were greeted with a black mysterious fridge, there were no cakes at sight.

Hence the reason I have not tried their cakes yet.

The brand new look showcases their products with a lovely new counter with a glass cabinet.

I was now able to see products that I could not see before such as the sauces, Cheesess teacups and coloured syrups that people can buy to decorate their cakes.

As well as their famous cheesess teacup with forks and spoons that resemble mini gardening tools, they now have cookies on sale too.

I was given some cookies to try and each one was labelled and individually sealed.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Cranberry Raisin oatmeal Cookies:
This cookie was my favourite because I loved the chewyness from the raisins and cranberries and the tartness of cranberries were the best.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Walnut Raisin Cookies:

Although it saids Pecan on the labelling, I think it is meant to be Walnut as it tastes like walnut.
This one had a buttery nutty taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Earl grey cookies:

When it was taken out the packet, you could instantly smell the earl grey.
The taste was fresh.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Coco oatmeal cookies:

The oatmeal cookies were drizzled with chocolate and there was a nice cocoa taste to the cookies along with fragrant oatmeal.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Oatmeal cookies:

Compared to the chocolate oatmeal, this one was not so exciting and it was slightly too sweet.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Butter soft cookies:

The butter soft cookies were another one of my favourites!
Imagine it melting in your mouth as soon as you eat it, well it did just that!
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Almond cookies:

They have used whole almonds so there is strong almond flavour and a nice crunch.
The texture of this cookie was quite hard.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
After trying these cookies, I plan to get the kyoto raspberry and London earl grey cheesecake later.
While I was there I sampled the lychee cheesecake which was lovely and light, it was also ice cold so the texture was interesting just like a sorbet.
Thanks to Lemon Tea and Cheesess for inviting me to the try their new cookies.

Mashed potatoes with clams @ Pizza Hut

Pizza Hut (Tseung Kwan O)

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Mashed potatoes with clams alfredo:

Ordered this because it was new, basically it was mashed potatoes with clams in alfredo sauce in the middle topped with cheese.
The clams were very nice even though they were frozen ones because they were clean without sand.

The alfredo sauce was thick and creamy but there was not enough sauce in proportion to the mashed potatoes, so with so much potato left, I added some truffle from the fridge to finish it off.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Tuna and tomato salad with balsamic vinegar:

The salads at Pizza Hut are quite nice these days because they are not Chinese style.
I tried it without the vinegar and the tuna and the greens had a nice flavour together.
After adding the vinegar, the salad was more appetizing.

The only items I did not like were the two pieces of peaches because they were sweet and just shouldn't be there.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Supplementary Information:Recently Pizza Hut held a movie night supporting their front end hearing impaired employees, "Dialogue in the Dark", the Hong Kong Association of the Deaf and the media to watch an inspiring award winning film " The Hammer ".

Thanks to Pizza Hut for inviting me to attend as well.

Salmon rice burger @ Mos Burger

Mos Burger (Tai Koo)

Previously I tried the salmon burger which was delicious, so decided to try the other Salmon rice burger in this series.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Salmon rice burger:The difference between the Salmon rice burger and the Salmon burger, is that this one uses rice patties as the burger bun, and there is egg mayonnaise in the middle.

There is also a slice of seaweed at the bottom too.

I was a bit annoyed because they were super stingy with the egg salad, there was only a tiny splodge on top of the salmon.

The second thing that went wrong was the salmon, it was over cooked and dry this time.

The burger was tasteless.

Fancy soy mlk and fried doughstick at KFC!!!

Kentucky Fried Chicken (Wan Chai)
KFC, a specialist in Fried chicken now serves American fried dough sticks with soy milk for breakfast, it looks 100% Chinese and does not look American at all!
Anyway, I was curious, so decided to try it.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Fried dough sticks:
Before I tried it, I was impressed because it was hot and freshly fried, it was even hygienically wrapped too which beats any dough stick at Hong Kong's congee shop unless you go there just when they freshly fry dough sticks.
It is guaranteed to be cleaner too.
The great thing is they will fry them when ordered because people will not go here for these doughsticks so it is going to be fresh.
When the I unwrapped it, the dough stick was quite small.

It was really cute because you could still separate it into two single sticks just like the traditional ones.

Anyway, the taste was delicious, it was chewy inside and crispy outside and you could taste some other spices which you can't taste in Congee shops.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Soy milk:

It just tasted like the usual soy milk, but it was not too sweet which was good.

Fish pie @ Dot Cod Seafood Restaurant & Oyster Bar

Dot Cod Seafood Restaurant & Oyster Bar (Central)

Celebrated someones birthday here and because they were regulars they chose this place.

Previously I was invited here for tasting too, so I knew the food was going to be delicious.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Bread basket:

Started off with the bread basket and the breads were delicious with herbed butter.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Fish pie:

While most people chose Fish and Chips I chose the fish pie.

There was a side of julienne cabbage which was delicately flavoured with caraway seeds.

The mash on top on the pie was silky and creamy, and the there was so much seafood beneath the mashed potato.

Camping out for delicious curries

Camper's (Quarry Bay)

I have heard quite a lot about this place before but I did not know it was Japanese until I went there.

Luckily there were lots of reviews on Openrice so you could just show them the pictures to order because the menu does your head in with all that handwritten Chinese and Japanese.

There was an English menu but I forgot to take a photo of it and their website has not updated for a long time so you cannot see all the latest dishes.

Camper's was an interesting name for the restaurant which reminded me of camping and explains the small camping bags on the wall.

There is a similar restaurant called Bigpack Cafe that serves German food which also has large Rucksacks on the wall.
It is strange that Bigpack Cafe was not called Backpack Cafe or Bagpack Cafe.

Basically this restaurant is famous for curry and "Daily intake of vegetables".

The "Daily intake of vegetables" is the amount of vegetables that a person should eat a day which is served as a salad or as a curry.

The vegetables are already prepared on the metal plates so when people order them, they just take it from the metal plates.

There were so many curries I wanted to try, Curry with daily required portion of vegetables, butter chicken curry but the butter chicken was Japanese style so I did not choose it.

While I was just about to order the vegetable curry, I saw the photo of oyster curry so I ordered that instead.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Wheat tea:

The wheat tea was refreshing and a good start to the meal.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Hiroshima oyster curry:

This was my first time eating curry with oysters, the oysters they use are Hiroshima oysters which are known for their creamy strong taste.
Oysters are usually baked or eaten on its own which was why I felt that this curry was interesting.
When it came, the curry was really hot with lots of steam coming from it.
Initially I tried the mushrooms and curry first because the oyster had the strongest taste and the mushrooms were sweet and meaty because it was the abalone type.
The oysters tasted strong as expected but they were a bit mushy.
The rice had pieces of sweet potato, pumpkin and sweetcorn in it which made it colourful as well as being tasty, and it was really good the curry sauce temperature was really hot and kept hot till the end.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
For dessert I was really looking forward to the sweet potato pudding but it was sold out.

Exclusive Nepalese Chatamari in HK

Pizza Max (Jordan)

Ever since my first visit, I have been addicted to the food here, not only do they serve Nepalese food, they also serve curries and pizzas.
They also have my favourite tortellini and gnocchi.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Greek salad:

I really liked this greek salad because it had crispy and sweet baby gem lettuce leaves and the sauce that they used was really appetizing.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Butter chicken curry:

I tried this twice and on my first visit it was perfect, on my second visit, there was a strong coconut taste.
On the perfect visit, the chicken and curry sauce was delicious, especially the tender chicken pieces.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Salad in pita bread with fries:

This was amazing, it reminded me of the food I had at PFC in London.
The pita bread was filled with fresh crisp leaves that were drained after it was washed and there was delicious mayonnaise in the pita bread to complement it.

The fries were perfect too, they were fried just right.
The side of salsa was really spicy but tastes delicious.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Chatamari - allow one day for preparation:

THIS WAS OBLIVION! but you need to order it one day in advance which is super annoying because you have to plan ahead.
It is a Nepalese pizza from Kathmandu and the base is made of rice and lentils.
The base was crispy and delicious and you can taste the toasted rice at the base topped with delicious grounded paste.
The taste of this pizza was exactly like Christmas stuffing and the egg on top was great especially the yolk because it was not starchy nor was it runny, the texture was a bit like buffalo cheese.
There was a side of sauce which is really spicy but after adding it, the taste was complete.
