Bakery products from 759

759 was a shop selling preserved packaged food to start off with and now they have expanded into other businesses such as cosmetics, noodle joints and now a bakery too!
I wonder if we will see 759 Medical clinics, 759 Barbers, 759 Laundry, 759 Petrol Stations coming soon!!!

Initially 759 didn't appeal to me because the variety was limited and it was cheap and unhealthy packaged Asian snacks like noodles and crisps but now there is more European variety and they even have TIMOTEI shampoo.

I was curious to try their bakery because I love bread but in Hong Kong, it is either proper Western Bread or Sweet tasting savoury Chinese bread.

Walked past one day and bought some bread and muffins.
You can probably use your membership card on the purchase but I forgot to use mine and the lady at the till didn't remind me.

Double chocolate muffin:

The muffin was not outstanding but at least it looked like a muffin with pieces of chocolate in it.
It was not impressive but it was not too sweet, too oily or too crumbly.

Tomato corn toast:

Technically it is bread because it hasn't been toasted yet and it probably tastes better as a toast.
With good breads, they taste great on their own but the tomato bread required a filling to make it into a tasty sandwich.
The tomato taste was surprisingly good because you could taste tomato in almost every bite but saying that it was probably tomato flavouring mixed in the dough.
There were also pieces of sweetcorn in it too but I still classify this as a Chinese style bread because it was sweet and the texture of the bread was evidently Chinese and not yeasty at all.

Meokbang is now on the Island

Previously there used to be only one branch of Meokbang that was located in Mong Kok but now they have opened a second branch at Causeway bay which is conveniently near Exit F of Causeway bay MTR station.

This branch is definitely more convenient for me.

Here was what we had:
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Ganjang Gejang (Raw Crab Marinated in Soy Sauce)
A traditional Korean delicacy directly imported from Korea! Made by marinating a fresh raw crab in homemade liquor and soy sauce for 4 days!

The crab came with rice and seaweed soup.

It was sinfully delicious mixing the rice into the creamy orange crab roe which tasted like egg yolk.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Raw prawns marinated in soy sauce:

For people with high cholesterol levels, they can try this instead of the crab because it is also marinated in soy sauce.
The prawns were sweet with a salty fermented aftertaste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
panfried seafood pancake:
I love these pancakes because they are crispy with pieces of seafood and scallion in it.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
While the metal grill was heating up, egg was poured into the rims and Mozzarella cheese with diced peppers were put on the other side of the rim.

Started off grilling the ox tongues because they were thinly sliced and easy to cook.

They were simply delicious with lettuce.
On the plate, there were prawns, prime beef spare rib, scallops, pork belly and marinated chicken.

We then had the Prime spare ribs which was a huge piece of meat that was unrolled on the grill, then cut into pieces when it was nearly cooked.

When the cheese melted, I scooped some and had it with the rice and it tasted really nice.
It became more addictive when I added cheese and egg to the rice.

Octopus

This was Korean style octopus which I found too spicy.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
To soothe our palates, we had these desserts which were like snow!~
Green tea snow ice

Red bean snow ice

The snow ice is basically milk made into snow that is not sweet so they give you condensed milk which acts as a sweetener.
Frankly it tasted great without the sweetener because the green tea powder and sweet pieces of mochi went well with it.

Localized Indian food at Curry Corner (Sham Shui Po)

Went to this place for Indian food because the rest of the restaurants in the food court were Chinese food.

Anyway, when I looked this up on openrice, it appears to be closed.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
chicken biryani:

I had the chicken biryani which cost $42.
Basically it looked like a biryani but it was tasteless, the spices were not even at their full strength.
It is weird they give you a side of curry sauce too which is tasteless.
ANYWAY, it is funny they give you disposible chopsticks so I guess the chopsticks are for the locals.

Affordable noodles at 蟠龍粉麵茶餐廳

The food here is cheap and there is a lot of variety.

The noodles are reasonable and for that price I don't expect anything but at least it is clean.

The fish shaomai were my favourite because the wonton skin is not too thick and you could taste the fish as well as the flour.
The chili sauce makes it taste better but it can be quite spicy if you put too much.

Tea again at Owl Cafe

I have become fond of this place because the tea and desserts are great for $35.

This time they had brown rice jelly ( genmaicha ).

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Earl grey tea:

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
brown rice jelly:

The taste of brown rice was not strong but there was rice in it and you could also taste fragrant yuzu too.

Not as tasty as the first visit at Djiboutii

Went here on a Saturday and they didn't have the lunch deal so I ordered the chicken and they asked me if I wanted rice or fries so I thought the rice came with it but it did not so it was another extra $65.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Rice $65:

I shouldn't have ordered this because I was having another lunch immediately after this.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Roast chicken:

This was not as tasty as my first visit, much of the chicken skin was gone and it was too garlicky which overpowered the other aromatic spices.
The salad dressing was too sweet but it still had my favourite cumin spices in it.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Cranberry tea:

This was nice and acidic but the floral notes were too strong for my liking.

Kudzu drink at Kung Lee 公利

Passed by for a drink and ordered the sugar cane water but when I was just about to pay I spotted the Kudzu so decided to have that instead and the woman was really nice and let me change to that.

I don't think they have kudzu drink at the Central branch.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Kudzu drink:

Compared to the place across the road, the kudzu taste was bland but as I was thisty it didn't bother me.
